One of the [=SticksFight=] fighters, Yellow is an expert at engineering and coding, being considered TheSmartGuy of the group. He is additionally the BestFriend of Blue. At the end of Season 3 of the ''[=AvM Shorts=]'', he is given the Command Block Staff by King Orange, thus making him very dangerous if the situation calls for it, though he prefers using the staff for harmless things like making a racetrack for his friends.

Not to be confused with [[Characters/AnimatorVsAnimationAdversaries the other stick figure named Orange]].

** They are killed by [[spoiler:the Dark Lord]] during ''[[spoiler:The Showdown]]'', but they come back when [[spoiler:the Second Coming revives them using the Dark Lord's console]].
** Once again, they meet their end during ''[[spoiler:The King]]'' by [[spoiler:falling into King Orange's black hole while trying to throw the staff into the Nether portal. They resurrect less then a minute afterwards, due to the Second Coming managing to undo the black hole's effects]].
** In a more comical example, they all accidentally kill themselves during ''TNT Jump'', only to respawn at their bed. Additionally, Green is killed twice during ''[=PvP=]'' while Red ''[[BlackComedySuicide purposefully kills himself]]'' in ''Nether Nap'' to regenerate his energy, knowing he'll respawn nearby.

** When Green is introduced to the ''Minecraft'' Icon, he used it to build a fully ''functioning'' windmill showcasing the first ever moment of him being an architect and TheAce. His music abilities would not come until ''Note Blocks''.
** When Blue gets his hands on the icon, he uses it to build a farm while cultivating multiple plants from crops to trees, establishing Blue's trait as a gardener. His potion making skills would come later in the episode ''Potions''.
** When Yellow grabs the icon, he creates a beacon pyramid later and a piston contraption that changes the beacon's lights, cementing Yellows skills as TheEngineer, while coding would be new for him in the episode ''Command Blocks''.

* InexplicablyIdenticalIndividuals: For unknown reasons, they look exactly like Purple and King Orange, despite the two not coming from the fighting animation. This would be later explained in ''The King'' and ''Animator vs. Animation VI'', which shows that the majority of the Internet's stick figures happen to have that specific design, and it's rare for a stick figure to look different.
* InstantExpert: There are few things they ''don't'' immediately master.
* ItsPersonalWithTheDragon: [[spoiler:None of them know anything about King Orange and thus have no personal beef with him besides "the guy who we need to stop". By comparison, they - especially Green - have a more personal relationship with Purple due to him [[ChronicBackstabbingDisorder constantly betraying them]]. Tellingly, they actually have an easier time forgiving ''King Orange'' than Purple in ''The King'', accepting the former's apology but needing Red's pig to confirm the latter is a friend]].

* SoreLoser: As shown in the Build Battle episodes, ''Parkour'' and ''Ultimate Minecart Race'', they are ''very'' competitive and don't take losing easy. That's probably why Purple's relatively petty revenge plan - beating them in a ''League of Legends'' route - is enough for them [[SeriousBusiness to treat it like a major thing]].

** Throughout the first season, the use of redstone was mainly Yellow's domain. ''Redstone Academy'' has him teach the other sticks about the nuances of redstone, and once they know all the mechanics, they're skilled enough with it to build contraptions that reflect their preferences.
** ''Note Blocks'' has each stick figure manning one instrument for a band, and Second Coming resorting to turning the PC's volume down. ''Note Block Battle'' has Green one-manning an entire composition with the use of tripwires to reach the blocks that don't fit in his immediate vicinity, and Second Coming crashing the resulting battle with an electric guitar solo.
** ''The Nether'' has Green and Blue helpless against a small group of zombie pigmen, having to mount a Ghast in order to turn the tide. ''The Piglin War'' has Blue able to simultaneously slaughter a zombified Piglin horde ''and'' keep a living Piglin hunting squad at bay non-lethally, all on his own.

The Second Coming possesses [[AmbiguousSituation unknown connections]] to the Chosen One: Task Manager states he is "the Chosen One's Return", though ''Animator vs. Animation V'' contradicts it by revealing the Chosen One is alive and well. For what it's worth, he's rarely even referred to by his name: WordOfGod tends to call him "Orange", an AscendedFanNickname that eventually crossed to the series itself[[note]]At the end of "Ultimate Minecart Race", you can briefly see the command block's text call him "Orange" when Yellow uses it on him, making it AscendedFanNickname.[[/note]].\\

* EleventhHourSuperpower: [[spoiler:In ''The Showdown''. After seeing his friends killed and receiving a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown from the Dark Lord, he awakens his latent superpowers which are similar to the Chosen One's, although his are [[ColorCodedForYourConvenience green]] and actually strong enough to finish off the Dark Lord once and for all.]]

* TheBeastmaster: Shows shades of this in ''Wanted'', as he draws several animals to aid him in battle.

