[[caption-width-right:350:The AMG Vision Gran Turismo, one of the well-known examples amongst the many other brands.]]

->''"Many manufacturers accepted our offer, and now there are many "ideal" Grand Touring cars represented in the game. Vision Gran Turismo, which began as project to celebrate the game's 15th anniversary, continues to bring together the automotive passions of you, the user, and the car companies. The cars have been introduced one at a time throughout the Gran Turismo series, and the project will only increase in popularity as more and more people sample these unique machines."''
-->--'''Description''', ''VideoGame/GranTurismo'' official website

The ultimate SuperPrototype made by the world's top automobile manufacturers for the video game series ''VideoGame/GranTurismo'', which are noted for using its very modern-day technology, aesthetics and aerodynamics, [[ExaggeratedTrope taken to its logical extreme]] and would also define a glimpse of the brands' future productions.

The Vision Gran Turismo name dates back in the 2006 SelfContainedDemo game, ''Gran Turismo HD'', before it would be fully utilized seven years later in ''Gran Turismo 6'' as part of the franchise's [[MilestoneCelebration 15th anniversary]]. The very first VGT that started it all would be the AMG Vision Gran Turismo ''(pictured above)'', made by Mercedes-Benz, which had BroadStrokes from the 300 SL, but with no rear window and an active rear spoiler. Another notable example would be the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo which had a Le Mans prototype-style shark fin and active rear wing, large front splitter and side air intakes. Its body design would evolve into the production model of the Bugatti Chiron.

Many VGT cars offer in a wide variety of engine types ranging from internal combustion engines (ICE) from Peugeot, BMW, Mazda or Honda, to plug-in hybrids (PHEV) of [=McLaren=] Mitsubishi and Nissan, and even [[GreenAesop all-electric engines]] made by Hyundai, Porsche, Audi and Jaguar. There were also cars even made by non-automobile manufactures, such as renowned Italian luxury fashion house, Bulgari (BVLGARI).

No wonder this future-gen {{Jerkass}} is AlwaysSomeoneBetter...
[[AC:Film -- Live Action]]
* It's surprising that [[ProductPlacement the film has a deal with Mercedes]] to showcase their cars, and even arguably the first VGT to sever show in Hollywood. Bruce Wayne of ''Film/JusticeLeague2017'' picks up Barry Allen in a Mercedes Vision VideoGame/GranTurismo which wasn't intended for actual production and didn't even have a working prototype. They had to build the car from scratch and even expand the size a little to better fit the very tall Ben Affleck.

* ''Obviously'', where it all started, ''VideoGame/GranTurismo'' has Vision Gran Turismo models aplenty, which are {{Improbably|CoolCar}} cool concept cars built by numerous brands around the world, with performances that go beyond what man can exceed. There's lots to name that it spawned a "Vision Gran Turismo Trophy" event series dedicated to nothing but VGT models, and some would have Gr.1 regulated versions so they can also compete with the Le Mans prototypes.
** Of all the VGT models, the most honorable and memorable would be the godly SRT Tomahawk X VGT which has '''''over 2,500 HP''''', insane cornering and can go blast past '''''[[SuperSpeed 600 km/h]]'''''! Looks like ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill since you can take it to the "Vision Gran Turismo Trophy+" of ''Sport'' since the event has as absolutely ''no power cap''. Enjoy lapping everyone multiple times.
** While there's already the renowned AMG VGT, there's also the LH Edition, made by "the maestro" and seven-time UsefulNotes/FormulaOne champion Creator/LewisHamilton. Only shows up in ''Sport'' as a "Lewis Hamilton Time Trial Challenge" reward car, but sadly didn't make the cut in ''7''.
** Both the Porsche Vision Gran Turismo and the Mazda RX-VISION [=GT3=] Concept would be the VGT cars acting as the cover cars of ''Gran Turismo 7''.
* ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoOnline'' has some [=VGTs=] outside of ''Gran Turismo'' that would rather be to hot to drive around Los Santos:
** The heavily-modified Chiron-esque Custom version of the Truffade Nero has racing modifications to strongly resemble the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo.
** Don't forget the first VGT-esque car; the Lexus LF-LC based Emperor [=ETR1=]. Though it has a heavy inspiration to the Toyota FT-1, which is also another VGT, too.
* If you like to show your love for [=VGTs=], then the Tygris of ''VideoGame/RocketLeague'' is just for you. Its body is loosely based off the Mitsubishi XR-PHEV Evolution VGT.

