* BeyondRedemption: After [[FallenHero Marcy]] declares that "The Marcy you knew... '''[[ThatManIsDead is dead]]'''", Yunan takes her at her word, swearing that she'll stop her former friend. Anne similarly feels that Marcy can't be saved, only stopped.

* RightForTheWrongReasons: Yunan and Lady Olivia intend to rescue Marcy because the latter believes the girl was only acting the the way she is has is because she's been {{Brainwashed}} by King Andrias. While its heavily implied the Core did this to the young teen in the first chapter with further MoreThanMindControl while Marcy was in the HealingVat, King Andrias possesses no such ability or technology to do that. To be fair she had never heard of or met the Core until not long afterwards.

* BigBadWannabe: He sasha were this a t the beginning of the story Sasha. The plot to take over Newtopia actually went pretty smoothly, culminating in them snatching the Calamity Box and briefly usurping the throne. The main reason for their failure is them being unable to convince anyone of their discovery that King Andrias is the BigBad and Marcy as TheDragon who intend to become {{Multiversal Conqueror}}s, thanks to a combination of [[ChronicBackstabbingDisorder Sasha's constantly betraying their trust]] and Grime's own past villainous actions against the heroes making it impossible for them to get the heroes to listen to them. As such, the heroes help King Andrias take the city back ''and'' give him and Marcy access to the Box, unaware until far too late that Sasha and the toads were actually the LesserOfTwoEvils.

* BaitTheDog: When Lady Olivia grabs her arm and tries to get Marcy to pull a HeelFaceTurn, Marcy notes she could easily [[KickTheDog slap her hand away]], but [[SubvertedTrope Subverts]] this by gently brushing her hand off out of remaining fondness for her Newt friend... Then it gets [[DoubleSubvertedTrope Double Subverted]] when she spitefully tells her and Yunan that the [[ThatManIsDead Marcy they knew]] '''[[ThatManIsDead is dead]]''', rendering her rescue attempt which put their lives on the line AllForNothing.

* AngryAnimalisticGrowl: Marcy has been shown to do this when enraged, most notably when she holds Sprig out of the window and pulls a GoThroughMe on Yunan when she threats to attack the Core.

* IJustWantToBeSpecial: Part of how Andrias and the Core brainwashed Marcy into joining was appealing to this and her fear of having a boring, normal life.

* IntergenerationalFriendship: Andrias is well over a thousand years older than Marcy, having personally met her ancestors. Unlike canon, he doesn't try and force himself to see her as just a pawn despite his genuine fondness for her and as a result they have a VillainousFriendship, they have basically become each other's OnlyFriend after this fic's version of the event of "True Colors".