* CharacterDevelopment: After the Stick Gang's incident with the different worlds explored through the Nether Portals in Season 1, the Second Coming wanted nothing more than to avoid leaving Alan's PC at any cost and was heavily disappointed when Blue's quest for nether wart forced him and the others to leave home once again to find him. In ''Lush Caves'', however, he realizes that if he never left Alan's PC, he would've never discovered the amazing worlds that existed outside and became more willing to explore.

* DefenceMechanismSuperpower: It's implied that [[spoiler:the powers the Second Coming unleashed near the end of ''The Showdown'' will only activate under dire circumstances, as they vanish once the danger has passed and the Second Coming can't summon them at will.]]

* EmpoweredBadassNormal: [[spoiler:He is revealed to have powers in ''The Showdown''. Though the fact that it took a NearVillainVictory and the loss of his friends to trigger them, plus ending with a PostVictoryCollapse, indicate that they're not as easily used as they are for the Chosen One himself.]]
* ForgotFlandersCouldDoThat: In their debut, the Second Coming displays the ability to spontaneously create text when the Animator boxes them in. This trait was generally left to be forgotten as the series favored a dialogue-less SilenceIsGolden approach, but ''Music Lesson'' remembers Second Coming's text creation ability when he attempt to sing with Green.

* MeaningfulName: Called "The Second Coming" and "The Chosen One's Return" by the task manager in his debut episode. His handiness with tools and random objects also evokes that of victim's, so he could also be considered a "second coming" of him. [[spoiler: Pulls out some similar powers to the Chosen One to win the fight against the Dark Lord in ''The Showdown''.]]

* NonStandardCharacterDesign: Downplayed as other characters share his design, but as he is the only member of the Stick Gang to have a unique design, the Second Coming stands out among his friends. Compared to the other sticks, he has a bigger and more roughly drawn head, no feet, slightly smaller proportions, and his head is hollow. [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] in ''Basketball'', where Blue turns his head into a basketball hoop (revealed to be AllJustADream), and ''Color Correction'', where Yellow fills Second Coming's head with color, weighing his head down.

He's very good at building and music, ocassionally has ButtMonkey tendencies, and has a troubled relationship with Purple that is finally settled in ''Note Block Universe''.

* ButtMonkey: Despite being TheAce, he's this in the ''An Actual Short'' series. He keeps getting beat up by Bob in his two episodes, is pecked by a paper crane in ''Enchanted Origami'', crashes into a tree in ''Carrot on a Stick'', gets slammed by Blue's cauldron in ''Bottle Flip'', gets ''[[ItMakesSenseInContext literally]]'' verbally assaulted by Second Coming in ''Music Lesson'', shot by Yellow in ''Gunslinger'', is roasted alive in ''Pork'', gets eaten by the chest ''It's Alive!'', [[OverlyLongGag so on and so forth]].

* HiddenDepths: A master of music surprisingly. He takes to noteblocks like a fish to water. [[spoiler:After arriving in ''Note Block Universe'', he eventually learns to "speak" in Note Block sounds.]]

* LancerVsDragon: [[spoiler:Green's character arc in Season 3 revolves around Purple, TheDragon of [[ArcVillain King Orange]], and trying to find out what his motivations are. As a result, [[ArchEnemy they have the most personal relationship]] and get into a brief fight in ''Parkour'']].

* SuddenlyVoiced: Green learns to "speak" in Note Block sounds after being pressured by some Villagers in ''Note Block Universe''. Downplayed in that it's not really speech but still a form of audible communication.

** ''Potions'' has him discover and subsequently experiment with Minecraft's brewing mechanics.

** Becomes a true master by ''The Witchv, making incredibly complex transformation potions just as well as the titular witch.
* BadassPacifist: While Blue ''is'' willing to get his hands dirty, but it's shown several times he's willing to go the less-brutal way if he has the option to. He tries to play peacemaker between TSC and Green in ''[=PvP=]'', he's trying to befriend the Piglins instead of attacking him, and the In Real Time release of ''[=AvM=]'' Season 3 has him trying to discuss things with his Piglin Brute before resulting to a very brief fight where he's more focused on running away then defeating the Piglin.

* CaringGardener: His first impulse with the ''Minecraft'' Game Icon is to grow a garden, and he's introduced lovingly tending his garden in ''Potions''. When Red's pig goes after his plants, he's visibly upset.

* CharacterDevelopment: If ''The Chef'' is any indication, while he still enjoys nether wart, he's not as crazy about it as he was before. The only time his previous obsession comes up in that episode is when he tops his pizza with nether wart, and even then he easily resists eating it himself as it's needed for a trade.

* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Blue is basically a nether wart addict ever since he first tasted them in ''Potions'', being shown eating them very often.

** In ''Carrot on a Stick'', Yellow uses Blue's obsession with nether wart to win the race, riding his back and luring him with nether wart on a stick. Later on in ''Color Confusion'', it's shown Blue's obsession goes so far he's drawing nether wart.
** In ''The Chef'', when everyone is making pizza, Blue tops his with nether wart.

