The defenders of Mobius who oppose the tyrannical rule of Dr. Eggman. Originally stationed in Knothole, the team waged war against "Robotropolis" to reclaim their old kingdom.\\\
Eventually they succeeded and Sally's father was restored as King--but they fell prey to internal politics as the survivors flooded back into Robotnik's rusted-out city, and the reconstruction effort was at a standstill. Other villains would come and go, such as Ixis Naugus, Mammoth Mogul (kind of a mix of Wilson Fisk and Vandal Savage), and the High Sheriff (a [[TheRemnant remnant]] of Robotnik's colonial force). When "Eggman" arrived from another reality to seize the city, the population was forced out again and the comic [[ResetButton reset to square one.]]\\\
This new Doctor wasn't there to play games; he later razed Knothole to the ground, and the Freedom Fighters relocated to New Mobotropolis, which was terraformed to conveniently resemble their old kingdom before Robotnik took it over. This new city was a lot harder to conceal than Knothole was, [[TakeOverTheCity so it continually fell under attack]], though it remained their headquarters for the duration of this timeline. Along the way, they did battle with the bellicose Dingo Regime, the returning Dark Legion (though they were primarily Knuckles villains), and the Suppression Squad (a MirrorUniverse version of the Freedom Fighters who hail from a hilariously-opposite version of Sonic's world and debuted way earlier in the comic).\\\
In the Post-Reboot world, the Freedom Fighters eventually created a new mobile airbase dubbed the ''Sky Patrol'' (A direct reference to a`GaidenGame, ''VideoGame/TailsSkyPatrol'') to better aid the world wherever they need it.

* BadassCrew: Oh so very much. They were able save entire planets through their teamwork.
* CharacterMagneticTeam: They also have many different factions around the world due to their effots.
* LaResistance: Started off as a small ban of rebels fighting against Eggman's tyranny, now they defend the entire world from his influence.
* MoralMyopia: The Freedom Fighters are genuinely altruistic and courageous, but still flawed beings prone to impulsive decisions and sometimes conflict with allies over their inability to practice what they preach:
** Despite being the ones to put the [[NotSoOmniscientCouncilOfBickering Council of Acorn]] in charge in the first place to keep order, they [[ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight routinely defy or ignore them]] whenever they don't make the decisions they want. Sally, ironically the most strategic and political of the group, was actually rather bewildered and hurt when they took offense to this.
** They have a wavering view of using firearms DependingOnTheWriter. Rotor to his credit lampshaded his hypocrisy on the matter at one point.
** In issue 221, Mina calls them out on this. When Sally tries to lecture her on being responsible after her songs end up rallying the public against [[ArtificialIntelligence Nicole]], Mina turns it around and retorts she and the rest of the Freedom Fighters have no room to lecture her on responsibility considering the fact that even after Nicole was [[BrainwashedAndCrazy hijacked]] by the [[{{Technopath}} Iron Queen]], they continue to keep her in power at New Mobotropolis and don't even bother coming up with any failsafes to prevent her from being compromised again.
* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: Let's see, an arrogant speedster, a princess, a young prodigy, a coward, a cyborg, and a weapons expert and the only thing they had in common was their desire to protect their home. And that's not even counting the later additions to the team.
* SignatureTeamTransport: Post-reboot, the Sky Patrol counts. It looks like a giant bumper seen in most of the series` games.
* TeenageMutantSamuraiWombats: Well, they sort of count. The whole "Teenage Superhero Animals" part anyway.
* TheTeam:
** TheLeader[=/=]RebelliousPrincess: Sally, the original founder and the one who directs the other members on their tasks.
** TheLancer[=/=]TheAce[=/=]TheHero: Sonic. He's still the main character of the series, but prefers to be out on the field in the thick of the battle and also get under Sally's skin occasionally with his attitude. He's also the team's best warrior.
** TheSmartGuy[=/=]ChildProdigy: Tails. Originally was just the TagalongKid with no combat prowess, but grew into a capable asset of the team. He's also Sonic's KidSidekick whenever they're on a mission together.
** TheChick[=/=]{{Tsundere}}: Amy. She's very eager to hit things with her hammer, but she's also compassionate and always tries to understand someone if they need help.
** GeniusBruiser: Rotor. Secondary SmartGuy along with Tails, but is much more physically capable after the Reboot. And his tech skills are generally in weaponry.
** BadassNormal: Antoine. No special superpowers or physical enhancements, he's just a really good swordsman.

