* ReplacementGoldfish: In the manga, Rin's likeness is based on Hoshie Tenma. Hoshie was Dr. Tenma's wife who divorced him after the death of Tobio and tried searching for her son at a circus. While she ended up dying of a heart attack, Astro and Hoshie's relationship was notably friendly which is a stark contrast to Tenma's treatment towards him. Astro even asks Ochanomizu to design his robot mother after Hoshie due to their close relationship.