* ObsessedWithFood: His second character trait after CaringGardener: he's typically associated with food. He prepares a cake in ''The Nether'', the videos for [=#TeamTrees and #TeamSeas=] are about him running food stands, and in ''The Piglin War'' his first reaction to seeing the new Nether is trying to eat the unfamilliar flora. By the time ''The Chef'' happened, he's essentially become the TeamChef. And this is ignoring the nether wart.
* SuperSpeed: When he drinks Swiftness Potions; He caused a sonic boom in ''Ultimate Minecart Race'' after drinking around eight, and went into a one second-long QuickTimeEvent in ''Lucky Block Staff'' with a Swiftness Potion X.
* SuperStrength: He's under the effects of Strength II in ''Arm Wrestling''... until it runs out.
* TeamChef: Effectively became this for the stick figures, having the most knowledge in raising crops and cooking them, and was the one that wrote the cookbook in ''The Chef''.

* TrademarkFavoriteFood: [[AlienKudzu Nether wart]], of all things. He discovers its taste in ''Potions'' and it's become an important part of his character ever since.

* AesopAmnesia: Demonstrates this in the Actual Short ''It's Alive!'', where he apparently forgets the events of ''Command Blocks'' and decides it'd be a great idea to give life to such a block. The only reason that this doesn't end in disaster is because his friends remember those events all too well and are quick to stop him. In general, Yellow's entire obssession with King Orange's command block in Season 3 can be called a big case of this, as he's determined to get it while apparently not remembering what happened the last time he used one.

* DumbAndDrummer: Inverted. He serves as the drummer in both the episodes ''Note Blocks'' and ''Note Block Battle'' as well as being one of the most intelligent stick figures capable of coding and making redstone contraptions.

* GadgeteerGenius: His persona--he's an absolute genius with redstone. He graduates from building a rapid-fire arrow dispenser in ''vs. Minecraft'' to a huge underground roller coaster network, he's the one who sets up the drumbeats with redstone torches in "Note Blocks", and figures out the command blocks in no time at all in ''Command Blocks''.
* HollywoodHacking: In ''The Showdown'', he manages to hack and access the Dark Lord's computer in his console in order to summon the Animator to aid the Chosen One against the Dark Lord. Don't ask us how he knew the password to the console, he just did.
* MagicStaff: [[spoiler:In ''The Raid'', the Villagers make Yellow a staff not unlike King Orange's in order for him to efficiently wield the Command Block that he swiped. It's not quite enough to stop King Orange, who at that point had ''two'' Game Icons. It gets destroyed in "The King", but at the end of the episode the titular King entrusts his own staff and the Command Block to Yellow. From that point on, it becomes Yellow's [[WeaponSpecialization signature weapon]], specifically with the Command Block installed]].

* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: Is characterized like this in the ''Faces'' Actual Short, due to his extensive smarts in redstone.

** In ''The Roller Coaster'', he builds a vast, intricate, layered, amazing roller coaster underground... but fails to account for ''Minecraft'' physics, causing his friends to fall off a cliff. Oops.
** In ''Command Blocks'', he spawns lightning to make a dramatic display for Red, smiting zombies from on high. [[spoiler:The lightning hits the command blocks, causing a massive InterfaceScrew that engulfs the computer itself--only the Second Coming's quick thinking saves the day.]]
** In ''Lucky Blocks'', he decides to take apart a Lucky Block to see how it works, and eventually returns with a mysterious orb that spawns all the mobs and items spawned by a Lucky Block. The Orb ends up possessing him and eventually the rest of his friends. They end up getting saved by, of all things, a flying, armed, and armored pig. He at least learns his lesson, unlike Red, as proven in ''Lucky Block Staff''.

* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: In ''Monster School''. After Herobrine's teleportation makes him accidentally bump into Endie, Skellington and Spider, they begin to hate him. When the lattermost trips him for fun, ''every other student in the school'' begins bullying him for amusement. [[spoiler:This seemingly ends after the Team Race, where he befriends the three mobs and proves his strength to the rest of the students]].

