* HolyBurnsEvil: He is able to wield [[PlayingWithFire holy fire]], which allows him to purge corrupt influences from his targets. This is what allowed him to protect people from being used as [[DemonicPossession hosts]] for the Void Traveler, and also rescue those who fell under the thrall of Ispita the Deceiver and her various children/allies.

** His ordeals with Fanged Paw were also full of this trope, too. Fanged Paw would nurse a hateful grudge towards one of his younger brothers, Crimson Star, for being an InsufferableGenius, and when he snapped, he would constantly get into violent fights with him over it, prompting Golden Scepter to always try stop and separate them. After Crimson Star was blinded and fell into a severe depression afterwards, Fanged Paw would continue bullying him supposedly to punish his brother. This provoked Blazing Hoof's ire when he caught him and two of his other brothers, Death Shroud and Red Blade, beating up a depressed Crimson Star, with the latter not even lifting a hoof in self-defense, [[BigBrotherInstinct and tried defending his vulnerable brother alone]]. The fight apparently got so bad that Golden Scepter had to quickly intervene before things got too bloody. Fanged Paw's entry notes that Golden Scepter was ''furious'' with him and his two brothers for leaving Crimson Star near death just to satisfy their own grievances with him, and punished Fanged Paw by exiling him from the Terran Empire. Only after Fanged Paw showed significant CharacterDevelopment did he decide to lift the punishment and allow his son to come back home.

* AnthropomorphicPersonification: Embodies Ponykind, Psionics, Leadership, and Judgement. His divine domain of Ponykind is especially given prominent focus in his entry, as it is mentioned and shown that Golden Scepter embodies the best and worst traits of Ponykind - [[GeniusBruiser he's eloquently spoken, a genius intellect who's well-versed in various topics such as history, technology, and science even by the standards of the Alicorns]], and a compassionate, fair, and benevolent ruler who [[TheParagon inspires goodness and benevolence in others]]. However, as the Imperium era showed, he is also capable of cruelty, ruthlessness, hypocrisy, and hatred. As Luminiferous notes, Golden Scepter's genuine remorse towards his actions shows that he's not completely beyond redemption, which the latter eventually achieves after being revived and healed in the Second Age, and spending three Ages [[WalkingtheEarth wandering around Equus]] while learning from the examples set by mortals and divines. Part of why Belyolen and Temnobog respect him is because, as a highly beloved ruler and the living embodiment of a certain race, he represents the person they ''should'' have been had Irminsul not meddled with his then-unborn son trying to make him "perfect".
* ArchEnemy: He saw Morning Star as this, due to his betrayal and the massive destruction and death he caused in trying to achieve his twisted ideas of "perfection". It's later deconstructed in that the traumas he suffered fighting Morning Star and protecting his people and many other innocents from him affected Golden Scepter so profoundly that he started having nightmares and hallucinations about the evil Alicorn long after he died. His hatred of Morning Star also caused him to act hostile towards his enemy's "son", Luminiferous, due to looking exactly like Morning Star despite not doing anything evil. However, the CharacterDevelopment he went through as TheAtoner, therapy sessions with Mentálne, and learning how GoodNeedsEvil during his stay in the Bogolenya pantheon has helped him let go of his grudge and ironically become one of Luminiferous's best friends.

* TheEmpath: His entry describes him as a powerful empath - while he can feel the emotions of all sapientkind, his empathy is more profound with Ponykind, since he embodies all of Ponykind in general, as well as its best and worst traits. He's also infamous for "[[EmotionBomb emotion-bombing]]", which he used to either show villains and other evildoers the harm they've done to their victims, or to force absolute loyalty to him during the Imperium era, [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone the latter which caused him to be disgusted with himself upon learning of it]]. This trope is discussed with Sparkling Wing, who noticed that there's quite an abundance of both mortal and divine individuals who have empathetic powers.

** This is what happened to Prince Fanged Paw, his second-oldest son. After Fanged Paw continued bullying and tormenting Crimson Star as payback for being an InsufferableGenius, even after the latter was blinded in a carriage accident and suffered an emotional breakdown after his JerkassRealization, Golden Scepter [[EmotionBomb psychically showed him the torment Crimson Star was going through]] and exiled Fanged Paw from the Terran Empire for his actions. It was stated that Fanged Paw felt so guilty towards his actions that he accepted his punishment without complaint.

