* AngryAngryHippos: He certainly looks like a hippo, and he's one of the villains. Not a very competent one, though.
* BumblingHenchmenDuo: Shares this role with Eggplant Wizard.

to:

* AngryAngryHippos: AmbiguouslyHuman: Unlike his game counterpart, it's never made clear if he's human or if he went through a case of AdaptationSpeciesChange. [[AngryAngryHippos He certainly looks like a hippo, hippo]], and he's one of the villains. Not Kevin even makes jokes about him being a very competent one, though.

* BumblingHenchmenDuo: Shares this role with Eggplant Wizard.Wizard, though the two routinely swap between who's dumber.

* BumblingHenchmenDuo: With King Hippo.

Cat Smile has been renamed to Playful Cat Smile. Moving examples that have enough context for the new trope.

* CatSmile: His character design was given a subtle one, which would become occasionally visible in a few episodes of season one. A select amount of season two episodes, however, make the smile especially noticeable before disappearing by season three.

* AdaptationalAbomination: In the games and most other media, Donkey Kong is roughly 2-3 times the size of [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Mario]]. In ''Captain N'', for whatever reason, his size is comparable to King Kong.

* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: In the comics, Samus ''almost'' goes ahead with some pretty questionable stuff to win Captain N's affections. In one issue where she and Princess Lana are in jail, she almost leaves Lana there when escaping. In another, she ends up in the BadFuture and rejoices that Lana is gone and she can have Kevin all to herself, despite the fact that the bad guys have taken over every world except the garbage planet where Kevin now lives, and by not going back in time and [[ForWantOfANail changing one thing]] she's screwing over everyone in Videoland. She does go back in the end.

* TragicVillain: One issue of the comic had the heroes [[JourneyToTheCenterOfTheMind enter her mind,]] which turns out to be a nightmarish mess of fear and hate, where twisted caricatures of her servants and enemies are eternally trying to hunt down one last remaining shred of decency.

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Just like in the manual of ''VideoGame/MegaMan1'', his name is spelled "Wright", as confirmed by [[https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/captain-game-master-original-dr-1834995202 his model sheet]]. It's also a case of EarlyAdaptationWeirdness, since later ''Mega Man'' productions would consistently localize his name as "Light".