* ArchEnemy: {{Subverted|Trope}}. Despite Herobrine possessing him and trying to murder his friends in ''Animation vs. Minecraft'', when they meet again several years later, [[spoiler:Red doesn't seem to even care (despite seemingly recognizing and being unnerved by Herobrine), while Herobrine himself [[UnknownRival completely forgot]]. Several episodes later, the two team up to fight [[FinalBoss King Orange]], Red ''lets'' Herobrine possess him for a second time, and they part ways with no hard feelings, the ''Rainstorm'' short proving he even attends the Monster School from time to time]].
* ButtMonkey: Tends to be the butt of the joke in the main episodes, while Green is one for the ''An Actual Short'' miniseries. This is {{Exaggerated|Trope}} in ''Monster School'' to the point of not being funny. All of the monsters grief Red's attempts to perform all of the assignments, from Spider tripping Red trying to ambush a Steve clone, to basically being used as a stepping stool for the race by his "teammates". He even considered leaving his team for dead because they were bullying him into the ground.
* BerserkButton: Do not, we repeat, ''do not'' mess with his animals. Unless you ''want'' to experience his fighting skills firsthand.
* DemonicPossession: Gets one courtesy of [[UrbanLegendOfZelda Herobrine]]. The team has to delete the Minecraft Game Icon itself to stop him. [[spoiler:Gets possessed by Herobrine ''again'' in the climax of ''The King'', but at this point Herobrine is [[EnemyMine a lot less demonic]].]]
* FriendToAllLivingThings: He's the animal lover of the bunch, summoning a cat during ''The Building Contest'', bonding with a pig during ''Potions'' (and being heartbroken when it dies, despite it trying to kill him), building a statue of his pet chicken with Blue in ''Note Blocks'', and even befriending ''[[DidWeJustHaveTeaWithCthulhu three hostile mobs]]'' in ''Monster School''.
* TheGadfly: ''The Rediscovery'', the first mini-episode, focuses on the team finding the ''Minecraft'' Game Icon again after it was tossed in the trash during ''vs. Minecraft''. Everyone's excited, passing out blocks and items, when Yellow pauses just before giving it to Red. The scene cuts to the team in full diamond armour, gear and weapons ready for a massive battle, and the Second Coming tentatively giving the block to Red before dashing to safety, not wanting Herobrine to strike again. [[OhCrap Red starts twitching erratically]], [[HereWeGoAgain the ominous music builds]]... and he summons a few rabbits. (He gets a well-earned [[DopeSlap Dope Slap]] from Blue with a diamond helmet for that, which promptly knocks him out since, you know, it's ''diamond'').
* InstantKnots: In ''Monster School'', he uses his [[ImprovisedWeapon yellow headband]] to snatch away the enemies' weapons.
* KiddieKid: While the entire Stick Gang is around the ages of 10-13, Red ticks all the boxes of the typical characterization of the youngest member of a group of heroes: He's impulsive, short-sighted, hot-blooded, more emotional, too curious for his own good (as seen in ''Lucky Block Staff'' where the Stick Gang didn't want to test out the titular block on Yellow's staff, remembering what happened the last time they misused the block, but Red took the staff to test it out himself, which lead to disastrous results), and inexperienced in various fields compared to the rest of his friends. In ''Power Outage'', he can be seen jumping on the couch like a five-year-old. Also whenever he's in danger, the rest of the Stick Gang [[TheHeart notably work extra hard to get him out of trouble]] compared to when any of the other members are in danger.
* TheLeader: Of the [[{{Irony}} Yellow]] Team from ''Monster School''.

* MartialArtsHeadband: Gains a yellow one in ''Monster School'', as provided by Herobrine to denote who his teammates are in the final exam. He then ditches it while taking the opportunity to escape, but after seeing his appointed teammates take a beating, he puts it back on and goes to help them. After that, Red wears it to symbolize his bond with his new friends. He even utilizes it in combat at a couple points, such as whipping and grabbing King's staff with it. [[spoiler:At the end of ''The King'', he bequeaths it to the Warden.]]

** In ''Ultimate Minecart Race'', he uses a horse to get ahead of Blue, utilises chickens on leashes to slow the others during the freefall segment, and even rides on a bee during the final lap.
* NiceGuy: He loves animals and he's a good friend--notably, he's the first person to wave to the Second Coming when the team's revived in ''IV''. He also waves back at the armor stand waiving at him in ''Command Blocks'', [[UnusuallyUninterestingSight interacting with it like it was just another stick figure]].

* TheFaceless: In-universe, we only ever see his hands--drawing, typing, picking up keys and laundry or just the back of his head, but not his face. Before the events of IV, he was only represented by his cursor never showing his real life appearance. We do get a glimpse of his face in the ''Actual Short'' ''New Wallpaper'', [[DownplayedTrope but it's out of focus]]. Averted in the short ''Feel Better'' where it's the first ever episode we see the Animator's face in-universe. (Out of universe, Alan talked directly to the camera in several outros, though even that eventually stopped.)

* SummonBiggerFish: [[spoiler:He ''is'' the bigger fish during ''The Showdown'', with Yellow writing a program from the Dark Lord's console to let him contribute to the fight - represented from the stick figures' perspective as a giant cursor manifesting upon the battlefield. The Dark Lord proceeds to summon his own bigger fish, the [=ViraBot=] Army, which defeats Alan.]]

* DeusExMachina: There was no foreshadowing he would return and save everyone from [=ViraBot=], especially since he destroyed the old computer he resided in. This was eventually subverted when ''The Flashback'' showed not only how he survived the computer's destruction, but why he was chasing [=ViraBot=].