** MissionControl: Nicole. Being a program, she can communicate and direct the crew from time to time, but mostly stays inside Sally's handheld.

* RelativeButton: Given how many friends and relatives they've lost in their war against Eggman and other villains, the Freedom Fighters are ''very'' protective of whoever they have left. Even allies such as Mina and Silver met an uncharacteristic fury from them for making accusations towards their group. For cases such as Mina and Dr Ellidy however, it does sometimes get thrown back at them, since many are more than willing to point out that [[ProtagonistCenteredMorality they're not the only ones who lost people]] and in some cases it's even because of ''their'' [[NiceJobBreakingItHero poorer decisions]].
* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: They find themselves increasingly falling into this in the face of the [[ObstructiveBureaucrat Council of Acorn]] pre-reboot. Best displayed during the "Bold New Moebius" arc; when Scourge and the Suppression Squad invade Mobius Prime and boot them out of Freedom HQ, the Council refuses to let them retake their base in favor of focusing on their ongoing assault on Eggman, believing that Scourge couldn't possibly make as much of a gain on their world as he did on his own. In response, the Freedom Fighters not only chase Scourge out of Freedom HQ on their own, but counter-invade Moebius to deal with him for good.
* TagalongKid: Cream. She's by far the youngest and least combat orientated member, but determined to defend her home.

* TrueCompanions: Have been together for years and been though heck and back and still made it out friends.
* WillTheyOrWontThey: Thanks to RuleOfDrama, the comic is chock full of complicated [[LoveDodecahedron love tangles]] with each character dating pretty much everyone else through the entire series run. In all of this, the only confirmed romances are Sonic and Sally, who are MarriedInTheFuture (they were also the OfficialCouple in WesternAnimation/SonicTheHedgehogSatAM, which inspired this series) and Bunnie and Antoine, who married (before being roughly broken up again late in the series). [[NoRomanticResolution Then the comic ended]], preventing any of the other romances (of which there are many) from concluding.

Billed as "the Hero of Mobius," this version of Sonic is still brash, irreverent, and cocky, but also has heroing as a full-time job that he couldn't quit if he wanted to ([[JumpedAtTheCall not that he does]]). Robotnik's coup against the government happened when Sonic was five years old, and for the ~10 years of ComicBookTime since he's spent the majority of his energy enthusiastically opposing him. Though not the tactical leader of the Freedom Fighters, he is certainly their most iconic member, and one of their greatest assets against Robotnik. Sonic's ego, though undeniable, is braced somewhat by the [[ThePowerOfFriendship spirit of teamwork]] and a [[AllLovingHero genuinely selfless impulse]], against a backdrop of sobering losses to a tyrant who has wreaked havoc amongst the lives of Sonic and his friends and family. Thus at his worst Sonic is occasionally thoughtless or insensitive, but generally friendly and easygoing, quick to forgive and loyal to a fault.

While some of the events have changed Post-Genesis Wave, not much as really changed about his history save for the fact he's now parent-less (due to the lawsuit as his parents were a Pender's creation).

