* AdaptationalHeroism: [[TabletopGame/Warhammer40000 Magnus the Red]] was an InsufferableGenius who [[HeroWithBadPublicity was distrusted and hated for being a psyker]], yet was loyal to his father. He [[FaceHeelTurn turned traitor]] in the Horus Heresy after a rather unfortunate combination of arrogantly pursuing forbidden knowledge, the manipulations of the Chaos gods, and being censured and alienated by the Emperor's actions. Crimson Star, Magnus's Codexverse counterpart, also started out as an arrogant InsufferableGenius, until he was blinded saving a classmate in a carriage accident, and became rather depressed after realizing that [[JerkassRealization he is now no better than those he once deemed beneath his intelligence]]. Thanks to Golden Scepter's love and support, he would come out of his ordeals a much better and heroic person. He would even prevent a similar Codexverse version of the Horus Heresy event from happening during the "Temptation Unbound" conflict by warning his father of what he foresaw, exposing the malicious deities and their worshipers responsible for trying to engineer such a tragedy.

* AstralProjection: It's noted in his entry that as part of his PsychicPowers, he can produce an astral form of himself for certain attacks, though that leaves him vulnerable to certain spiritual and supernatural threats. This is the same ability that [[TabletopGame/Warhammer40000 Magnus the Red]] also possesses. Kúzelník's entry notes that he has the same astral projection ability, which contributed to their mutual {{Squee}} upon meeting each other.

* BlindSeer: He's a blind Alicorn demigod who has the power of [[{{Seers}} precognition]], though it's noted in his entry that his younger brother, Prince Bright Eyes (who is based on [[TabletopGame/Warhammer40000 Primarch Sanguinius]]) is a more powerful Seer. He originally wasn't blind in his youth, but an accident in which he saved a classmate from a runaway, out-of-control carriage left him horribly injured and took away his sight.

** Of [[TabletopGame/Warhammer40000 Primarch Magnus the Red]]. Much like Magnus, he's a red-skinned/haired individual who's significantly taller than most of his brothers, and is an extremely powerful mage/psychic who dedicated himself to higher learning. Even his folder quote is an altered version of Magnus's "light of Chaos" quote. However, unlike Magnus, who turned traitor during the Horus Heresy largely thanks to the Emperor's actions as well as the Chaos gods' manipulations, Crimson Star had the fortune of having a loving divine parent, who would continue to love and support him even after he was blinded in an accident, and helped him become a much better person over time. In addition, during the "Temptation Unbound" conflict, he would prevent a potential catastrophe that was engineered by a group of Fallen divines and their worshipers by warning Golden Scepter about a bad vision he had. This would save his family from being permanently torn apart, as well as his father, who Crimson Star saw dying in his vision, [[SpannerInTheWorks and exposing the culprits responsible]].

* DeityOfHumanOrigin: He was once a mortal demi-divine unicorn, but would go through an InsufferableGenius phase until he was injured and blinded saving a classmate from a runaway, out-of-control carriage. The revelation that his eye injuries became permanently untreatable, and the fact that he became no better than those he once mistreated contributed to [[BreakTheHaughty his ego shattering]], though he had to be helped by his family when he developed unhealthy methods to atone for his actions, such as turning himself into a scapegoat. Eventually, he would eventually become an immortal demi-Alicorn by [[TheAtoner doing a lot of good deeds to make up for his arrogant behavior]], such as helping his classmates improve their academic learning, and practicing complicated magical techniques with them. The fact that he was able to do so in the years [[BigBrotherBully Fanged Paw]] was gone in exile surprised his older brother when he came back a few years later.
* DisabledInTheAdaptation: Played with. [[TabletopGame/Warhammer40000 Magnus]]'s loss of one of his eyes in canon [[DependingOnTheWriter depended on who wrote him]] - either he was a mutant born with only one eye, or he once had two eyes but gave one away when he made a pact with the Chaos god Tzeentch. Crimson Star, his pony counterpart, is completely blind in the Codexverse, due to having saved a classmate in a carriage accident that left him horribly injured.

* LargeAndInCharge: Much like [[TabletopGame/Warhammer40000 Magnus the Red]], he's taller than most of his brothers, even prior to Ascension to demi-godhood, dwarfed only by his father. He's also a benevolent Prince and a major political leader, as well as a military commander in his father's empire.