* HappilyMarried: Sometime between the Third and Fourth Ages, he married a mortal pegasus mare, Blessed Skies, [[SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan because he was attracted to her compassionate and forgiving nature]], and sired several SemiDivine sons with her. It's mentioned that it was Blessed Skies who taught him that LivingIsMoreThanSurviving, advising him to "treat [your] memories and friendships like a Dragon treats its treasure hoard". Golden Scepter took her advice to heart and continued being a good father to their sons long after she died.

* MonsterProgenitor: It's theorized that Golden Scepter's Pony-related domain is because he's the "Parent Deity" of modern Ponykind itself, much like how the god Equus birthed all of Equinekind, including the [[PhysicalGod Alicorns]], who are considered to be the greatest of his mortal/immortal children. Golden Scepter has stated that his Pony-related domain is likely figurative, as Ponykind has existed even before his birth, and he always felt close to his fellow ponies... though he's really not so sure himself.

** After Luminiferous showed him the ruins of the Imperium of Ponykind, he realized that he became no better than Morning Star or his fellow Alicorns during his Imperium-era rule, which convinced him that he was a "monster". However, Luminiferous points out that his ability to feel remorse towards his actions proves that he's actually not a monster, and that there's still hope for him to redeem himself and break himself out of the ViciousCycle of greatness, stagnation, and fall into corruption. This led to him becoming TheAtoner and started a much-needed process of CharacterDevelopment, becoming much kinder as a result.

* OldFlame: Subverted. It's revealed in comments and Written Word's entry that in the past, Golden Scepter [[BiTheWay slept with a few mares and stallions]] as most of his people did. But unlike them, who would take in multiple partners for pleasure, Golden Scepter was genuinely loving and respectful towards all of his partners, and gave them all the good treatment they deserved, even if he regretted participating in some of his neighbors' more dishonest activities. Even after the "[[{{Gotterdammerung}} Twilight of the Alicorns]]" conflict and the thousands of years that would follow, he still thinks about how they're doing without him. That being said, while he misses them, Golden Scepter was very faithful to his now-deceased mortal wife, Blessed Skies, and makes it clear to his son, Written Word, that he doesn't love his family even less for it as they're all precious to him in their own ways.

* PsychicPowers: He's the Alicorn god of Psionics, so naturally he's a master at this. Some of his powers include telekinesis, teleportation, telepathy, psychic barriers, empathy, precognition and retrocognition. It's noted that he's so powerful that Aurum Lupus was rumored to have relied on divine empowerment in order to beat and nearly kill him at all, and it was rumored that even the mightiest of Alicorns couldn't match his potent mind. The Imperium of Ponykind also had the largest numbers of psychic ponies thanks to his influence, and he intends to do it again in the Fourth Age. One of his SemiDivine sons, Prince Crimson Star, inherited his vast psychic powers, which he used to [[DisabilitySuperpower make up for his blindness]] after he lost his sight saving a classmate in a carriage accident.

** He ''really'' doesn't like Synthetic Automatons, known in the Second Age as "robots". His strong distrust towards them stemmed from personal experiences with [[AIIsACrapshoot rebellious and/or evil sapient A.I.]]; in one incident, he was a personal witness of the "Mane of Iron Rebellion" event, in which one of the most successful civilizations that came after the "Twilight of the Alicorns" fell because its own Synthetic Automatons rebelled against their creators. Despite his beliefs, he abstained from participating in the Hoofington Conference so he could give his sons and technologically-minded subjects a chance to come up with their own conclusions. It's also noted that Corona, the {{Expy}} of [[Franchise/MegaMan]], was the only Synthetic Automaton he genuinely respected, partially due to Luminiferous's benevolent influence, and partially because Corona chose to save and protect people of his own free will, [[WhatYouAreInTheDark even if he has many opportunities to go against his beliefs and programming]], such as his refusal to kill Dr. Guile despite the latter being a despicable coward responsible for many horrible atrocities.