!!Tropes Applying to Both Versions
* AdaptationalJerkass: While not to the extent of his ''ComicBook/SonicTheComic'' counterpart, Sonic's flaws are emphasized more in this incarnation, and he verges into JerkWithAHeartOfGold territory more often than not. Examples include the following:
** On top of dating Fiona despite full knowledge of Tails' crush on her, during the House of Cards arc, he ends up criticizing and insulting Tails' father for kick-starting a VelvetRevolution, and when trying to stop his mother from breaking him out of jail to continue it, fully expects Tails to be 100% okay with him doing so, going so far as to gloat to Rosemary and Amadeus' faces that even if they are his parents, Tails [[HeroWorshipper worships]] him and will [[EasilyForgiven get over it]]. Instead, Tails is justifiably pissed over all of that, on top of his dating Fiona, and hearing that leads him to snap and try to beat the crap out of Sonic.
** In comparison to his games counterpart, who was perfectly willing to forgive and forget Silver for doing such acts as trying to kill him out if misguided heroism, Sonic's attitude towards him for similar acts here is much less relaxed, leading him to end up smashing Silver through a wall, trying to Spin Dash him to oblivion, and give him a brutal TheReasonYouSuckSpeech. Even after calming down, the next time they meet, Sonic still sees red, telling Silver in no uncertain terms that he's ''done'' listening to anything he has to say and ordering him to screw off. [[JustifiedTrope To be fair]], this was right after Sonic had just witnessed Sally's roboticization and Antoine, one of the people Silver [[InspectorJavert accused of being a traitor]] with little-to-no evidence to back it up, had been rendered comatose [[HeroicSacrifice after saving Elias and the Acorns from Metal Sonic]].
* AngstWhatAngst: InUniverse, Sonic's more likely to smile and crack a few jokes than wallow in depression. Though it takes a ton to make Sonic sad and down.
* AntiHero: Like other portrayals, but the comics tend to emphasize his flaws a bit more without [[ComicBook/SonicTheComic making him an out-and-out Jerk Ass.]]
* BigBrotherInstinct[=/=]BigBrotherMentor: Usually towards Tails, though he sometimes passes it off to younger heroes.
* BigEater: Sometimes justified as a side-effect of how much energy his SuperSpeed antics burn up, but even so, Sonic can really pack away a lot of food without gaining weight.
* {{Catchphrase}}: "Let's do it to it!"
* ChildSoldier: He's been fighting Robotnik since he was a kid, all the while avoiding most of the {{Angst}} that comes with this trope.
* CompositeCharacter: Of Sonic's myriad incarnations. He's got a bit of the adventure loving hero from the games and ''Anime/SonicX'', while also retaining some of his 90's-era attitude from his American portrayals, along with a sprinkling of ''WesternAnimation/AdventuresOfSonicTheHedgehog'''s comedic trickster.
* DeadpanSnarker: Takes this trait from the games and amps it UpToEleven.
* {{Determinator}}: No matter the odds or how bleak it looks, Sonic ''never'' gives up, and this inexhaustible determination is one of his strongest character traits.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: A recurring problem with him. Pre-reboot, this nearly cost him his friendship with Tails when he, hurting over a recent breakup with Sally, pursued a relationship with Fiona despite full knowledge of Tails' own crush on her. When Tails confronts him about being so insensitive over it in issue 179, Sonic explains that he knew that Tails liked Fiona and that she had no interest in him, so he went out with her to prevent Tails' own feelings from getting hurt and hoped it would help him get over it, while acknowledging that it was a spur of the moment idea and he didn't think before he took action.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: Some aspects of Sonic's character from the earlier stories seem jarring when compared to elements that have become generally accepted aspects of his character. Such as his [[SuperDrowningSkills lack of hydrophobia]], which has since been incorporated into more recent stories.