* LongRangeFighter: Double-subverted. He is quite capable of participating in close combat, and like [[TabletopGame/Warhammer40000 Magnus the Red]], he wields a tall, large-bladed glaive through which he can channel his psychic powers. However, he prefers to use his magic as well as long-range weapons to pick off his enemies from afar, such as {{Magitek}} crossbows that allow him to use his psychic magic as ammunition. A Codexverse drabble has Fanged Paw poke fun at this by calling him a "magic-slinging bookworm who'd rather take potshots at the enemy" during their BodyCountCompetition argument.

Eventually, Fanged Paw would ''snap'' and bully Crimson Star in turn, even after the latter was blinded and fell into a severe depression over his JerkassRealization. However, after Fanged Paw was exiled by Golden Scepter for giving his own brother a ''vicious'' NoHoldsBarredBeatdown and leaving near him death, Crimson Star would gradually recover and properly achieve CharacterDevelopment by doing good things to make up for his arrogant and disdainful behavior, eventually Ascending to demi-Alicornhood. He would also forgive Fanged Paw for what he had done, something that made Fanged Paw [[TearsOfJoy cry]] when he came back from exile a few years later ([[SandInMyEyes he still denies that he cried of his own volition, however]]).
** That being said, while he has since reconciled with Fanged Paw, that still doesn't stop them from bickering, annoying, and snarking at each other. One Codexverse drabble had him get into an argument with Fanged Paw over [[BodyCountCompetition how many kills they each got]].

* AntiRoleModel: Deconstructed. One of his younger brothers, Steel Barricade, idolized him for being so intelligent and good at performing excellently in many areas such as History, Magic, and Psionics, though he ironically believes that his brother has the potential to become better than him in many ways. Unfortunately, while Crimson Star genuinely loved and respected Steel Barricade as an intellectual and a brother, it didn't stop his own flaws and vices from influencing Steel Barricade to the point where he became another InsufferableGenius who would bully one of their older brothers, Clear Voice, out of petty jealousy. Him being blinded in a carriage accident didn't make Steel Barricade realize the error of his ways, it just made his behavior even worse. Eventually, Crimson Star got fed up with his younger brother's behavior and intervened in a violent duel he instigated with Clear Voice by shielding Clear Voice with his own body and [[CurbStompBattle blowing away Steel Barricade with his psychic powers]], despite still recovering from injuries given by [[BigBrotherBully Fanged Paw]]. In-universe, he acknowledged that he was such a bad influence on Steel Barricade and deeply regrets it, so he has been trying to make amends with his younger brother even to this day.
* TheArchmage: Much like Magnus, his [[CaptainErsatz character inspiration]], he's currently one of ''the'' most powerful psychics in Equus, being surpassed only by his father, Golden Scepter, which is rather fitting since they both embody Psionics. However, it is believed that Crimson Star has the potential to equal or even surpass Golden Scepter himself one day.
* AstralProjection: It's noted in his entry that as part of his PsychicPowers, he can produce an astral form of himself for certain attacks, though that leaves him vulnerable to certain spiritual and supernatural threats. ** After he was blinded saving a classmate from a runaway, out-of-control carriage, and his attempts to restore his sight were swiftly ended when Golden Scepter killed the demon he summoned [[DealWithTheDevil in exchange for a cure]], Crimson Star became rather depressed realizing that [[JerkassRealization he is now no better than those he deemed beneath his intelligence]]. He initially tried to atone for his actions by turning himself into a SilentScapegoat that everyone, including his own brothers, can [[PayEvilUntoEvil retaliate against as they saw fit]], leading to him getting severely injured by Fanged Paw, Death Shroud, and Red Blade. But after he was saved by [[BigBrotherInstinct Blazing Hoof]] and taken to the infirmary, he would be called out by Golden Scepter for torturing himself excessively for the sake of atonement, [[DeathSeeker not caring if he'll potentially die in the end or if his loved ones would be affected by his death]]. This would lead to Crimson Star learning the proper way to redeem himself and made amends with those he had wronged by helping them improve their academic learning and practicing complex magical and psychic techniques with them.

* TheArchmage: Much like Magnus, his [[CaptainErsatz character inspiration]], he's currently one of ''the'' most powerful psychics in Equus, rivaled only by his father, Golden Scepter, which is rather fitting since they both embody Psionics. However, it is believed that Crimson Star has the potential to equal or even surpass Golden Scepter himself one day.

** His InsufferableGenius behavior. Even if he did have the intelligence and magical power to back it up, Crimson Star acted like an arrogant jerk, which served to alienate his friends and family as he deemed those who weren't at "his level" were deemed beneath him. Furthermore, if he was called out on his actions, he would [[NeverMyFault claim that the only thing he's "guilty" of is the pursuit of knowledge itself]]. Fanged Paw, who he treated coldly for developing [[AntiMagic Disruption magic]] would grow to resent and hate him so much that either they would constantly be on edge even if they're far away from each other in the same room, or get into violent fights that [[PapaWolf Golden Scepter]] would always try to stop.