* ButtMonkey: Despite being TheAce, he's this in the ''An Actual Short'' series. He keeps getting beat up by Bob in his two episodes, is pecked by a paper crane in "Enchanted Origami", crashes into a tree in "Carrot on a Stick", gets slammed by Blue's cauldron in "Bottle Flip", gets ''[[ItMakesSenseInContext literally]]'' verbally assaulted by Second Coming in "Music Lesson", shot by Yellow in "Gunslinger", is roasted alive in "Pork", gets eaten by the chest "It's Alive!", [[OverlyLongGag so on and so forth]].

* HiddenDepths: A master of music surprisingly. He takes to noteblocks like a fish to water. [[spoiler:After arriving in "Note Block Universe", he eventually learns to "speak" in Note Block sounds.]]

* LancerVsDragon: [[spoiler:Green's character arc in Season 3 revolves around Purple, TheDragon of [[ArcVillain King Orange]], and trying to find out what his motivations are. As a result, [[ArchEnemy they have the most personal relationship]] and get into a brief fight in "Parkour"]].

* SuddenlyVoiced: Green learns to "speak" in Note Block sounds after being pressured by some Villagers in "Note Block Universe". Downplayed in that it's not really speech but still a form of audible communication.

** "Potions" has him discover and subsequently experiment with Minecraft's brewing mechanics.
** In "[=PvP=]", he's shown brewing potions of invisibility to give himself and Red an edge in the fight.
** Becomes a true master by "The Witch", making incredibly complex transformation potions just as well as the titular witch.
* BadassPacifist: While Blue ''is'' willing to get his hands dirty, but it's shown several times he's willing to go the less-brutal way if he has the option to. He tries to play peacemaker between TSC and Green in "[=PvP=]", he's trying to befriend the Piglins instead of attacking him, and the In Real Time release of ''[=AvM=]'' Season 3 has him trying to discuss things with his Piglin Brute before resulting to a very brief fight where he's more focused on running away then defeating the Piglin.

* CaringGardener: His first impulse with the ''Minecraft'' Game Icon is to grow a garden, and he's introduced lovingly tending his garden in "Potions". When Red's pig goes after his plants, he's visibly upset.

* CharacterDevelopment: If "The Chef" is any indication, while he still enjoys nether wart, he's not as crazy about it as he was before. The only time his previous obsession comes up in that episode is when he tops his pizza with nether wart, and even then he easily resists eating it himself as it's needed for a trade.

* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Blue is basically a nether wart addict ever since he first tasted them in "Potions", being shown eating them very often.

** In "Carrot on a Stick", Yellow uses Blue's obsession with nether wart to win the race, riding his back and luring him with nether wart on a stick. Later on in "Color Confusion", it's shown Blue's obsession goes so far he's drawing nether wart.
** In "The Chef", when everyone is making pizza, Blue tops his with nether wart.

* ObsessedWithFood: His second character trait after CaringGardener: he's typically associated with food. He prepares a cake in "The Nether", the videos for [=#TeamTrees and #TeamSeas=] are about him running food stands, and in "The Piglin War" his first reaction to seeing the new Nether is trying to eat the unfamilliar flora. By the time "The Chef" happened, he's essentially become the TeamChef. And this is ignoring the nether wart.
* SuperSpeed: When he drinks Swiftness Potions; He caused a sonic boom in "Ultimate Minecart Race" after drinking around eight, and went into a one second-long QuickTimeEvent in "Lucky Block Staff" with a Swiftness Potion X.
* SuperStrength: He's under the effects of Strength II in "Arm Wrestling"... until it runs out.
* TeamChef: Effectively became this for the stick figures, having the most knowledge in raising crops and cooking them, and was the one that wrote the cookbook in "The Chef".

* TrademarkFavoriteFood: [[AlienKudzu Nether wart]], of all things. He discovers its taste in "Potions" and it's become an important part of his character ever since.

* AesopAmnesia: Demonstrates this in the Actual Short "It's Alive!", where he apparently forgets the events of "Command Blocks" and decides it'd be a great idea to give life to such a block. The only reason that this doesn't end in disaster is because his friends remember those events all too well and are quick to stop him. In general, Yellow's entire obssession with King Orange's command block in Season 3 can be called a big case of this, as he's determined to get it while apparently not remembering what happened the last time he used one.

* DumbAndDrummer: Inverted. He serves as the drummer in both the episodes "Note Blocks" and "Note Block Battle" as well as being one of the most intelligent stick figures capable of coding and making redstone contraptions.

* GadgeteerGenius: His persona--he's an absolute genius with redstone. He graduates from building a rapid-fire arrow dispenser in ''vs. Minecraft'' to a huge underground roller coaster network, he's the one who sets up the drumbeats with redstone torches in "Note Blocks", and figures out the command blocks in no time at all in "Command Blocks".
* HollywoodHacking: In "The Showdown", he manages to hack and access the Dark Lord's computer in his console in order to summon the Animator to aid the Chosen One against the Dark Lord. Don't ask us how he knew the password to the console, he just did.
* MagicStaff: [[spoiler:In "The Raid", the Villagers make Yellow a staff not unlike King Orange's in order for him to efficiently wield the Command Block that he swiped. It's not quite enough to stop King Orange, who at that point had ''two'' Game Icons. It gets destroyed in "The King", but at the end of the episode the titular King entrusts his own staff and the Command Block to Yellow. From that point on, it becomes Yellow's [[WeaponSpecialization signature weapon]], specifically with the Command Block installed]].

* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: Is characterized like this in the "Faces" Actual Short, due to his extensive smarts in redstone.

** In "The Roller Coaster", he builds a vast, intricate, layered, amazing roller coaster underground... but fails to account for ''Minecraft'' physics, causing his friends to fall off a cliff. Oops.
** In "Command Blocks", he spawns lightning to make a dramatic display for Red, smiting zombies from on high. [[spoiler:The lightning hits the command blocks, causing a massive InterfaceScrew that engulfs the computer itself--only the Second Coming's quick thinking saves the day.]]
** In "Lucky Blocks", he decides to take apart a Lucky Block to see how it works, and eventually returns with a mysterious orb that spawns all the mobs and items spawned by a Lucky Block. The Orb ends up possessing him and eventually the rest of his friends. They end up getting saved by, of all things, a flying, armed, and armored pig. He at least learns his lesson, unlike Red, as proven in "Lucky Block Staff".

* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: In "Monster School". After Herobrine's teleportation makes him accidentally bump into Endie, Skellington and Spider, they begin to hate him. When the lattermost trips him for fun, ''every other student in the school'' begins bullying him for amusement. [[spoiler:This seemingly ends after the Team Race, where he befriends the three mobs and proves his strength to the rest of the students]].

* ArchEnemy: {{Subverted|Trope}}. Despite Herobrine possessing him and trying to murder his friends in ''Animation vs. Minecraft'', when they meet again several years later, [[spoiler:Red doesn't seem to even care (despite seemingly recognizing and being unnerved by Herobrine), while Herobrine himself [[UnknownRival completely forgot]]. Several episodes later, the two team up to fight [[FinalBoss King Orange]], Red ''lets'' Herobrine possess him for a second time, and they part ways with no hard feelings, the "Rainstorm" short proving he even attends the Monster School from time to time]].
* ButtMonkey: Tends to be the butt of the joke in the main episodes, while Green is one for the ''An Actual Short'' miniseries. This is {{Exaggerated|Trope}} in "Monster School" to the point of not being funny. All of the monsters grief Red's attempts to perform all of the assignments, from Spider tripping Red trying to ambush a Steve clone, to basically being used as a stepping stool for the race by his "teammates". He even considered leaving his team for dead because they were bullying him into the ground.

* DemonicPossession: Gets one courtesy of [[UrbanLegendOfZelda Herobrine]]. The team has to delete the Minecraft Game Icon itself to stop him. [[spoiler:Gets possessed by Herobrine ''again'' in the climax of "The King", but at this point Herobrine is [[EnemyMine a lot less demonic]].]]
* FriendToAllLivingThings: He's the animal lover of the bunch, summoning a cat during "The Building Contest", bonding with a pig during "Potions" (and being heartbroken when it dies, despite it trying to kill him), building a statue of his pet chicken with Blue in "Note Blocks", and even befriending ''[[DidWeJustHaveTeaWithCthulhu three hostile mobs]]'' in "Monster School".
* TheGadfly: "The Rediscovery", the first mini-episode, focuses on the team finding the ''Minecraft'' Game Icon again after it was tossed in the trash during ''vs. Minecraft''. Everyone's excited, passing out blocks and items, when Yellow pauses just before giving it to Red. The scene cuts to the team in full diamond armour, gear and weapons ready for a massive battle, and the Second Coming tentatively giving the block to Red before dashing to safety, not wanting Herobrine to strike again. [[OhCrap Red starts twitching erratically]], [[HereWeGoAgain the ominous music builds]]... and he summons a few rabbits. (He gets a well-earned [[DopeSlap Dope Slap]] from Blue with a diamond helmet for that, which promptly knocks him out since, you know, it's ''diamond'').
* InstantKnots: In "Monster School", he uses his [[ImprovisedWeapon yellow headband]] to snatch away the enemies' weapons.
* KiddieKid: While the entire Stick Gang is around the ages of 10-13, Red ticks all the boxes of the typical characterization of the youngest member of a group of heroes: He's impulsive, short-sighted, hot-blooded, more emotional, too curious for his own good (as seen in "Lucky Block Staff" where the Stick Gang didn't want to test out the titular block on Yellow's staff, remembering what happened the last time they misused the block, but Red took the staff to test it out himself, which lead to disastrous results), and inexperienced in various fields compared to the rest of his friends. In "Power Outage", he can be seen jumping on the couch like a five-year-old. Also whenever he's in danger, the rest of the Stick Gang [[TheHeart notably work extra hard to get him out of trouble]] compared to when any of the other members are in danger.
* TheLeader: Of the [[{{Irony}} Yellow]] Team from "Monster School".

