* DysfunctionalFamily: The four Devils are all sisters, but none of them save Famine like each other and even that has its limits since [[spoiler:she's plotting to stop Death's advent]].
* EnemyCivilWar: The Horsemen's interests are at odds more than aligned, as Pochita's full power [[GodzillaThreshold was basically all they could agree to fight together]]. The elder Control lists the other three among the Devils she plans to erase once she claims Chainsaw Man's power. Her next incarnation is broadly disinterested in her sisters' schemes, just trying to keep to herself and protect her FamilyOfChoice. After getting stranded on Earth while weakened, War seems desperate to ''avoid'' the others. While Famine asks politely for the new Control's help, she mostly tries to coerce or manipulate the same from War. * EvilIsPetty: They tend to be motivated by basic desires and sometimes do strange things for arbitrary reasons; Control actively wants to remove bad movies from the world (as part of her ControlFreak nature), Yoru kisses Denji after specifically being warned that it was a bad idea, and Famine's entire reason for [[spoiler:trying to avert the apocalypse]] is because she doesn't want to lose her favorite foods.

* HorsemenOfTheApocalypse: A group of extremely powerful [[{{Tulpa}} Devils]] embodying and possessing powers themed for the same concepts the four figures of Christian myth are named after. Interestingly, Famine implies that they're all family, or at least she considers them as such. If so, though, [[DysfunctionalFamily it doesn't seem to be very loving]]. [[spoiler:Ironically, while they're all ''involved'' with a prophesied apocalypse, only Death is actively seeking it. Famine is trying to stop her, dragging War into her plans, though causing smaller disasters in the process. The earlier incarnation of Control also wanted to stop Death, but to cause a ''different'' apocalypse [[WorldOfSilence on her terms]], while the current incarnation can't be bothered either way.]]

** They're all face-blind. Control admits [[ChekhovsGun long before revealing her true nature]] that she can't discern faces, and goes by smell. Yoru and Famine also struggle to tell people apart, and are unable to discern [[spoiler:Denji-as-Chainsaw Man from Pochita in his true form]], despite looking ''very'' different, by anything besides color.

* SheIsTheKing: Despite being called the Four Horse''men'', all of them are female. The term in Japanese is "４人の騎士 (Yonin no Kishi)", which is gender-neutral and literally translates as "Four Knights[[labelnote:or]]"Horse-riding Samurai" if you want to get ''very'' literal[[/labelnote]]", but the biblical term it was derived from was specifically masculine. [[spoiler:There's also Death's alternate title as the "Great ''King'' of Terror".]]

And in Part 2, it's shown that even the Primal Fear Devils stand below the Death Devil in terms of the demonic hierarchy]]

* AmbiguouslyEvil: As detailed under AmbiguousSituation, determining her overall morality at this point is a bit hard due to how little we know about her.
* AmbiguousSituation: While Death is almost certainly very bad news, her distantly future arrival means that there's still a lot we don't know about her, and our only sources of information are her sisters Fami and Nayuta--[[UnreliableExpositor both of whom hate and fear her, and are masters of manipulation and deception]]. We have no idea of her personality, goals, or desires, all things very important to [[HumanoidAbomination the Horsemen]], and we don't know [[AmbiguouslyEvil if she truly is as evil as she is made out to be]]. * ArchEnemy: Fami considers her to be this, as she intends to use Chainsaw Man and the War Devil to slay her in order to avert the prophecised apocalypse for her own reasons.

[[EvilVersusEvil Famine is conducting her machinations all so she can ''stop'' Death from obliterating the world of humans.]] Her influence reaches all the way back to Part 1 since Makima was partially motivated by trying to kill her elder sister in her quest to remove all bad things, and even before the events of the series, she and her sisters were able to weaken Pochita into taking the form of a dog. Needless to say, almost everything in the series happens because of Death.

* ShapeshifterBaggage: Their ability to heal is limited by drinking blood, but is outsize to what they consume. The blood the Bat Devil squeezes out of Denji lets him regrow an arm much larger than a whole human body. Denji in turn regenerates ''that'' with just a mouthful of the Bat Devil's blood. Devils can also grow larger just from eating ''fear''.

* MarsNeedsWomen: As much as devils usually hate humans, a few of them have found them sexually attractive. Disturbingly, two of the three (Fox and Leech) aren't at all humanoid and the latter is just as likely to kill them. At least one is known to have formed a [[InterspeciesRomance genuinely loving romantic relationship]] with a human woman, though it didn't end well (the [[spoiler:Angel]] Devil.)

** Played straighter with the non-humanoid devils, as the fundamentally good individuals (Pochita and Bucky) look strange, but in a silly or cute way, rather than horrifying or intimidating. Interestingly, the Muscle Devil looked similarly harmless until it revealed its true colors and grew many bizarre and monstrous features.

* ClothingDamage: Its powers are weakened on manifestation, so instead of cutting the Public Safety guards to shreds, it just dices up their weapons and their clothing. Fortunately, this is enough to convince the guards to surrender.