* {{Telepathy}}: His entry notes that one of his PsychicPowers is far-reaching telepathy. After he was blinded saving a classmate in a carriage accident, he started developing ways to get around, including establishing {{Psychic Link}}s with his family and soldiers from his Thousand Sons legion to see through their eyes.

* InterclassFriendship: Despite being a demi-Alicorn Prince, he befriended Jasper, a young Abyssinian Terran Imperial soldier, over sharing a love for books and history. This would consequently protect Jasper from being tormented by Terran Pony soldiers, [[LaserGuidedKarma who got yelled at by Crimson Star and then disciplined by his father and oldest brother once they caught wind of bullying within their armies]].
* InterspeciesFriendship: A canonized Codexverse quote reveals that he became friends with a young Abyssinian Terran Imperial soldier named Jasper, due to him sharing a love for history and books. When Crimson Star learned that Jasper was being constantly bullied by a group of Terran Pony soldiers, he proceeded to furiously yell at them for their atrocious behavior, and made good on his threat to let Golden Scepter and his brothers know by informing them of what happened. Golden Scepter himself has approved of his eighth son's friendship with Jasper, but has wondered if Jasper is a {{Reincarnation}} of an [[WebAnimation/IfTheEmperorHadATextToSpeechDevice often ridiculed and disrespected Golden Imperium Captain who befriended one of his magically-inclined Generals]].

* PayEvilUntoEvil: Deconstructed. After being blinded and having a JerkassRealization over his actions, he became so depressed that he was willing to atone for his actions by becoming a SilentScapegoat, and letting everyone he had wronged, including his own brothers, retaliate against him as they saw fit. This is because he believed that further injury to himself was "well-deserved" and [[DeathSeeker not caring if he would end up dying or not]]. It would be deconstructed in that Golden Scepter saw this as excessive self-torture that wouldn't really solve anything, and after taking Crimson Star to the royal infirmary to recover from wounds given by [[BigBrotherBully Fanged Paw]], Golden Scepter calls out his son for forsaking everything, including his own life, for the sake of atonement while not caring about how his death might affect those who love him, and points out that there are ''better'' ways for him to make amends. An entry addendum reveals that both the trauma from losing his eyesight, and his depression from letting himself become a scapegoat for everyone he had wronged, were what factored into his blindness becoming permanent, as they ingrained themselves into his psyche so deeply that they "locked" his injuries in some kind of stasis, making even metaphysical healing impossible.

* PhotographicMemory: As the Alicorn demigod of Knowledge, he has a photographic memory that allows him to easily recall what he had learned, no matter how long ago it was.

** After he was blinded saving a classmate in a horrible carriage accident, Crimson Star attempted to research ways to cure his disability, which led to him [[DealWithTheDevil summoning a demon in exchange for having his sight restored]] out of desperation. If [[PapaWolf Golden Scepter]] hadn't intervened and swiftly put an end to his research, Crimson Star would have been even ''more'' screwed than he already was and possibly would have damned more people in his quest as well.
** His attempts to turn himself into a SilentScapegoat are also deconstructed. Crimson Star had become so depressed from [[JerkassRealization realizing how much of a jerk he had been]] that he essentially became suicidal, believing that he could achieve redemption by letting everyone he had wronged, including his own brothers, [[PayEvilUntoEvil retaliate against him as they saw fit]] even if he'll potentially end up dying in the end. He ended up being proven wrong because regardless of his previous behavior, there are those who genuinely love him and want to redeem him; Blazing Hoof was willing to protect Crimson Star by himself after he found the latter getting beaten up by Fanged Paw, Red Blade, and Death Shroud. And after Crimson Star was taken to the royal infirmary to heal, Golden Scepter would call out his son on "excessively torturing" himself, informing him that turning himself into a scapegoat isn't going to solve anything, and that there are better ways to achieve redemption instead of forsaking even his own life to do it. In addition, by becoming a scapegoat, Crimson Star ended up hurting even his loved ones, who would be rightly upset if he were to actually die.