->''"The result of a Ford-Lotus partnership, the Cortina was originally called the "Consul Cortina Sports Special by Lotus." Future F1 World Champion Jim Clark drove this variant of the [=Mk1=] Ford Cortina to a first-place finish in the 1964 British Touring Car Championship."''
-->--'''Gotham Sport Comment''', ''VideoGame/ProjectGothamRacing 4''

Take TheAllegedCar from Ford and have another partnership do all the work... and you have is the everyday English 2-door family saloon of Ford in collaboration with high-performance parts from Lotus. And that is the Ford Lotus Cortina... or just simply... the Lotus Cortina.

Henry Ford II commissioned Lotus' Colin Chapman in building a Ford Cortina into something worth of its performance, and allowing it to be capable to give Ford a good reputation in the racing world. What Lotus did was take the existing Cortina and assigned Cosworth in building a Twin-Cam version of the 1.6 liter four-cylinder Kent engine, bearing 115 horsepower and nearly 1,600 cc.

The Lotus Cortina became active in UsefulNotes/{{Rallying}}, though the car was overshadowed by the success of the Ford Escort, due to the car's [[TheAllegedCar reputation for its unreliability]]. However it saw a light in touring car racing with 2-time UsefulNotes/FormulaOne world champion Jim Clark, winning the British Saloon Car Championship with this car in 1964.

->''"The GT by Citroën is a concept car that was born from a collaboration between Citroën and "Gran Turismo". It drew much attention as soon as it was announced at the 2008 Paris Auto Salon, and the avant-garde design by Citroën designer Takumi Yamamoto was highly praised."''
-->--'''Description''', ''VideoGame/GranTurismo 5''

You already probably know this car is tied to the ''VideoGame/GranTurismo'' series. And actually... of course it is.

To explain this, the GT by Citroën is a concept sports car designed in collaboration with French manufacturer Citroën and Creator/PolyphonyDigital, the developer behind the ''VideoGame/GranTurismo'' franchise, unveiled in the 2008 Paris Motor Show. The exterior was designed by Takumi Yamamoto, who was the [[ChildhoodFriends childhood friend]] of the franchise's creator, Kazunori Yamauchi.

In-game, the car is hydrogen-fuel cell powered with about 780 horsepower, whereas the actual RealLife model uses a 646-horsepowered 5.4 Ford Modular V8 engine, the same engine used on high-end Ford Mustangs, Ford GT and later the Brabham [=BT62=].

In 2009, Citroën confirmed for this video game car to get the {{Defictionalization}} treatment, with production only in limited quantities, however rumors say production was allegedly cancelled in 2010 due to high costs (which was refuted since). A dream GT supercar of Citroën was only a mirage that never came to realize its dreams.

[[AC:Video Games]]
* ''Obviously'', the ''VideoGame/GranTurismo'' series is where you find this car! It made its appearance since the car's debut in ''5: Prologue''
** Its PSP game has this, but also a [[DownloadableContent downloadable]] SP Model with a yellow paint job (which is not in any of the factory colors).
** In ''5'' and ''6'', you get 3 different GT by Citroën models: the concept car from ''5: Prologue'' and the PSP game, a petrol-powered road car and the modified race car, which can be won in the Dream Car Championship (B-spec only).
** In ''Sport'' and ''7'', the GT by Citroën serves as the basis for Citroen's Gr. 4 and Gr. 3 race car. While the regular road car can be purchased normally in ''Sport'', in ''7'', [[LoyalPhlebotinum a Citroën invitation is required to purchase the car.]] So farm some roulette tickets and maybe try your luck.
* While it does appear only in ''Gran Turismo'' series, the later years saw other [[RacingGame racing games]] feature the ({{Defictionaliz|ation}}ed) GT by Citroën outside of the franchise as a GuestFighter:
** One of the ''non-GT'' appearances is ''VideoGame/{{Asphalt}} 8: Airborne'', where the GT appeared via Multiplayer League Update in 2016. The GT later appears in ''9: Legends'' in a Full Throttle Update on December 2020.
** The "Blazing Shots" update in November 2019 of ''VideoGame/TheCrew2'', classified as a hypercar. To avoid Sony suing Creator/{{Ubisoft}} (being a multi-platform game and all), the car replaces the ''Gran Turismo'' logo on the front bumper with a generic checkerboard pattern.

The Mercedes-Benz SLR [=McLaren=] is a supercar/grand tourer [[{{Crossover}} jointly developed]] between the German Mercedes-Benz and the British [=McLaren=], introduced in 2003. The name SLR is short for [[MeaningfulName Sport Leicht Rennsport]] (Sport Light Racing), a CallBack to the original 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR ''Uhlenhaut Coupé'', serving as inspiration of this car and the SpiritualSuccessor.