* FantasticRacism: Deconstructed. After the fall of the Alicorn Civilization and living among mortal ponies as the only living Alicorn in the outside world at the time for so long, Golden Scepter became extremely protective of Ponykind in general and wanted them to be the MasterRace of Equus, in turn becoming an AbsoluteXenophobe towards non-Equine races. To that end, he launched military campaigns that were little more than genocidal massacres that targeted even innocent non-Pony races. When confronted about it by a high-ranking Commander of the Ultra-marerines, Golden Scepter justified his actions with the excuse of being "right" while his so-called enemies were "wrong", much to said commander's disgust. His actions influenced his subjects to behave the same way during the Imperium's gradual descent into a WretchedHive, which partially became the reason they were all wiped out by benevolent kingdoms, empires, and civilizations. After going through CharacterDevelopment and [[TookALevelInKindness becoming much kinder]], he has become more tolerant towards non-Pony races, and notably became a bitter enemy against racist/tribalist factions such as the Scions of Hurricane and Autorist followers.

* FollowInMyFootsteps: He intends for Sparkling Wing to be a great leader like him, [[{{Seers}} having foreseen Sparkling Wing's future as the beloved ruler of his own kingdom]]. However, Sparkling Wing's initial BrilliantButLazy tendencies often led to Golden Scepter scolding him for wasting his potential on mere "parlor tricks" instead of acting like the royal diplomat and leader he's supposed to be.

** During the "Temptation Unbound" event, his son, [[HandicappedBadass Crimson Star]] foresaw a bad future in which his family would be turned against each other one by one in a catastrophe similar to the [[TabletopGame/Warhammer40000 Horus Heresy]], and warned his father. It was noted that in said bad future, Golden Scepter would have died trying to stop the catastrophe that would tear his sons apart, much like what happened to the Emperor of Mankind. But because Crimson Star had the sense to inform him of his vision beforehand, it resulted in Golden Scepter becoming so pissed off that [[PapaWolf he revealed his true godly form and confronted the Fallen deities and their worshipers responsible for trying to destroy his family]] instead.

* AcceptablePoliticalTargets: An averted in-universe example. Because he is the living embodiment of Ponykind as well as its best and worst traits, he is merciful and forgiving even towards those who have fallen into Evil, especially if they were misled by genuinely malicious forces such as Autorists and tribalists. He believes that it is everyone's responsibility to be aware of the situation and help those at risk of becoming villains from "the clutches of Evil itself"; thus, while he's aware of the things the Autorists and other related groups have done, he doesn't think it's funny to ridicule them for their misdeeds when there are people who could be saved and redeemed. It helps that [[TheAtoner he was once a person who misled others into doing morally questionable things himself, and is trying to make up for it even in the present]]. He would even lecture his second-born son, Prince Fanged Paw, on the matter after the latter ridiculed the Autorists and those like it.

* BiTheWay: A [[https://www.deviantart.com/comments/1/763812200/4755538567 conversation]] with [=BrutalityInc=] on deviantART reveals that Golden Scepter once slept with mares ''and'' stallions at various points in his life, due to the Alicorns practicing a FreeLoveFuture at the time. It's implied that he ultimately stopped this and chose to settle down and have children with a mare by the Fourth Age, as he wanted to separate himself from the Alicorns' misdeeds and flaws that ultimately ruined them. When he brought this up in his stories to his sons, [[TooMuchInformation they reacted as expected]] - Crimson Star ran out of the Terran palace at full speed while [[IgnoringBySinging singing]] and screaming, while Written Word holed himself up in his room and got into a TroubledFetalPosition.

** He's one to Sparkling Wing, a fellow Alicorn. Golden Scepter is an ancient and powerful Alicorn Emperor who lived before Known History, with lots of experience on his hooves, while Sparkling Wing is a young Prince from the Third Age, whose status as heir to the throne and potential as a leader were dashed because [[WantedASonInstead his subjects didn't want to accept a stallion on the throne and pressured his mother to have a daughter instead]]. Golden Scepter is serious, imperial, and willing to use harsh and even extreme methods to get a desired result, while Sparkling Wing is a MartialPacifist who is sickened by the idea of killing, so he mostly sticks to defense and support. Finally, in terms of CharacterDevelopment, Golden Scepter was a ShellShockedVeteran whose traumas influenced him to become a WellIntentionedExtremist until certain individuals, as well as a three-Ages-long journey across Equus, taught him to be more benevolent and kinder. Sparkling Wing is a very compassionate and pacifistic yet spoiled pony, who initially felt very insecure and goofed off because he feared failing people's expectations of him. Sparkling Wing's potential would also make Golden Scepter take great interest in him, having foreseen the former as a benevolent Alicorn King, and has started giving him lessons on leadership.