* GuileHero: Despite his hotheadedness and impulsiveness, and being BookDumb, Sonic is good at thinking on his feet and turning a situation to his favor with limited time and resources. Best shown from issues 175-177: after being curb-stomped by Eggman's PoweredArmor, Sonic is able to put together a rescue mission to save all of Knothole's inhabitants from the Egg Grapes with just the help of Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Nicole. When Eggman attacks New Mobotropolis in a rage and Sonic goes out to confront him, the doc expects a repeat of their previous fight with the exact same results; instead, Sonic had deduced that his new armor was ''[[CripplingOverspecialization only]]'' [[CripplingOverspecialization designed to face and outfight him]] and brings along the rest of the Freedom Fighters and Chaotix as backup, utterly destroying the armor and forcing a humiliated Eggman to retreat.
* HeroicSecondWind: PlotArmor prevents him from losing outright. If he ''does'' get his butt kicked by the end of one issue, or at least close to, it's guaranteed he'll kick back in the next one.
* HeroicWillpower: Sonic's willpower is practically his secondary super-power, after his trademark SuperSpeed.
* HiddenDepths: Sometimes shows his sensitivity to his closest friends in rare situations where he isn't on bravado frat boy mode.
* IntangibleMan: This version has the ability to vibrate his molecules to pass through objects a la Franchise/TheFlash.
* InvincibleHero: Definitely averted. While the comics were mandated to have Sonic always win, there was plenty enough LoopholeAbuse allowed to how gruelling or bittersweet a victory it could be so as to keep him fallible. The best example is during the events of Sonic #175, where Eggman manages to obliterate Knothole HQ and hand Sonic his prickly behind. [[HeroicSecondWind What happened later, however....]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Occasionally, he will stumble into this role.
* LeeroyJenkins: One of Sonic's biggest flaws is a tendency to let his impatience get the best of him, leading to him rushing headlong into danger.
* LetsGetDangerous: It's very rare, but there are times when he drops the corny jokes and carefree demeanor, and focuses on taking out the threat at hand.
* LightningBruiser: Very much MadeOfIron and one of the strongest and the fastest in Mobius, in contrast to his FragileSpeedster games incarnation.
* MadeOfIron: Sonic's taken a lot of punishment over the years, but even after being beat down, he'll get right up and come back for more. His frequent use of the power-boosting Power Rings (and, by extension, the Chaos Emeralds) may have played a factor to this trope.
* NotSoDifferent: From characters like Knuckles, in that his own background is less than straightforward. The difference is that Sonic tends to take it all in stride.
* ThePowerOfFriendship: Sonic believes in it.
* SuperMode: Super Sonic, of course.
* SuperSpeed: He's not called Sonic for nothing. He can run faster than the speed of sound. He can run even faster by performing a figure-8 technique with his legs. He can also use his body and quills like a buzzsaw.
* TookALevelInJerkass: ''Definitely'' not a total jerk, but his tendency to let his ego rage out of control and insensitive behavior is called out more often than some of his [[WesternAnimation/AdventuresOfSonicTheHedgehog other]] [[ComicBook/SonicTheComic portrayals]], where they're usually brushed off or accepted. Furthermore, he's able to work past and make up for them with surprising sensitivity.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Along wth ''[=SatAm=]'', this was one of the first iterations of the franchise to emphasize Sonic's love of chili dogs.

