Archie's best pal, debuting in December 1941 alongside Archie and Betty, Jughead was a noted woman-hater at first, famous for being the Big Eater of Big Eaters. An overall weirdo, he tended to follow his own path, avoiding the girl-crazy antics of his male co-stars. Initially a misogynist, he recieved CharacterDevelopment and eventually became more disinterested in romance as much as anything, and actually made friends with girls like Betty. Some stories in the early 90s played with romance for Jug, but were ultimately short-lived. He became an older brother in the 1990s, gaining a sister in Jellybean (aka "Forsythia").

* {{Asexuality}}: Explicitly stated as of 2016. The author of the reboot says that of he has been written as straight in the past and someone else in the future may try to write him that way again, though.

* HerosClassicCar: For many years Archie was depicted driving a 1916 Ford Model T (or Model A), sometimes as a Hot Rod and sometimes just an old car, prone to breaking down more than driving. In 1983 this was permanently replaced by a 1960s era Ford Mustang, again prone to breaking down. In one comic story Mr. Lodge temporarily trades cars with Archie, giving him a late model sports car in an even trade for Archie's jalopy - Mr. Lodge is attending a classic car show and feels he's sure to win with Archie's car.

* TooDumbToFool: In one comic, there was a charismatic ConMan who could convince people to buy anything he wanted them to by putting ideas in their heads. He tries this on Moose, but it doesn't work as he doesn't process ideas very well. He does know when he's being insulted, however, and promptly decks the guy for calling him a stupid lard bucket, depriving him of his charming voice.

The pretty, popular, all-around {{Nice G|uy}}irl, introduced in December 1941, during the very first story. Initially portrayed as a good cook who was a bit flighty, Betty was modified post-Women's Lib into a feminist who was masculine as well as (opposed to instead of, making her unusually three-dimensional for a comic book character) feminine, becoming a Jack of All Trades. Portrayed as the "Nice One" in the eternal LoveTriangle.

She's also the youngest of three children, but her older brother and sister have since moved out of the house in the regular series. We do see her parents fairly often though.

* GettingCrapPastTheRadar: Some of her sexier antics seem extremely bizarre for a children's comic book series, and even rival the {{Fanservice}} in ImageComics.

* PutOnABus: She was actually written out in the late 90s as actually moving away for a while. This lasted a few years, and she returned (without her own series this time) as a minor character.