Golden Scepter behaved similarly during the Imperium era, after the "Twilight of the Alicorns" and before the Known Ages, until he was betrayed wounded by one of his own generals during a coup and had to be put in magical stasis to be healed later. After he was found by Luminiferous and Dazzleglow in the Second Age, and healed by Kerajaan Cahaya's medicinal technologies, he would undergo a long process of CharacterDevelopment as TheAtoner, wandering around Equus to learn from the examples set by both mortals and divines. The result was a truly benevolent Emperor, who settled down before the Fourth Age and founded the much smaller yet thriving Terran Empire, and became the father of several SemiDivine sons.

However, after enduring ''ten ages'' of war and creating the Imperium of Ponykind, Golden Scepter's traumas would bring out his worst traits that deeply affected his judgement, resulting in him making a series of terrible mistakes that caused him to be gravely wounded in a violent coup and put in magical stasis to save his life. Since his discovery, healing, reemergence in the Second Age, he has been exposed to a lot of concepts and still has the intelligence to acknowledge and understand them... though it also has been noted that when he first woke up from stasis, he was severely frightened, hostile, and distrusting towards everything and everyone, which he eventually got better from. Hilariously, he also sees things like puns as utterly baffling. While temporarily staying over in the Bogolenya Deer pantheon, [[TemptingFate Golden Scepter asked Yarost what puns are]], only to be told to "leave this place as fast as [you] can" before Yarost's younger sister, [[PungeonMaster Phykti]], comes by. [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere He heeds the god of Fury's warning]], leaving Phykti rather disappointed that she didn't get to introduce Golden Scepter to puns.

He's also a beloved war hero who personally fought against Morning Star, and protected and hid away those who didn't want to participate in the war, saving Alicornkind from complete extinction. However, he's not without detractors - many Alicorns see Golden Scepter as "eccentric" for choosing to help rebuild Equus after the war rather go into seclusion to help his people regain their former glory, and his actions during the Imperium era have made him a very controversial figure even by the Alicorns' standards.

* MonsterProgenitor: It's theorized that Golden Scepter's Pony-related domain is because he's the "Parent Deity" of Ponykind itself, much like how the god Equus birthed all of sapientkind, including the Alicorns, who are considered to be the greatest of his mortal/immortal children. Golden Scepter has stated that his Pony-related domain is likely figurative, as Ponykind has existed even before his birth, and he always felt close to his fellow ponies... though he's not so sure himself.

* PapaWolf: After becoming a father of many semi-divine sons, he naturally became protective of them, even if his sons are threatened by [[CainAndAbel their own brothers]].

* ParentalSexualitySquick: While this probably wasn't his intention, he started telling his sons stories about how the Alicorn Civilization once had a FreeLoveFuture, as well as his own sex life, in which he slept with both mares ''and'' stallions at some point. At least two sons were shown to have a [[TooMuchInformation reaction]] - Crimson Star ran out of the royal Terran palace [[IgnoringBySinging singing]] and screaming, ''despite being blind'', while Written Word was so traumatized that he apparently holed himself up in his bedroom and put himself in a TroubledFetalPosition.

However, he's an "Antecedent"-type one, meaning that he's ''extremely'' ancient, and ''extremely'' powerful compared to the newly-Ascended Alicorns of current generations. In addition, he's one of the strongest and mightiest psychic on Equus, to the point where his entry mentions that even the mightiest Alicorns couldn't hope to match his potent mind. Even one of his mortal Pony generals, General Aurum Lupus, had to rely on divine empowerment to even confront him during the "Aurum Apostasy" conflict after Aurum Lupus turned traitor. As such, any attempt to fight him will almost always result in an extremely one-sided CurbStompBattle.

* RealityWarper: It's noted that he's such a powerful psychic that he can do feats of minor reality-warping if he chooses to.

** Before the "[[{{Gotterdammerung}} Twilight of the Alicorns]]", Golden Scepter was a highly beloved ruler whose empire was among the most successful, and was magically and technologically advanced even by the Alicorns' standards. When Morning Star fell and turned traitor, Golden Scepter fought him and protected the innocent from the war for ''ten Ages''. After the war ended, he refused to go in complete seclusion with the survivors of his people, instead opting to look for survivors and help them rebuild. Golden Scepter notes that the norm of Alicorn rulers is to behave in a regal, stoic, and aloof manner, which gives the image of a wise and benevolent ruler, but then admits that such behavior is really toxic and encouraged the superior attitudes that led to the downfall of their civilization in the first place.
