* The boss of Cyber Station zone pits the player against the Prototype robot, complete with changes if the player bought any. And this Prototype might as well define SuperPrototype as it puts up one hell of a fight. Starting as just itself, it attempts to ram into the player or blast them with lightning orbs. Following a fake out, however, it summons a giant mech to chase the player down as well as a hoard of other prototypes. It then attacks by launching its fellow prototypes at the player as well as hacking the level to turn blocks from the path the player is running on into more enemies to get in their way. Only after being defeated here does the boss go down for good, creating a frantic, yet fun, fight against what may be the players on creation.

* The TrueFinalBoss might be a brutal test of skill, but it sure is a fun one as well. Pitting Super Sonic up against the newly released Black Dragon, the boss will throw everything it has at you, from raining down meteors to blasting out black holes to throwing out vines that turn into dozens of projectiles after a couple seconds to trying to outright ram the player. And this is only phase one. After a couple hits, the Black Dragon will power up, turn the atmosphere from a sunset into a dark vortex before attempting to attack with claw strikes and blasting the player with massive fireballs. Finally, you have to kick meteors back at the Black Dragon with a new aiming system, dodge one final laser before finally finishing the fight. All the while, Tails, Knuckles and, if you are skilled enough, Amy and Trip, keep you supplied with enough rings to keep this epic war of attrition going. Helps that, unlike the other two final bosses, while the fight is challenging, it only has one insta kill move that can be escaped from if one does get caught.

removing pointless complaining, even if regarding a legitimately bad game

* The completely changed Silver boss fight. To start off, there's already a great remix of "Vs Character" from ''VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2006'' playing in the background. Second, instead of Silver grabbing you with his psychic powers, yelling "[[MemeticMutation IT'S NO USE!]]" and then launching you with a "TAAAKE THIS!" [[ObviousBeta to your soon to be caused-by-glitch death]], he's chasing you through Crisis City launching stuff at you. Third, the way you attack him is just SO awesome! You homing attack on multiple platforms and then hit him and he crashes to the ground. Or, you're running on a car crafted from other cars, and homing attack him! Fourth, the end, when he only needs one last hit to take him down. Silver crafts a gigantic ball of junk, with a yell of "METEOR SMASH!" as said giant ball of junk rushes at you. Just to make things more tense, he's also thrown in a container to attempt to crush you with just for a back up plan. With two things trying to smash you at once, and both are dangerously close to you, what does Sonic do? [[SugarWiki/MomentofAwesome HE DODGES THE CONTAINER, AND HOMING ATTACKS SILVER]], [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments WATCHING AS HE GETS CRUSHED BY HIS GIANT JUNK METEORITE]]. It's just a really fun, exciting, and fast paced boss fight that tries to do ''2006'' and [[TheScrappy Silver]] some justice.

* Then, the Final Horizon DLC manages to create an [[spoiler:epic finale by '''merging SUPREME and THE END''' into a single Final Boss battle: after fight against SUPREME, unlike in the main story, THE END opts to use SUPREME as a host to herald its return - and as such, another fight begins, with Sonic facing down THE END, possessing the Titan (with its moon form in the background, no less), and when his regular attacks prove to not be enough, he utilizes the gift he obtained from the Koco after overcoming their trials, turning his Cyber Corruption into power and transforming to the blue-eyed state seen in the trailers, which enhances his attacks to such a degree that they would not seem out of place in a battle anime such as ''Franchise/DragonBall''. Sage still nearly loses her life, though this time protecting Eggman from SUPREME/THE END's attacks. Finally, Sonic cuts loose, despite the Master King's warnings that his newfound power would fade quickly if overused (meaning Sonic was holding back to prevent that outcome for most of the fight), his body turning a similar shade of blue to the one Sage occasionally takes on, before having Eggman fire him out of SUPREME's rifle, having him blow through SUPREME so hard the titan is thoroughly obliterated, before proceeding to pierce through THE END's moon form.]]

* The handheld version doesn't lack good bosses either. Returning from ''VideoGame/SonicAdventure2'', we have the Biolizard, only fought as Sonic this time, and with controls adjusted to a 2D plane just like the bosses in ''[[VideoGame/SonicRushSeries Sonic Rush]]''. Does it work? Oh hell yeah, yes, it does.

* Alf Layla wa-Layla from ''Sonic and the Secret Rings''. Nice departure from the regular final Sonic bosses (no Super Sonic and you CAN get hurt in this boss fight). Challenging as heck and, for the first time in a game, Sonic actually ''pummels the living daylights out of a boss''.
* The bosses from ''Sonic and the Black Knight''. Sure, most of the bosses are easy (once you figure out the quick way to kill them), but both King Arthur fights were cool with you having to race his horse, jump up, and cut the mess out of him. Plus, the battle theme is called "Fight the Knight".

