* AdaptationalBadass: Compared to his original "Baffler Meal" appearance where he was arguably more like Meatwad.

* CharacterizationMarchesOn: In the first few episodes, he was robotic and subservient to Shake. By the time the Mooninites make their first appearance, his more recgonizable BadassBookworm personality becomes established.

* VocalEvolution: While his voice has always been deep, he sounded considerably more deadpan in the first few episodes.

* {{Flanderization}}: Shake was already a jerkish {{Cloudcuckoolander}} in the beginning, but he was generally depicted as harmless and genuinely determined to do his job as a detective in spite of his own laziness, even if it was primarily to feed his ego. Once the detective theme was phased out, his laziness, stupidity, and cruelty were amped up, with Shake becoming a PsychopathicManchild who is completely disconnected from reality and would literally rather die than work.

* TheDitz: One if the '''biggest''' ones in the series. Listing every single example of his stupidity would easily take up it's own page, and then some.

* PolicitcallyCorrectVillain: Surprisingly, given his general bigotry, he's actually pretty accepting when Frylock comes out as trans in the movie.

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Sometimes misspelled as Ezekiel, like the actual Biblical figure.

* BrilliantButLazy: Master Shake is unapologetically and refuses to do anything he could do on his own, such as write, and expects someone else to do it. However, on occasion, he's shown that when motivated by self-gain or sick pleasure, he's capable of many things.

* {{Cuckoosnarker}}: Shake's a complete lunatic who bases his worldview on InsaneTrollLogic, but that he's still a ''hell'' of a snarker.

* FauxAffablyEvil: He'll ''attempt'' to come off as friendly, but it fools nobody.

** Shake is an incredibly mean, self-serving, narcissistic, sociopathic douchebag with a total disregard for life.

* ForTheEvulz: Master Shake physically and psychologically tormenting Meatwad for no reason other than his own amusement.

* TheFriendNobodyLikes: Frylock and Meatwad at best just tolerate him, and they're not likely to care if he's in danger by his own fault or otherwise. When Frylock used the Buddy Nugget, a device made to attract friends based on their personal likes and dislikes, ''no one'' showed up for Shake. Note that this is entirely on Shake's end, as in the rare isntances where he is not being a jerk or messing with the others they can get along quite fine. "Revenge of the Trees" and "Dummy Love" are prime examples in which he is mostly friendly towards his roommates and they show no animosity to him.

A giant, talking milkshake-[[SincerityMode yes, you read that right]]-and the self-proclaimed leader of the group. He's a [[ItsAllAboutMe self-centered]], profoundly insensitive, and ''[[TheDitz incredibly]]'' [[TheDitz stupid]] person who [[SmallNameBigEgo thinks he's far more awesome than he actually is]].

* AlasPoorVillain: Very rarely, Shake's death will actually be mourned by the other Aqua Teens and treated tragically, such as in "Muscles" and "Jiggalo". The situations are generally utterly ridiculous, but still somewhat sad because of how genuinely his friends mourn him.
* AmbiguouslyBi:

** In "Reedickyoulus", he has unprotected sex with a [[BestialityIsDepraved zombie-infected gorilla]] that is presumably male, gets infected with a zombie STD, and ends up joining all the other zombie gorillas in their "Gay Zombie Ape Party Bus". At this point, the ''only'' reason why Shake still qualifies for this trope is due to RuleOfFunny.
* AndThereWasMuchRejoicing: Downplayed as they don't particularly celebrate it, but whenever Shake dies nobody really gives a shit.

* ArmoredClosetGay: He's quite homophobic and casually uses the word gay as an insult, but it's heavily implied he's bisexual and he proves fine with having sex with men.
* AttentionWhore: Always does stupid shit for the sole purpose of seeking attention. Just look at the quote above. Technically speaking, Shake set the entire city on fire in "The Super Hero" with the intent to gain some publicity.
* AssholeVictim: When he meets his end, it's usually well-deserved.

* AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther: Every once in a blue moon, Shake will show he genuinely does care about the other Aqua Teens and Carl. [[DeconstructedTrope Unfortunately]], he cares about them mostly because he enjoys tormenting them the most, but he will every occasionally show sincere affection in his own way. It's most notably demonstrated in the "Allen" two-parter, where Shake is inconsolable when Meatwad and Frylock move out... and then tries to make Allen zap them with lightning for fun.