!!Pre-Reboot Tropes
* AllLovingHero: Some SympathyForTheDevil moments during the Iron Dominion arc (some of which towards ''Eggman'' of all people) seem to approach him as this trope....only for it to all backfire on him straight after in the Mecha Sally arc, with a merciless string of hardships from both [[ATasteOfDefeat foes]] ''and'' [[EtTuBrute allies]] [[TookALevelInCynic leaving him much more cynical and unforgiving]]. It is only just before the effects of the cosmic wave retcon that he shows signs of regaining his more trusting qualities.
* BalloonBelly: In the chapter ''The Return of Uncle Chuck''.
* BattleCouple: Whenever he fights alongside Sally.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: When pushed to his limits, will ''break'' limits. And walls. With your face, as Silver will attest to.
* BloodKnight: He's not murderous and is nowhere ''near'' the psychopathic extreme that defines this trope, but certain stories have shown that Sonic enjoys fighting Robotnik and the rest of his various RoguesGallery a bit too much.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Twice. The first time involved amnesia, and the second was when he was Roboticized into Mecha Sonic. Note that the latter involved him FightingFromTheInside.
* BreakTheBadass: There are rare times this happens to him, specifically in the pre-SGW era, but they just as rarely last long.
** He thought to have lost everyone and everything to Robotnik's Ultimate Annihilator during the Endgame Saga.
** Losing his original timeline, and everything in it, to King Shadow in the future.
** Lost his old friend Tommy Turtle during their final battle against ADAM.
** Lost a battle against Eggman after the latter destroyed Knothole and captured most of his friends and family.
** The worst of it occurs when Sally is roboticized after she prevented the world from suffering the same fate, Ixis Naugus takes over as the new king of New Mobotropolis, Antoine is critically injured, and Bunnie runs away, not to mention putting up with Silver's search for an alledged traitor in the team. He was certainly down as a result but, rather than give up, he and his remaining friends come up with a way to reform the Freedom Fighters.
* CasualDangerDialogue: He'll banter or even ''flirt'' in the middle of a fight. One example was his cracking jokes while [[PeoplePuppets being controlled by Eggman]] in the first Free Comic Book Day issue.
* ChickMagnet: Sally, Fiona, Amy, Mina; it seems that most girls are in love with him at one point or another. And unlike his games counterpart, he ''definitely'' doesn't try to [[ChasteHero avoid it.]]
* CoolPeopleRebelAgainstAuthority: As long as it's for what's right, he's willing to defy orders from Max, Elias, and even Sally to save the day. He comes to blows with Geoffery St. John most often due to their differences in this end goal. He's also ''way past cool''.
* [[DemotedToExtra Demoted To Supporting Character]]: For a while[[note]]usually during Ken Penders' run[[/note]], it seemed like other characters like Knuckles were more important to the world of the comic than he was.
* DudeWheresMyRespect: He occasionally runs into this, where despite his numerous acts of heroism, King Max and Geoffrey St. John treat him with no respect and have no interest sending him out on missions, despite that he has list of heroic acts that would take too long to list.
* EasilyCondemned: Sonic has been framed more than once for turning on the Freedom Fighters, with usually all but a token handful (usually Tails or Uncle Chuck) being perfectly convinced he has betrayed them. While some of these schemes are very elaborate, you'd think the others would be aware of what deception Robotnik is capable of by now (especially since it's happened to them before too).
* EmbarrassingMiddleName: [[http://archive.is/8S0dX His middle name]] [[http://web.archive.org/web/20200311022329/https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3bz43tg_pqM/Vtpz6QJhJLI/AAAAAAAAKZI/NKznPN_KZv8/s1600-Ic42/RCO008.jpg is Maurice]], and he hates it. He also hates his first name, which was never spoken in the comic. The Sonic Encyclopedia revealed that his full name is full name is ''Olgilvie Maurice Hedgehog''.
* HeroicSacrifice: Subverted. Has frequent brushes with death but, unlike [[spoiler: Knuckles]], Sonic has never died ''once''.
* {{Hypocrite}}: While he retains his "like the wind" ethics of the games counterpart, Sonic tends to be one of the Freedom Fighters most wary to others stepping out of line or not listening to him, in some cases bordering a tantrum prone ControlFreak. Add to that he has an inconsistent attitude to pacifism and forgiveness; while he has considered sympathy even for his mortal enemy, Eggman at times, he held a rather lengthy violent grudge against both Silver for his rather tasteless (and badly timed) approach to heroics and Knuckles for...[[TheRival just plain out not liking each other.]]
* InnocentlyInsensitive: He has his moments. For example, he, after his breakup with Sally, ends up pursuing a relationship with Fiona despite full knowledge of Tails' crush on her, leading to quite a strain on their friendship, which progressively gets worse when Tails' parents lead a VelvetRevolution; Sonic tactlessly criticizes Amadeus for leading an angry mob to Castle Acorn and calls it a stupid move right in front of Tails, dismissing Nicole's concerns over it and suggestion that they talk things out as they were "practically brothers" and would be fine. Later, when he tries to keep Amadeus in prison and Rosemary calls him out over his loyalties to Tails, Sonic smugly gloats that he and Tails grew up together, and that since Tails [[HeroWorshipper worships him]], he'll get over it; this is what pushes Tails to his RageBreakingPoint and triggers a massive fight between the two. Throughout the entire exchange, Sonic has no clue why Tails is so pissed at him until Tails flat-out screams it at him in a fit of rage; now knowing what it's all about, Sonic apologizes, explaining that he knew that Tails liked Fiona and that she had no interest in him so Sonic went out with Fiona to keep Tails from being hurt, while acknowledging that it was a spur of the moment thing done because he was still hurting over Sally, and he didn't think before he took action.
* JerkassRealization: He dates Fiona despite full knowledge of Tails' crush on her, both because he was hurting over his recent breakup with Sally, and because he knew that Fiona had no interest in him and he wanted to stop Tails from being hurt. Instead, it just heavily strains his friendship with Tails, Sonic unaware of just how angry and hurt Tails is over the mess until the tensions explode and lead to a physical fight between the two shortly after the destruction of Knothole. All the while, Sonic is confused and has no clue why Tails has such a beef with him until Tails flat-out screams it at him in a rage and chews him out over dismissing his feelings for Fiona and lack of sensitivity. It's at that moment Sonic realizes just how insensitive and selfish his choosing to date Fiona really was, and leads him to apologize and even offer to let Tails beat him up as payback.

