* BlackAndNerdy: Subverted. His obsession with ninjas, asian martial arts, and martial art movies are all stereotypically nerdy, but he he is more of a bully than a nerd.

* DirtyCoward[=/=]GetBackHereBoss: In the last confrontation, Gary leads you up the dilapidated bell tower, hoping you'll slip and fall. He [[IShallTauntYou fires some taunts]] and turns over wheelbarrows full of cement blocks from above.

* NoHistoricalFiguresWereHarmed: While never confirmed he bears some concerning similarities to [[TheSociopath Eric Harris]] of UsefulNotes/Columbine notoriety. Like Gary, Harris was an [[LonersAreFreaks outsider-turned-bully]], [[ManipulativeBastard used his social skills to manipulate authorities and peers]], had his own [[TheSocialDarwinist self-serving beliefs regarding the strong and weak]], and [[PoliticallyIncorrectVillain admired the Nazis]], taking pride in all these characteristics, too. The fact that both are aspiring mass-murderers also probably helps.

* TheLastOfTheseIsNotLikeTheOthers: More like "The First of These" as they're the first clique Jimmy faces, but it still counts. Out of all of the cliques, they fit the format the least, as they have no dodgeball team, no [[TheSmurfettePrinciple exclusive female character]], no exclusive challenge to unlock more turf, no graffiti insults about them, seemingly nobody that can be seen as second-in-command, and they don't respect the campus' social hierarchy. They appear to just be a group of friends who have banded together under Russell's leadership, as they are known as "The Bullies", "Russell and his boys", and "Russell's crew", further proving that they are a more aggressive version of non-clique students. They're also the only clique that does not turn on Jimmy during the events of Chapter 5.

* ThinSkinnedBully: Averted hard. Despite what their methods may tell you, as noted above BoisterousWeakling, should any clique member wander into their turf they'll happily pick on them despite said clique member being capable of easily handing them their asses. This shows that despite mainly picking on those weaker than them, they're ''not'' cowards and will not hesitate to harass even experienced fighters just because they can.

* DropTheHammer: "The Tenements" ends with a showdown with Norton -- and his sledgehammer, but not just any kind of sledgehammer, one with a ''massive'' head. This would be a good time to load the slingshot and ''run''.

* StrawCharacter: Subverted; his doggedly old-fashioned conservatism it mostly what makes him an unpleasant hardass, but it's also the source of his sympathetic qualities, too.

* AlwaysABiggerFish: They're just gang of friends who attack Jimmy for being a newcomer. Once they're out of the way, the rest of the cliques become Jimmy's problem. Unlike the rest of the cliques, the bullies don't abandon Jimmy once Gary takes control.

* FlatCharacter: [[spoiler: Despite being the main villain of the game, he only appears in cutscenes where he brags about his plans, stating how he hates western society and talking to other students to cause problems for Jimmy. There's no explanation for his character or an explanation for why he wants to take over except his ego and sociopathy.]]

* ObviouslyEvil: He bullies Petey in front of Jimmy, leads the trio in causing trouble, verbally abuses his friends, dressed as a nazi for Halloween, openly talks about a big plan, and he has a scar on his face with an [=SS=] haircut. The only way he'd more obvious as a villain would be if he had the words "Definitely won't stab you in the back" emblazoned on his sweater vest. Granted, this may have been a result of his [=ADHD=] since he's too excited about his plans to control himself and he's deliberately refusing to take his medication.

* EvenEvilHasStandards: Nope. Averted. There is no line that he seems unwilling to cross. Even in the last fight with him, it's unknown whether he was chucking things at Jimmy to wear him down for a fistfight or ''send him flying off the roof of the building.''