* BelievingTheirOwnLies: He's a CompulsiveLiar and also has a loose grip on reality. Often he'll make up lies for his own benefit, then start acting as if they were true. A notable example is "Bus of the Undead", where he spins a story about how the school bus parked outside the Aqua Teen's house is "a [[OurVampiresAreDifferent reverse vampire]]" and "possessed by the ghost of {{Dracula}}". Despite the fact that this is entirely his own invention, he proceeds to operate throughout the rest of the episode as if it was true, to the point where he runs screaming back into the house after a failed attempt to impale the bus with a stake.

* BigBad: [[DownplayedTrope The closest thing the series has to one, anyway.]] Shake is one of the protagonists, but tends to either be either responsible for the problems the Aqua Teens face or the one escalating them into being irreparable ([[NegativeContinuity until the end of the episode, anyway]]).

* BrilliantButLazy: Master Shake is openly lazy and refuses to do anything he could do on his own, such as write, and expects someone else to do it. On occasion, he's shown that when motivated by self-gain or sick pleasure, he's capable of many things.

* BullyingADragon: Shake has a nasty habit of antagonizing supernatural and extraterrestrial beings.

** In the first few episodes, he was genuinely committed to his job as a detective and legitimately tried to get things done. In pretty much any other episode, Shake would whine about having to work the entire time and then run away at the first opportunity.

* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Understatement of the century. Shake is just trapped in his own little world and seems to completely lack self-awareness and common sense, and is prone to coming up with crazy ideas out of the blue.
* CoolBigBro: In the very rare moments where he lets go of his own sociopathic behavior, he can very much share mutual company with Meatwad and have the latter join his many antics to piss off Frylock.

* {{Cuckoosnarker}}: Yes, Shake's a complete lunatic who bases his worldview on InsaneTrollLogic, but that doesn't mean he isn't skilled in the art of sarcasm.

* DefiantToTheEnd: Whenever he's at someone's or somethings mercy, he can stupidly decide to keep his arrogance up until he's dead, apparently not knowing or caring that it'd get him killed.
* DependingOnTheWriter: He's generally a JerkWithAHeartOfJerk, but there ''are'' rare occasions where he can be a JerkWithAHeartOfGold.

* DidntThinkThisThrough: Another major flaw of his, he never thinks his plans through. These include: using and advertising the e-helmet and its peripherals when cell phones are smaller and require none, making a new birthday song and expecting people will accept it and pay royalties so he can pay Zak Wylde for singing it, setting off nuclear missiles to make a wasteland instead of use Frylock's time machine to visit the stone age, etc.
* DirtyCoward: He's not one to be relied upon in times of crisis, since he always abandons his companions, when he's not selling them out to save his own life. Though this is subject to DependingOnTheWriter; sometimes Shake quickly turns chicken, sometimes he'll remain DefiantToTheEnd (generally when said End is entirely avoidable, asinine, and/or his fault), and sometimes he'll ''kill himself'' for absurdly petty reasons.
* DisabilityAsAnExcuseForJerkassery: When Frylock berates Shake for using the eponymous remote to traumatize Meatwad in "Universal Remonster", Shake claims to have a disease to excuse his actions.

* TheDitz: Shake's a dumbass who can hardly do anything professional to save his life.

* EnemyToAllLivingThings: No form of life is safe around him, especially animals. He killed all of Meatwad's pets by putting them in the microwave, he even killed his own cat (although that was an accident because he forgot he killed Meatwad's cat). He adopted a dog to attract women, kicked it for not doing what it was adopted for, then ate it [[ItMakesSenseInContext because his tattoo told him to]]. One of his favorite past times is to force feed ducks with nitroglycerin to make them explode. He also likes to wail on frogs with golf clubs. He once trespassed on a farm to force feed a cow pork and ranch dressing so that he could flash fry it with batter and cheese for Labor Day.

* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes:

** He does care about Frylock and Meatwad, albeit in a very twisted way. Still, it's shown multiple times he doesn't want them to ''die'' because he sincerely cares about them. Though it does seem to be because they're his favorite targets.
** He also genuinely thinks of Carl as a friend, which still won't stop Shake from killing or injuring him for fun.
* EvenEvilHasStandards:
** He may be a selfish, greedy bastard with no remorse for his often absentminded actions, but even ''he'' draws the line at certain things, such as ''poisoning small children with chemical filled balloons at their own birthday parties.''
** In "MC Pee Pants", he's actually somewhat mortified at Frylock taking advantage of the titular [[ItMakesSenseInContext batshit insane spider-wearing-a-diaper's trust to lure him into an explosive trap disguised as a job interview and kill him]]. Although perhaps it had something to do with Frylock saying MC would do fine despite his protests, and then ''immediately'' [[HypocriticalHumor rationalizing their murder with the exact same reasons as to why he'd never make it.]]

* RedemptionEqualsDeath: [[spoiler:He spends a surprising amount of time during the series finale being '''''kind''''', sacrificing himself to save Meatwad after the two are attacked on the planet they travelled to in order to find Frylock a new jewel and save his life. Beforehand, he tells Meatwad that most of his abuse was in the form of ToughLove in his eyes.]]

** In "Shake Like Me", Master Shake gets bitten by a radioactive black man, turns black and becomes much friendlier compared to his original self. Unfortunately, Shake being nice was found to be a bit too creepy, so Frylock [[StatusQuoIsGod returned him to his normal (jerkass) self.]]

* OnlySaneMan: He's usually the only Aqua Teen with a shred of sanity in his body. [[NotSoAboveItAll He's got his moments of questionable behavior]], though he's otherwise the main reason the trio are able to get ANYTHING done.

* TheDitz: [[ExaggeratedTrope And that's putting it]] ''[[ExaggeratedTrope extremely]]'' [[ExaggeratedTrope mildly.]] He's regularly outsmarted and manipulated by [[TooDumbToLive SHAKE, of all]] [[LethallyStupid people,]] is rarely able to follow directions, and says some of the dumbest shit you'll ever hear in your life.

* FreudianExcuse: Shake mentions in the episode "Reedickyoulus" that the reason he's so messed up is because he wasn't raised properly. [[spoiler: Given that he was created by Dr. Weird, he wasn't kidding.]]

* CharacterizationMarchesOn: In the first few episodes, he was genuinely committed to his job as a detective and legitimately tried to get things done. In pretty much any other episode, Shake would whine about having to work the entire time and then run away at the first opportunity.

* KnowNothingKnowItAll: He insists he is right on everything, especially when Frylock gives a simpler and more rational explanation. This is probably due to him being a {{Cloudcuckoolander}} and a complete jerkass at the same time.
* LackOfEmpathy: Especially towards Meatwad. In "Zucotti Manicotti", he has no problem with traumatizing Meatwad to the point of becoming suicidal.

* TheSociopath: Explicitly described this way in "Freda".

* JerkWithAHeartOfJerk: Whenever Shake does good deeds for others, there's usually some selfish motive behind his nice ways. There are hints that he does sincerely like the other Aqua Teens and Carl, but that never stops him from tormenting them and it's clear he loves himself far more.

* DirtyCoward: He's not one to be relied upon in times of crisis, since he always abandons his companions, when he's not selling them out to save his own life.

* TheGadfly: He annoys the rest of the characters for attention.

* JerkWithAHeartOfJerk: Whenever Shake does good deeds for others, there's usually some selfish motive behind his nice ways.

* NominalHero: If any character is a "hero in name only" it's Shake.

* TookALevelInJerkass: At the start of the series, what with its EarlyInstallmentWeirdness, Shake was incompetent and kind of a self-centered jerk already but he still tried to solve crimes and get things done. Before the first season was even over, Shake was hitting the decline, and by the second season he hit it so hard that he'd let Carl bleed to death by a self-inflicted gun wound he was responsible for by breaking into Carl's house in the first place. From there, Shake's descent into being a JerkWithAHeartOfJerk was cemented and he just got worse with each season.

* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: He's casually homophobic and often refers to people as gay as an insult. He also uses slurs against Italian Americans to insult a bookie working for TheMafia [[TooDumbToLive immediately after the man finished giving Shake a]] NoHoldsBarredBeatdown.

* BoomerangBigot: He disparagingly calls Willie Nelson gay and clearly means it as an insult. Another episode has Shake have sex with a male zombie gorilla and later join a group of zombies in a gay orgy.

* HiddenDepths: Surprisingly, Carl really likes [[Music/LoverboyBand Loverboy]] and even went to see a concert in Madison Square in '85. He also likes Foreigner.