* {{Knighting}}: He was dubbed "Sir Sonic" by King Max at one point, only to be stripped of the title much later by his son, [the acting ruler] Elias Acorn [[note]]Sonic had stolen the Sword of Acorns in a desperate attempt to save Uncle Chuck, only to lose it to Eggman's robots. As he failed to consult the Acorn family or find out how it worked, this punishment was likely justified. Then again, Geoffery guided Elias' temporary rule and recommended this.[[/note]] When offered to be reinstated some time after several heroics, Sonic declined, more interested in action than titles.

Writers also have a fondness for letting horrible things happen to Sally in particular, in which cases Sonic's laid back demeanor very quickly cracks.

** [[spoiler: Issue 125 was easily the most dramatic as he stopped a doomsday device from destroying the planet. Everyone thought he was vaporized when he was really warped halfway across the universe. It took him a year (in Mobius time) to get back.]]
* NewPowersAsThePlotDemands: Sonic was prone to this in some of the earlier days of the comic, and it kept creeping in and out over the years. Sonic's best friend and sometimes-sidekick, Tails' earliest characterization suffered somewhat for being "the little kid who hero-worships Sonic and resents the other Freedom Fighters for babying him," and generally treated as more of an innocent in need of protection than an active asset to the team. Tails' first strike out at adventure on his own (where he met Fiona) was a rebellion in this spirit. Later issues worked to correct this by steadily upping his apparent maturity and skill with mechanics (which had the somewhat unintended consequence of rendering Rotor and Uncle Chuck redundant). Tails in the comics has also carried around the rather ambiguously defined title of "TheChosenOne," for a destiny he may or may not have fulfilled by this point. Least pre-Genesis Wave, Post-Wave seems have done away with this (as well as his parents who were Penders creations) though he's still one of the main tech-heads of the Freedom Fighters.

Generally sweet and unassuming, Tails retains a good relationship with the other Freedom Fighters, who are still somewhat inclined to be protective of him -- which he is more embarrassed than angered by, these days.

Tails, however, convinces them to hear what Silver has to say. Daughter of the deposed king Maximillian Acorn, Princess Sally led the Freedom Fighters through their time of exile after the coup and saw her father, and subsequently her brother, re-ascend the throne after Robotnik's demise. For quite some time she was Heir Presumptive, and retired from field duties, but she has since reassumed her post after Elias was crowned instead. Sally was roboticized and transformed into "Mecha Sally", who was then weaponized and turned against her friends by Eggman.

Following the [[ComicBook/SonicTheHedgehogMegaManWorldsCollide reboot]], she was never altered and is still an active member of the Freedom Fighters, though what she does remember of her tenure as Mecha Sally haunts her greatly. Most of her origin story is still intact save for her mother and brother, the former who died and the latter who no longer exists.