* {{Reincarnation}}: Discussed; a heated argument with Written Word later causes Golden Scepter to wonder if all of his sons, including Crimson Star, are reincarnations of his Generals from the Imperium era. Luminiferous assures him that even if they are, all of his sons are still unique individuals with their own thoughts and feelings, and he has enough knowledge and experience to ensure that they'll have the "brighter future" that his Generals did not. True to form, it's because of Golden Scepter's good parenting that Crimson Star would be broken of the arrogance that haunted his predecessor, ensuring that he would never repeat his predecessor's mistakes and allowing him to redeem himself for his own and eventually Ascend.

He believes, despite Palatine Phoenix's worries of the possible consequences, that the Weathersmiths' lore will save the Pegasi and help them achieve new heights with their enlightenment.

* WoundThatWillNotHeal: An entry addendum reveals that at the time he was blinded saving a classmate from a carriage accident, his injuries would have allowed healing to work. However, Crimson Star was so desperate to get his eyesight back that he [[DealWithTheDevil tried summoning demonic forces and making bargains with them in exchange for healing his eyes]], which unfortunately screwed him over, though it's still debated on whether the nether energies present had tainted his eye injuries, or Golden Scepter's intervention had left the state of his son's eyes 'incomplete' as the demon was in the middle of performing the transaction. Medical and magical analyses revealed some months later that the carriage accident not only physically crippled Crimson Star, it damaged ''his very soul'' - the trauma from losing his eyesight, combined with the emotional/mental depression he would suffer from both [[JerkassRealization realizing the folly of his arrogance]] and letting himself become a [[SilentScapegoat scapegoat]] for everyone he had wronged, ingrained themselves into his psyche so deeply that his injuries were permanently "locked" in stasis, making even metaphysical healing impossible. Golden Scepter had planned to heal Crimson Star as he embodies the [[HealingHands healing aspect]] of his Psionics domain, but his [[{{Seers}} psychic foresight]] offered him a vision where his son's injuries would lead to him [[BreakTheHaughty learning the value of humility]], which [[AdultFear tore him up inside]] because he wanted Crimson Star to become a better person, but the thought of manipulating his own sons to get the result he wanted completely disgusted him. Unfortunately, he underestimated Crimson Star's desperation and by the time he intervened, it was too late, something that he [[MyGreatestFailure deeply regrets]].

* TheAtoner: Much like what his father did years before, he would atone for the bad things he had done when he was an InsufferableGenius, which eventually warranted his Ascension to demi-Alicorn hood.

** After he was blinded saving his classmate from an out-of-control carriage, he tried researching ways to restore his sight, including summoning eldritch and demonic forces. However, his research would be swiftly ended by Golden Scepter, which contributed to his spiral into a deep depression, [[JerkassRealization having realized that he's now on the same level as those he had dismissed and wronged]]. It's noted by his entry that his blindness makes him likely to pause if someone offers him a way to restore his sight, but after going through CharacterDevelopment, he would turn the offers down in the end, as they almost always contain some huge price to pay in return.

* EyeScream: His entry notes that on the day of his accident, his attempts to save a classmate from a runaway, out-of-control carriage left him horribly injured. One of the most prominent of his injuries listed was his loss of sight.

* FriendlyRivalry: It's mentioned in his entry that he has a friendly rivalry with Princess Twilight Sparkle of Equestria, due to both of them being very powerful and intelligent royals.

* GameBreakingInjury: He was permanently blinded in an accident when he saved a classmate from a runaway, out-of-control carriage, horribly injuring himself in the process. According to him, because magic-casters in general heavily rely on sight to perform spells, this would have made Crimson Star a cripple, both in the eyes of the public and the magic community. This would provoke a rather polarizing reaction - while some people, like Fanged Paw (pre-exile), believed that being blinded was well-deserved LaserGuidedKarma, others believe that while Crimson Star did need to be [[BreakTheHaughty taken down a peg or two]], he didn't deserve to be subjected to more horrible things afterwards for his misdeeds, especially after he fell into a severe depression from both a JerkassRealization and learning how to adapt to his disability. Crimson Star himself also believed that being blinded meant that he wouldn't accomplish anything again, or resume his intellectual pursuits. Fortunately for him, Golden Scepter teaching him how to use his psionic magic to "see", while pulling multiple strings to have specialists craft unique books, texts, and scrolls that Crimson Star can still read, all so that his son can still have a future, allowed him to ultimately adapt to his situation.

