* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: The beginning of Book 3 is this in a nutshell for Zuko. He finally gets to go home, where he's welcomed as a triumphant hero to an adoring nation, his father praises him, and he gets the girl (Mai). He just had to [[spoiler:betray the man who stood by him for the last three years and saw him as another son, which causes him no small amount of angst.]]

* PerpetualFrowner: "I'm never happy."

* PerpetualFrowner: "I'm never happy."" Though it is averted around Mai, and [[spoiler:after he joins Team Avatar.]]

Added DiffLines:

* RealityEnsues: There is a noticeable difference between Zuko's physique in Book 1 and the time of "The Beach" in Book 3. Whereas in the former, he's as buff as would be expected from someone who works out day and night, while in the later, he's clearly lost some of that muscle, as a result of spending several months as a refugee.

* AboveGoodAndEvil: He believes that right and wrong are meaningless, believing that the will of the fire lord is the be all and end all.

* ArrangedMarriage: With Ursa. Unlike the standard, it wasn't for political reasons but rather an experiment in SuperpowerfulGenetics.
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: He's [[WordOfGod confirmed]] in [[AllThereInTheManual Avatar Extras]] to be ''the'' most powerful Firebender. The only benders in the world who have a chance of beating him in a straight fight are Aang and Iroh, meaning that Ozai is at worst the second most powerful bender in the world. [[spoiler:Though that's a moot point after he loses his bending.]]

* {{Badass}}: Ozai is described as being the most powerful firebender in the world, during his lifetime. Not to mention that he very nearly kills Aang in their final battle many times.

* TheUnfavourite: It's implied that Azulon favored Iroh over him similar to how he favors Azula over Zuko; the screw up and the prodigy.

Added DiffLines:

* HeroicAmbidexterity: Zuko is trained to [[DualWielding dual wield]] twin scimitars, and uses this skill to fight against benders when he wants to hide his identity and his knowledge of fire bending. When explaining what he was taught he says that when using two swords you have to treat them like "they're part of the same body" and move them in sync.

* {{Badass}}: Through his sheer {{determinat|or}}ion.

* {{Badass}}: Easily one of the most badass characters in the show, by miles. While he hides it behind his CoolOldGuy facade, when he fights, he's devastating in combat, one of the strongest fighters in the series.

* {{Badass}}: See AuthorityEqualsAsskicking.

* VillainWithGoodPublicity: He is very popular with his citizens, even after being deposed, as seen in "The Promise". This is thanks to him developing a [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cult_of_personality cult of personality]] where, as shown in ''The Headband'', Fire Nation schools routinely teach their students to adore him and even rewrite history to favor him and his predecessors.

* {{Badass}}: When you can tame the Prince of the Fire Nation and save him from Royal Guard Fire Benders with only knife-throwing skills without striking vitals flawlessly, you're this.

* {{Badass}}: In a world full of benders, she's more than capable of holding her own.

* {{Badass}}: He sends the Gaang running scared in their first fight with him.

* TheVamp: She does it without realizing it. The one time she tried to seduce someone, she failed miserably.