Sally is courageous, but also intelligent, pragmatic, and patient; often serving as a {{foil}} to the more assertive and bull-headed Sonic, and has an on-again-off-again relationship with him. While she's generally level-headed, she can be just as impetuous and stubborn as Sonic at times.

* CompressedVice: Writers have frequently tried to make Sally more flawed in reply to complaints of her PositiveDiscrimination. A lot of her shortcomings however tend not to stick or conflict with her more constant personality. Her occasional bouts of recklessness (something she usually foils Sonic over) is a glaring example.
* ControlFreak: Had shades of this in the earlier more comical issues, usually butting heads with the reckless and free spirited Sonic as a result. This was diluted as the stories matured, the rare occasion she delves back in this trope are more PlayedForDrama. Somewhat justified due to the comic's increasing CerebusSyndrome, with the increased sense of threat and vulnerability within the Freedom Fighters making it harder to portray Sally as a comically persnickety character and anything less than perfectly justified in not wanting to take unnecessary risks.
* CreateYourOwnVillain: Sally creates the Council of Acorn to compromise between the monarchy and the Prower's push for democracy. This ends up working against her when some of the members she inducts prove to be {{Obstructive Bureaucrat}}s too cautious and no-risks in their decision-making for even ''her'' liking, along with members such as Hamlin proving to hold grudges when she and the Freedom Fighters overrule or ignore them, technically holding the power to prosecute them for treason.
* ExposedAnimalBellybutton: Zig-zagged example. In her more "anatomically-correct" appearances (typically by Steven Butler), Sally is often drawn with a more detailed belly; complete with her navel visible through her fur. In most of her other appearances though (as above), it doesn't usually appear.
* GrumpyBear: In earlier points of the comics at least. While still often enthusiastic, Sally was often the most sardonic and irritable of the main Freedom Fighters. Snarking aside, this is far less prominent in later issues.
* HeroicSacrifice: Causing herself to get roboticized to prevent Eggman from doing it to the entire planet.
* TheHighQueen: Grows up to be this in the "Mobius: 30 Years Later" storyline.

Built by a future incarnation of Rotor, [=NICOLE=] is an an ArtificialIntelligence sent to Sally in the past from her future self in a StableTimeLoop, but her origins are obscured from the others in the present (as well as to the viewers of the modern-day, considering how convoluted the time travel plots have gotten since her introduction). Loyal, intelligent (obviously), occasionally playful or sarcastic [=NICOLE=] has always evidenced aspects of personality, but her prominence in the series skyrocketed once she outgrew her handheld and learned to project herself into a solid form as a Lynx. [=NICOLE=] and her {{nanite}}s are responsible for the construction of New Mobotropolis, but the populace's initial gratitude has turned to fear once it became apparent that her technological basis left her vulnerable to {{Magitek}} -- and that under the influence she would turn the city against its citizens. After being exiled for her so-called "crimes", [=NICOLE=] was recruited by Harvey Who to aid the Secret Freedom Fighters.

Following the reboot, the nanite city of New Mobotropolis has been replaced by the restored city of Mobotropolis. To compensate for the loss of the nanites, Nicole can project her holographic form by simply by attaching a power ring to her handheld unit. She now works in the field with the Freedom Fighters. In this continuity, Nicole was created by Dr. Ellidy, a scientist in the service of the Kingdom of Acorn, and given as a gift to a young Princess Sally.