* The Egg Dealer, which is a basically a giant slot machine. Eggman stops the reels on his own if left alone, but you can stop them manually by attacking the switches below them. Three of the same reel gives a different result depending on the image: either you get attacked with bombs or missiles (which will [[HoistByHisOwnPetard backfire and hit Eggman]] if you stop the last reel), A bunch of egg pawns spawn (Only if stopped by Eggman), or you can get rewarded with rings ("[[BigNo NO! My beautiful rings!]]") and even a full Dark meter ("[[OhCrap N-n-no! Not]] '''[[SuperMode Shadow Fever!]]'''") if you stop all three. Just being able to screw over Eggman with his own machine is pure awesomeness. More importantly, it's easier to ''homing attack'' the reel switches than it is to shoot them. Which means that it's one of the few points in the entire game where it actually plays more like a Sonic game than a TPS.

* Stardust Speedway Zone (and thus the first half of the game) caps off with none other than Metal Sonic. It's a long and varied fight, mixing in chase sequences, a machine that produces copies of the Silver Sonic from [[VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog28Bit 8-bit version of]] ''[[VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog28Bit Sonic the Hedgehog 2]]'' (you even get to knock the Silver Sonics into the boss!), and a direct fight while running away from a giant spiked wall. Adding flavor are the nice visuals (the final part of the battle features a 3D Eggman statue in the background, which rotates as you circle around it) and a music track unique to the fight. ''Sonic Mania Plus'' and the Summer 2018 update for the game took the awesome factor up to eleven, and redid the second phase of the fight; with the spiked wall now replaced by Metal Sonic...transformed by the Ruby into Giga Metal, a ''colossal robot'' that chases the player down and shoots bombs and lasers at them. [[ContinuityNod Bonus points]] for Giga Metal being directly based on Metal's [[SurpriseCreepy surprisingly creepy]] OneWingedAngel form from ''VideoGame/KnucklesChaotix'', which served as that game's FinalBoss.

* The FinalBoss fight against the berserk Emerl. On one hand, it's an utterly tragic moment where Sonic has to put down someone who has effectively become his adopted robotic son. On the other hand, it involves you defeating an ultimate combat machine who is superior to you in every way that counts in single combat, in less than 30 seconds according to the story. It's a magnificent showdown and a true test of how well you've mastered the game.

* The Star Light Zone boss, while easy, is pretty unique, as there are two ways of beating Dr. Eggman. You can use bombs to launch yourself at Eggman's mech, or use yourself to launch the bombs back at him.

* Egg Albatross is pretty amazing, considering that you're really only about halfway through when you get to it. It's set up as though it's something more, though, with the cutscene afterwards advancing the plot considerably. A perfect way to end the first half of the story mode. Really, though all three Eggman fights have their flaws, they still effectively present the fact that in this game, he was going ''all-out'' on Sonic and his friends. You have backup in the form of your two allies and their team-based attacks; Eggman has multiple gunners riding tandem with him in his ''much'' larger vehicles, ''and'' on-foot escort units, all of whom are looking to smear all three of you onto the floor!

* As polarizing as this game and its bosses can be, the first fight against Infinite is actually pretty cool. You're running along a serpent while dodging Infinite's Phantom Ruby fields, which will cause obstacles to appear if you touch them, showcasing Infinite's illusion powers in a way he doesn't really show off afterwards. On top of that, the serpent you're running on apparently runs on ''VideoGame/SonicLostWorld's'' physics as you can run on all sides of its body. Your goal is to rush to Infinite and hit him with a Homing Attack before starting the cycle anew. As the fight goes on, his moves get a little trickier to avoid and you'll have to really watch yourself. Once he loses enough health, he'll create several clones for you to attack to get to the real deal. The best part is, if you're ''really'' good, you can hit him several times in one run. And the kicker is that you finally get to whale on the edgelord responsible for Sonic getting captured and the whole six-month long war coming to pass. That, and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1z3at22wENo his boss music]] is pretty awesome.

* In the 3DS version, it shows how far Classic Sonic has come when the first boss is Big Arm, final boss of the third game and once a threat to Super Sonic. Big Arm is fairly challenging the first time, as it's hard to hit in the second phase and it can turn the entire arena around if its shockwave hits you. But once you get the homing attack, you can slaughter the machine that once was stronger than anything Sonic could throw at it in ''seconds''.