The car was offered in both coupé and roadster, with the speedster that followed after. It's powered by supercharged [=M155=] SLR V8 engine, generating 617 horsepower, mated to a 5-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT R five-speed automatic transmission. Its reason the car had 5 gears is because a 7-speed transmission was too complex and would use more components.

In 2006, a new version of the SLR was introduces, as the Mercedes-Benz SLR [=McLaren=] 722 Edition, as the "722" refers to the victory of UsefulNotes/FormulaOne driver Sterling Moss who started the 1955 Mille Miglia with the 722 number (indicated with a start time of 7:22 am). It has 24 horsepower more than its vanilla SLR. A roadster followed the year after with the 722 S Roadster also unveiled. A limited edition SLR Stirling Moss, named after said Formula One driver mentioned above, uses a speedster styling, which didn't include a windscreen.

While the SLR discontinued and was succeeded by the SLS AMD in 2010, [=McLaren=] Special Operations (MSO) on the other hand offers bespoked programs of the SLR. Models inclufe the [=McLaren=] Edition in 2011 and the SLR [=McLaren=] HDK (High Downforce Kit) in 2022.

* Balthazar's Rolls-Royce in ''Film/TheSorcerersApprentice'' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3DAmaMF3TQ can shapeshift into a Mercedes-Benz SLR [=McLaren=]]]... and then a [[EveryCarIsAPinto Ford Pinto]].
[[AC:Music]]
* Ukrainian singer Anna Sedokova drives a black SLR Roadster throughout the desert roads of the UsefulNotes/UnitedStates in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyIMdBUV594 this music video]].
* "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxFhwtwiw6o Last Night]]" by Music/{{Diddy}} (and Keyshia Cole) has him drive a silver SLR [=McLaren=].
[[AC:Video Games]]
* This would be highly regarded as Mercedes's supercar in ''VideoGame/{{Asphalt}}''. First appeared in ''Urban GT 2'', then the SLR Stirling Moss in ''6: Adrenaline'' and finally the SLR Roadster in ''8: Airborne'' and ''9: Legends''.
* John Tanner can drive this in ''VideoGame/DriverSanFrancisco'', though it's marketed as a [=McLaren=] brand instead of a Mercedes-Benz. It was featured in the "Undercover" mission where the CIA agents' SLR is the car Tanner drives whilst escaping the cops, and then [[DrivingIntoATruck driving it inside AEGIS]].
* ''VideoGame/{{Forza}}'' features both the vanilla SLR and the roofless speedster, the SLR Stirling Moss. They stopped adding the car after ''Motorsport 6'' because of the two joint brands' toxic relations.
* The infamous Mission 34 of ''VideoGame/GranTurismo 4'' puts you in the SLR [=McLaren=] around the Nürburgring. The chief problem? There's a ''two-minute wait'' before you start, reasoning why many players don't achieve a HundredPercentCompletion. Seriously... a '''TWO MINUTE WAIT??''' No wonder it underwent MemeticMutation!
** Since the SLR only comes in either silver or black, the PSP counterpart has an SP Model, painted in Magmarot Red.
* The [=SM722=] in ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoOnline'' is based on the SLR Stirling Moss.
* ''VideoGame/{{GRID}}'' features both the road-going SLR 722, alongside its racing variant SLR 722 GT (''GRID 2'' only).
* It is the A-Class Exotic that only made its [[OneShotCharacter one-shot appearance]] in ''VideoGame/MidnightClub 3: DUB Edition". Ceasar from By Invitation Only drives this car when you encounter him for the first time.
* The SLR debuted in ''VideoGame/NeedForSpeedMostWanted'' as one of the high-end cars. Bull, [[BigBad Razor's]] NumberTwo, both figuratively and literally (in that he's both TheDragon to Razor and #2 in the Blacklist) drives this, albeit in [[WhatAPieceOfJunk a near-bone-stock body with barely any customizations]]. Though he has his valid reasons. Later returned in ''[[VideoGame/NeedForSpeedCarbon Carbon]]''.
** It's quite notable in ''[[VideoGame/NeedForSpeedHotPursuit Hot Pursuit (2010)]]'', where cops get the 722 Edition SLR, while the racers get the 722 Stirling Moss. Keep in mind, the car has ''no roof and no windshield''. [[NoOneCouldSurviveThat A roll-over in that car would clearly kill the driver!]] Sadly, [[ChuckCunninghamSyndrome both these cars were removed in the Remastered version]] [[ScrewedByTheLawyers due to licensing issues]].
** The last appearance of the SLR would be in ''[[VideoGame/NeedForSpeedRivals Rivals]]''. This time, using the 722 S Roadster, exclusively to racers.
* Considered to be a C-Class sports car in ''VideoGame/ProjectGothamRacing 3'' & ''4''.
* It is a high-end A-class supercar in ''VideoGame/TestDriveUnlimited''. The sequel replaces the vanilla SLR [=McLaren=] with the 722 S Roadster, alongside the roofless 722 Stirling Moss. Tess's father Stuart Wintory drives a customized 722 S, where you can win his car after beating him in a [[DuelBoss duel]].

