He immediately chafes at the idea of taking orders at all, and once he realizes that 621 is a WorthyOpponent, it leads to Freud’s BloodKnight tendencies getting the best of him, causing to him ignore the mission just to fight 621]].

* FantasyCounterpartCulture: A high-tech, sporty Italian AC parts company that focuses on speed, style, and flair. They're Lamborghini if they were making giant robot parts instead of high performance cars. [[spoiler:And like Lamborghini, Elcano does their homework on a rival’s machinery specs, Schneider, eventually using that information to create an AceCustom model that sought to improve on the rival’s designs while adding their own flair in appearances.]]

This is in contrast to Snail's OPEN FAITH, which is a top-of-the-line hulking behemoth, entirely Arquebus-made, and uses mostly Arquebus weapons and accessories (and one of the two things he uses not directly made by Arquebus is made by Schneider, an Arquebus subsidiary).

* MinMaxing: Thematically speaking, Freud built his AC on the idea of using what he considered best for his style of fighting, rather than using strictly Arquebus and Schneider parts when compared to most of the other Vespers. While it’s unknown if there were any existing rules that Vespers cannot use another company’s parts, or it was simply considered taboo within the company, Freud’s excellent fighting skills likely allowed to ignore those rules. And considering [[TheDreaded how feared he is]], no one would likely enforce those rules if they existed against him anyways.

In the "Alea Iacta Est" route, Pater's polite behavior also goes flying out the window in favor of rage against 621 for having killed his friend and mentor V.III O'Keeffe.]]

[[spoiler:Furlong is revealed to be working on the sly with Elcano, helping develop their new AC model ALBA, which is designed to put the Rubicon Liberation Front on an even keel with the latest generation [=ACs=] being fielded by Arquebus and Balam.]] [[spoiler:In addition, a wrecked AC of "unknown affiliation" (likely Furlong) found inside Depth 3 of Watchpoint Alpha contains observation data indicating that the pilot's faction was monitoring every major player in the Coral War, including the Planetary Closure Alliance and Overseer, and was planning to provide indirect aid to Arquebus. Assuming this mysterious third party is Furlong, then the corp not only had a better overall perspective of the Coral War than any of its participants (especially considering they knew about Overseer from the outset), but it was also playing multiple sides against each other without them realizing.]]