* TheGift: He was born with incredible innate psychic/magic potential, as well as great intelligence and capacity for learning. It was believed in-universe that his talents came from being born the living embodiment of Golden Scepter's PsychicPowers and his voracious thirst for knowledge. However, being praised and given attention constantly for being a prodigy slowly turned him into an InsufferableGenius of the highest order... until being [[EyeScream blinded]] saving a classmate in a carriage accident and having a JerkassRealization afterwards [[BreakTheHaughty shattered his ego completely]] and humbled him, allowing him to become much kinder and use his talents for good.
* HandicappedBadass: ''Oh yes''. Despite being completely blind, he was still able to learn physical combat and use long-ranged magitek weapons. His psychic potential and capabilities haven't diminished at all, either, and in fact gained more abilities after being blinded to make up for his disability. In battles, he would even [[BashBrothers team up with Fanged Paw]] and help out his older brother by calculating how many magical foes Fanged Paw will face with his ability to sense magic, predicting when and where an enemy will attack with his foresight, and lessening the burden by shrinking large crowds of enemies with magical barrages. He also serves as the "sniper" of the duo, despite being capable of close combat himself, as Crimson Star's patience and disciplined precision allows him to pick off hidden enemies and stragglers that Fanged Paw might have missed.
* HeroicBSOD: He would fall into a severe depression following his loss of sight and his JerkassRealization that he is now no better than those he deemed beneath his intelligence. It got to a point where he was willing to become a SilentScapegoat and let everyone he had wronged, including his own brothers, [[PayEvilUntoEvil retaliate against him as they saw fit]], not caring if he would die in the process or not. * InterclassFriendship: Despite being a demi-Alicorn Prince, he befriended Jasper, a young Abyssinian Terran Imperial soldier, over sharing a love for books and history. This would consequently protect Jasper from being tormented by Terran Pony soldiers, [[LaserGuidedKarma who got yelled at by Crimso
n Star and then disciplined by his father and oldest brother once they caught wind of bullying within their armies]].

* JerkassRealization: After he was blinded saving a classmate in a carriage accident, and subsequent attempts to restore his eyesight through forbidden magic were swiftly ended by Golden Scepter, Crimson Star realized that he was now no better than those he deemed beneath his intelligence, and became rather depressed as a result. It got to a point where he believed that further injury to his person was "well-deserved", even letting Fanged Paw and his few hateful brothers retaliate against him as they saw fit. He would have potentially died if [[BigBrotherInstinct Blazing Hoof]] and [[PapaWolf Golden Scepter]] had not intervened; the latter in particular would call him out for forsaking his own life by scapegoating himself without thinking about how his family and friends would be affected if he were to die. Fortunately, thanks to the benevolent influence of those who genuinely loved him, he was able to learn how to properly redeem himself and become a truly better person.

This would climax into an incident where Blazing Hoof would defend him from Fanged Paw and his other brothers alone, causing Golden Scepter to intervene before things got too bloody.

* PayEvilUntoEvil: After being blinded and having a JerkassRealization over his actions, he became so depressed that he was willing to atone for his actions by becoming a SilentScapegoat, and letting everyone he had wronged, including his own brothers, retaliate against him as they saw fit. This is because he believed that further injury to himself was "well-deserved" and [[DeathSeeker not caring if he would end up dying or not]]. It would be deconstructed in that Golden Scepter saw this as excessive self-torture that wouldn't really solve anything, and after taking Crimson Star to the royal infirmary to recover from wounds given by [[BigBrotherBully Fanged Paw]], Golden Scepter calls out his son for forsaking everything, including his own life, for the sake of atonement while not caring about how his death might affect those who love him, and points out that there are ''better'' ways for him to make amends.

* PsychicPowers: Much like his father, he embodies Psionics, and is believed in-universe to be a living representation of Golden Scepter's psionic talent. His entry notes that while he does have the same far-reaching abilities as his father, such as telepathy, telekinesis, empathy, and teleportation, he's able to take his powers to new heights because of his drive to see how far he can go. As such, he became capable of astral projection, [[PowerOfTheVoid creating black holes]] to suck in and devour his enemies, firing beams of pure psychic energy, and summoning bolts of psychic lightning. Because of his potential and incredible skill, it is believed that he might end up equaling or surpassing Golden Scepter, who is a powerful psychic himself, once he gets "older".

* RedIsHeroic: While it took him [[CharacterDevelopment a long time]] to get to the "Heroic" part, he's a red-furred demi-Alicorn who is also an intelligent, powerful, and benevolent Prince.

* SilentScapegoat: Deconstructed. After he was blinded saving a classmate in a carriage accident, and realizing how huge of a jerk he had been, he spiraled into a severe depression. He didn't even lift a hoof whenever his hateful classmates or brothers bullied him in revenge. believing that getting injured even further by those he had wronged is a "well-deserved" punishment for him.