* MartialArtsHeadband: Gains a yellow one in "Monster School", as provided by Herobrine to denote who his teammates are in the final exam. He then ditches it while taking the opportunity to escape, but after seeing his appointed teammates take a beating, he puts it back on and goes to help them. After that, Red wears it to symbolize his bond with his new friends. He even utilizes it in combat at a couple points, such as whipping and grabbing King's staff with it. [[spoiler:At the end of "The King", he bequeaths it to the Warden.]]

** In "[=PvP=]", he summons both one large Iron Golem and an endless stream of snowball-tossing Snow Golems.

* NiceGuy: He loves animals and he's a good friend--notably, he's the first person to wave to the Second Coming when the team's revived in ''IV''. He also waves back at the armor stand waiving at him in "Command Blocks", [[UnusuallyUninterestingSight interacting with it like it was just another stick figure]].

* ArcVillain: Of the "original series" composing of the first four installments. After his HeelFaceTurn in ''Animator vs. Animation IV'', he becomes the BigGood.

* TheFaceless: In-universe, we only ever see his hands--drawing, typing, picking up keys and laundry or just the back of his head, but not his face. Before the events of IV, he was only represented by his cursor never showing his real life appearance. We do get a glimpse of his face in the ''Actual Short'' "New Wallpaper", [[DownplayedTrope but it's out of focus]]. Averted in the short "Feel Better" where it's the first ever episode we see the Animator's face in-universe. (Out of universe, Alan talked directly to the camera in several outros, though even that eventually stopped.)

* DeusExMachina: There was no foreshadowing he would return and save everyone from [=ViraBot=], especially since he destroyed the old computer he resided in. This was eventually subverted when "The Flashback" showed not only how he survived the computer's destruction, but why he was chasing [=ViraBot=].

* NonIndicativeName: For name like "The Chosen One", you'd think he would be the one chosen to be granted with powers to protect the world and help the common people, right? Well you'd be wrong, because pretty much everything he does the moment he came to life is the '''exact''' opposite of what would be expected, with him destroying everything and killing everyone in his path to the point he's teamed up with "The Dark Lord" and destroy their creator's computer and continue down their sinister path. That is, until, he starts to have second thought about his actions and makes a HeelFaceTurn.

* NotSoInvincibleAfterAll: Upon his creation, he immediately proves to be a force to be reckoned with, fighting through most of the Animator's defenses and desktop icons with relative ease. The Animator's programmer friend even says that creating the Chosen One is a "suicide" move. That being said, the programmer was about to reveal a way to defeat the Chosen One before [[HisNameIs being cut off by AIM's death]], and the Chosen One is eventually restrained by Avast! Antivirus. Thus it's established from the beginning that the Chosen One is extremely powerful, but not ''uniquely'' or ''insurmountably'' powerful.

* DeathIsCheap: If Red, Yellow, Green or Blue die, they simply respawn in their animation window, but the website might have to be refreshed. [[spoiler:The Dark Lord works around this with his code-erasing virus powers, which seemingly would have [[DeaderThanDead kept them down for good]] due to erasing all traces of them, though the Second Comingly manages to bring them back]].
** Though in ''Nether Nap'', Red respawns next to a nearby Crying Obsidian after sleeping in the Nether.

!!Supporting Characters

The creator of all hollow-headed stick figures, the titular animator, and the owner of the computers where the series takes place. Almost always represented as a cursor, as it's his only way of interacting with the cast. Originally starting out as nothing more than a heartless man seeking to torture his creations for fun, he later redeems himself and becomes friends with the Stick Gang.

The final of the [=SticksFight=] fighters, Red is somewhat childish and impulsive while also being TheBeastmaster and a FriendToAllLivingThings. He really likes pigs and has a weird connection to Herobrine.

* ArchEnemy: {{Subverted|Trope}}! Despite Herobrine possessing him and trying to murder his friends in ''Animation vs. Minecraft'', when they meet again several years later, [[spoiler:Red doesn't seem to even care (despite seemingly recognizing and being unnerved by Herobrine), while Herobrine himself [[UnknownRival completely forgot]]. * TheArtifact: Since Alan is no longer antagonistic to his stick figures (which was a key element of what started the series), he has a much a smaller role but still remains as a supporting character to the main cast, [[ArtifactTitle making the franchise's title irrelevant]] (though he ''does'' battle [[spoiler:the Dark Lord]] in ''[=AvA=] V'' and has a brief playfight with the Stick Gang in ''[=AvA=] VI'', proving it's not completel null).
* AuthorAvatar: The fictionalized version of series creator Alan Becker. The in-universe Animator outright has the same name as his real-life self, and Noogai ''is'' the real life Alan's username on Newgrounds.
* BigBad: Of the first four entries, which showcase his cruel treatment of stick figures.

* EvilGod: He's not a god in his own world, but in his own computer, he's essentially like one to the stick figures he's created and the programs, as he is able to end many of the sentient programs using task manager. He becomes the GodOfGood upon redeeming.