->''"In an effort to bring back the Japanese legacy of light, affordable sports cars, Subaru and Toyota teamed up to create a brand new fun-to-drive sports car. The goal of the joint effort was a focus on the joy of driving, making a vehicle with superior handling and feel."''
-->--'''Forzavista''', ''VideoGame/{{Forza}} Motorsport 5''

The Toyota [=GT86=]/Subaru BRZ is a 2+2 sports car jointly developed by Toyota and Subaru.

Inspired by Toyota's legendary [=AE86=]/Sprinter Trueno/Corolla Levin, it is a fastback coupé equipped with Subaru's trademark naturally-aspirated boxer engine; a front-engine, rear-wheel drive and low center of gravity, thus having similar handling capabilities as the [=AE86=]; while its exterior design is inspired by the Toyota 2000GT, the highly sought-after grand tourer of the 1960s.

Toyota also sold the car in the United States and Canada under their Scion marque as the Scion FR-S from 2012 to 2016. Besides the aforementioned name, Toyota marketed the first-generation model as simply the Toyota 86 in Asia, Australia, North America (from 2016), South Africa, and South America; as both the 86 ''and'' the [=GT86=] in New Zealand; and as the Toyota [=FT86=] in Brunei, Nicaragua and Jamaica. The second-generation model is marketed by Toyota as the [=GR86=] as part of the Gazoo Racing family (similar to what they did to the "New Supra", which is marketed as the GR Supra).

[[AC:Anime and Manga]]
* Japanese-English racer Kanata Rivington from ''Manga/MFGhost'' is the pilot behind the pre-facifted Toyota. 86 ([=ZN6=]) as his car for the MFG races. [[WhatAPieceOfJunk Despite being underpowered as opposed to his rivals driving foreign supercars]], his car can achieve BeyondTheImpossible [[WeakButSkilled and has the absolute skills to do so]].
** Later on in the MF Ghost series, a new driver known as Mai Sakurano joins the MFG series with a Blitz tuned GR86. Whilst this car is also underpowered, [[spoiler: she managed to push the car in order to qualify for the final race of MFG's 4th Season, and is currently sitting in 13th Place.]]

[[AC:Video Games]]
* The American-badged Scion FR-S was one of the 47 original base cars in ''VideoGame/{{Asphalt}} 8: Airborne'', considered to be a low-end D-Class car. Sadly, the car was permanently removed because of Toyota's policy of featuring their cars from non-Japanese developed games.
* It all began in ''VideoGame/GranTurismo 5'', where it featured various [[SuperPrototype FT-86 concepts]]. The production version of the 86 GT was finally made available for players in a 2012 update. And it's ''FREE".
** Alongside that is the 2012 Subaru BRZ added as a paid DownloadableContent. The Scion FR-S however is also ''FREE'', like its Toyota counterpart.
** There has been racing variants of the 86/BRZ... first of is the Nürburgring 24 Hours-spec Gazoo Racing 86 in ''6'', which would be replaced by the generic Gr. 4 86 race car in ''Sport'' onwards''. The BRZ on the other hand has its Rocket Bunny drift car driven by Daijro Yoshihara and in ''7's'' very first update has the Super GT BRZ [=GT300=], joining in with the other fellow Gr. 3 racers.
** The final update of ''Sport'' added the second-gen GR 86, and it is the cheapest car in the game, costing only [[StealthPun 8,600 credits]]. The second gen BRZ also joins in ''7'' in its first official update.
* The car appears in ''VideoGame/NeedForSpeed2015'', though oddly enough, the game features the Toyota [=GT86=], the Subaru BRZ ''and'' the Scion FR-S [[PaletteSwap as separate cars, despite all three being essentially the same one]]. The Subaru BRZ in particular is presented as one of the three starter cars the player can choose from to start career mode, and after Toyota left the series after this entry, the BRZ would be the only variant featured afterwards in the series.
* Both the 86 and the BRZ joined forces in ''VideoGame/WanganMidnight Maximum Tune 5''. In ''6'', the very first chapter shows Kou and Maa driving one.