After several more attacks on the city courtesy of Eggman, along with said HatePlague waning, Mina is able to get enough support from the people for the Council to allow her to return.
* HeroicBSOD: She could barely talk to anyone after Sally was roboticized and herself exiled. It wasn't until Mina talked to her and apologized for her actions that she was able to open up again.
* HeroWithBadPublicity: Got hit with this before the reboot thanks to The Iron Queen taking control of her and turning her against the citizens she wanted to protect. It's only made worse when Mina, having been traumatized by the occupation, tried to use her songs to spread messages warning about it to ensure that Nicole couldn't be BrainwashedAndCrazy again, only for Ixis Naugus to use his HatePlague to amplify the fear and hatred of Nicole brought about by both the songs and the Iron Queen's actions to turn the entire city against Nicole and get her banished from New Mobotropolis altogether. A SouthernBelle who was subject to [[UnwillingRoboticization Roboticization]] and rescued half-way, Bunnie retained her free will but put her powerful robotic limbs at the service of the Freedom Fighters. Bunnie has an outgoing but gentle personality who is nonetheless willing to throw her considerable weight around when the occasion calls for it. Though liked by pretty much everyone, she seems especially close to Sally, and to Antoine, her husband.

Bunnie found herself restored to flesh and blood, and her husband put into a coma during an attack by Eggman's forces. Unable to deal with her feelings of helplessness, she set off on her own for an unrevealed purpose.[[note]]She appeared in silhouette twice in the Chaotix Quest story arc, suggesting she went to her uncle Beauregard for new cybernetics. WordOfGod confirms that this was the case.[[/note]] Following the [[ComicBook/SonicTheHedgehogMegaManWorldsCollide reboot,]] it was established that Bunnie was still roboticized, but instead of UnwillingRoboticization, it was to save her life at a young age after Eggman initiated his coup and she was caught in the blast of one of his attacks. Uncle Chuck managed to save her with a prototype roboticizer, though she had to get used to her new prosthetics. Along the way she met Antonie, who she became close with and eventually married.

He ironically dressed like a palace guard (like his father) but, like the other core cast members, he was too young when Robotnik took over to actually serve. In the early days, he was [[HopelessSuitor a would-be rival for Sally's affections]], but even this was beyond his grasp, as the dashing Geoffrey St. John fit the bill much better. (The only thing Antoine and Sonic agreed on was that they both couldn't stand him.) He mostly stuck to his bumbling role from the TV show, which was even more exaggerated in some stories--complete with a DodgyToupee (which kept flying off in times of stress). This peaked with Antoine prosecuting Sonic for his time as Mecha-Sonic under Robotnik's control; despite being annoyed at Antoine's grandstanding, the judges had no choice but to convict.\\\
He later shed most of his unsavory traits and developed into a semi-capable agent. He also stopped pursuing Sally and instead struck up a romance with Bunnie (undoubtedly a reference to Rogue and Gambit from ''X-Men'').\\\
Antoine was critically-wounded and put in a coma during an attempt on Elias' life. The ensuing war left his education incomplete and as such his manner of speaking is him struggling with English.

He mellowed out considerably into a more noble and less uptight character and his relationship with Sonic improved tremendously to the point he even has Sonic as his best man at the wedding.
* TrappedInAnotherWorld: He spent over a year stranded on [[MirrorUniverse Anti-Mobius]] when Anti-Sonic decided to swap him with [[EvilTwin Anti-Antoine]] after getting sick of Anti-Antoine's constant attempts at being TheStarscream. He's finally brought home in issue 156, when Sonic discovers the switch and rescues him.
* WellDoneSonGuy: A recurring motive for him is wanting to impress his father, General Armand D'Coolette. In issue 112, this led to him convincing Sonic to dress up as [[EvilTwin Anti-Sonic]] and stage a fight; instead, the ''real'' Anti-Sonic shows up, and Antoine defeats him with a single karate chop. Though more then likely she became older naturally rather then the power ring she wished on.

A few years pass in-series so by the end of the comic Amy is chronologically twelve like her game counterpart, but is physically an adult.

He joined the Mobian Council until quitting the group in disgust, deciding to take action himself as the leader of the newly formed Team Freedom. Following the [[ComicBook/SonicTheHedgehogMegaManWorldsCollide reboot,]] Rotor was never injured and is still an active member of the Freedom Fighters.

In the new universe, he's was part of a tribe of warrior walruses where he was a techology prodigy, but his father, a very old fashioned being, hated technology and, according to his words, him as well.
