An omnipotent being who watches over all of the timelines and the entire universe, he makes a sudden appearance during ''Gorod Krovi'', and turns out to be perhaps the most important character of the entire series.

* AmbiguouslyEvil: There are some ominous signs that Monty is not the benevolent guy he's cracked up to be. Trying to erase the Primis crew is one thing, he meant no harm and genuinely came to like them by that point. But in his last notes, Primis Dempsey mentioned if Monty ever found a certain place, they'd all be doomed.
* BeenThereShapedHistory: The true creator of all the Perk drinks and other machines seen throughout the entire series? Not Group 935, this guy.
** To a more literal extent, there are a number of extra radios scattered across all eight remastered maps of the ''Zombie Chronicles'' DLC, with him explaining a fair amount about the map in question - with some not-too-subtle ribbing.
* BigGood: He's the most powerful non-hostile entity encountered in the game mode so far and he's willing to help the main four save the universe. * CoolOldGuy: For the most part, he's a wry, helpful guy who's also an ancient being who's been around since the beginning of the universe.

* PaletteSwap: In the first two games; his model is a modified normal enemy model from the campaign of ''World At War''. His first-person view in ''Black Ops'' is the same as the NVA model used for that game's multiplayer.

A crazy German Doctor who worked for Group 935 in the past and is behind (almost) ''everything'' in the story, including nuking the Earth. From [=TranZit=] to Buried, he is the Demonic Announcer. Takes up the green slot on the scoreboard.

* ObfuscatingInsanity: Played with. Even though he's still very much insane, he knows far more than he lets on about the zombies, Group 935, and Samantha. By ''Shangri-La'', the others finally notice he's up to something big, but at that point it's too late to stop him.

* ThoseWackyNazis: Subverted. Group 935 was around LONG before the Nazi Party, it's just that Group 935 exchanged their Wonder Weapons for funding, though they never saw service. It's implied Maxis never intended to help the Nazi Party and was just stalling, even when the Wunderwaffe exceeded expectations, and refused to mass-produce it for the Nazi's. Despite this, he still wears a Nazi uniform, so he still is technically a Nazi.

* VillainProtagonist: [[PlayedWith Apparently]], if you chose to help Maxis, Maxis will take over the zombies, but will kill them all nonetheless, [[NecessarilyEvil regretfully.]] Apparently, Edward was right when he mentioned that [[{{Foreshadowing}} "Maxis will kill you all!"]]

* TheMafia :Sal was TheDon, Billy his hitman, Finn was in charge of gambling's fraud and Albert was the money handler of Sal's mob.

* TheChainsofCommanding: It's heavily implied by one of his downed speeches that he didn't particularly like being a mob boss.

* DirtyCoward: When he see himself about to fight zombies, he bolts, leaving the others to fend for themselves. Dr. Monty is a mysterious being who is responsible for the creation of the Perk-A-Colas, Gobblegums, power drops, as well as the very important [[{{Macguffin}} Summoning Key]]. An omnipotent being who watches over all of the timelines and the entire universe, he makes a sudden appearance during ''Gorod Krovi'', and turns out to be perhaps the most important character of the entire series.

* {{Satan}}: It is heavily implied to be Old Scratch himself controlling the zombies in Mob of the Dead (although the quotes are Samantha's reused), what with the Satanic motifs decorating the prison, the zombies having red eyes, and the characters debating if they're in purgatory. The big clue, however, is entering either 115 or 935 into the electric number pad, and an unknown voice speaks, changing the numbers to 666. Additionally, Samantha had stated that there was something worse than even Richtofen in the Aether...