* GodOfGood: He becomes this when he resurrects the Second Coming's friends at the end of of ''Animator vs. Animation IV''.

* OutOfFocus: After ''Animator Vs Animation IV'', he has a much smaller role with the Stick Gang taking the spotlight.
* PapaWolf: The Animator's reaction to Green and Red accidentally destroying simple ''photos'' of his family? Changing his cursor into a fist and trying to kick their asses.

* TerribleArtist: When he started animating, the best he could animate were stick figures with his fourth stick figure, the Second Coming, being a better artist than him. This is eventually averted when the Second Coming teaches him how to draw and animate.
* UnexplainedRecovery: At the beginning of ''Animator vs. Animation V', [=ViraBot=] destroys his cursor and then shreds the Start menu to prevent him from summoning a new one. When the scene cuts back to him in the second half, he's somehow managed to re-summon his cursor and is dragging the wreckage into the Recycle Bin, indicating that he didn't reboot his computer.

The second of the Animator's creations, given a strong title for the purpose of giving a good fight. After his defeat, he ends up enslaved for several years, but he manages to destroy Alan's computer and escape into the Internet, where he teams up with the Dark Lord. [[HeelFaceTurn But then he starts changing his mind on things]].

* VitrolicBestBuds: Even excluding the friendly sparring, there is so much fighting and arguing between these five little guys. Doesn't change the fact they will do anything to keep each other safe.

* PopCulturedBadass:
** The main cast are simple stick figures but awesome fighters as most of their adventures and skills stem from the many video games they play, such as Franchise/SuperMarioBros, VideoGame/LeagueOfLegends, [[VideoGame/PokemonGoldandSilver Pokemon]], and particularly VideoGame/{{Minecraft}}. They also enjoy watching other people play video games and Website/{{YouTube}} action videos of other stick figures fighting each other.

* DivergentCharacterEvolution: Because of their limited screentime, they don't really have unique personalities in ''Animator Vs Animation IV'', but the following videos give them distinct character traits with Red being an animal lover, Yellow being good at engineering and coding, Blue loving gardening, potion and food-making (and having a bad Nether wart addiction), and Green being the best architect and musician.

** The Second Coming simply makes a house for himself, showing his unwillingness to go on adventures and preference to staying home. In Animator vs. Animation IV after defeating Alan's cursor, he goes on to create drawings and befriending them showcasinge TSC's trait of being the ArtAttacker and just simply wanting to have friends.
** When Green is introduced to the ''Minecraft'' Icon, he used it to build a fully ''functioning'' windmill showcasing the first ever moment of him being an architect and TheAce. Hhis music abilities would not come until "Note Blocks".

The Second Coming possesses [[AmbiguousSituation unknown connections]] to the Chosen One: Task Manager states he is "the Chosen One's Return", though ''Animator vs. Animation V'' contradicts it by revealing the Chosen One is alive and well. For what it's worth, he's rarely even referred to by his name: WordOfGod tends to call him "Orange", an AscendedFanNickname that eventually crossed to the series itself[[note]]At the end of "Ultimate Minecart Race", you can briefly see the command block's text call him "Orange" when Yellow uses it on him.[[/note]]. Not to be confused with [[Characters/AnimatorVsAnimationAdversaries the other stick figure named Orange]].

* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: The Second Coming usually shows a lot of emotions no matter what: even when fighting, you can usually tell if he's [[BloodKnight enjoying a friendly spar]] or enraged at whoever he is fithing. [[spoiler:This makes his SuperMode all the more weird and unnerving, as he displays ''zero'' emotion while giving a total CurbStompBattle against the Dark Lord.]]

One of the four Fighting Stick Figures from the [=SticksFight=] website, and [[TheLancer the Second Coming's closest friend]]. He's very good at building and music, ocassionally has ButtMonkey tendencies, and has a troubled relationship with Purple that is finally settled in "Note Block Universe.

* ThePacifist: Downplayed, as he ''is'' willing to get his hands dirty, but it's shown several times he's willing to go the less-brutal way if he has the option to. TheHero of the series, he is an orange stick figure created by the Animator. He rebelled against his creator and managed to avoid his deletion after the latter wiped his friends out, but made peace with him when the latter revived his friends, becoming TrueCompanions.

** The Second Coming simply makes a house for himself, showing his unwillingness to go on adventures and preference to staying home.

* PrimaryColorChampion: Exaggerated. With the exception of Green and the Second Coming (whose colors are secondary), the rest of them have their own respective color from the primary colors Red, Blue and Yellow and they are certainly heroic.

* LovecraftLite: Of the DigitalAbomination variety. They are simple drawings (the Second Coming) and animations (the other guys) that manage to come to life out of nowhere, without anything instigating it, and manage to have as much control over the PC as the Animator himself. Whenever they interact with a video game or website, their mere influence makes characters on them come to life, too. It mixes with HumanoidAbomination and BeneloventAbomination, as they're human-like stick figures and fully heroic.
