** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28YkftN9Lo8 On the Lam]], the main combat music for season 1. A blood-pumping, fast-paced jam that sounds like a Swing Jazz band got in a scrap with some Chinese street performers.
** The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwPCd1D2tZA Red Lotus Theme]]. Appropriate that the scariest antagonists get the most CreepyAwesome theme in the series. Starting out slow and menacing, building in intimidation, until the percussion kicks in and you know these psychos aren't messing around. And here's a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5_HH8_HT30 metal cover]] that preserves the scares in a different way.
** The finale music tracks really ramp up the urgency and threat that the Colossus poses. In particular, the almost savage-sounding fight track of Korra vs Kuvira accentuates the brutal no-holds-barred battle between the two.

** Suffice to say that Seychelle Gabriel's work as Asami was ''far'' better received than her [[Film/TheLastAirbender previous addition]] to the Avatar franchise. [[note]] Granted, hardly ''anyone'' got a chance to showcase their acting talent in that film... [[/note]]
** Creator/SteveBlum has never been regarded as a bad actor per say, but was extremely pigeonholed as the go-to, over-the-top badass kind of character. In this series, he's ''terrifying'' as Amon as well as very charismatic (while still being badass to boot), commanding the screen in every scene he was in, and [[spoiler:both he and Dee Bradley Baker had one of the most heartbreaking moments of the entire season at the end]].
** Creator/JKSimmons, typically the [[LargeHam Largest of Large Hams]], gives a subtler and extremely well-done performance as Tenzin.
** Before being cast as Korra, Janet Varney was mostly known for her work on various comedic projects (such as Rifftrax). After being cast, however, viewers got to see what she could do when given dramatic substance (in particular many critics have praised her acting in Book 4 for her realistic, [[TearJerker and heartbreaking]] [[spoiler:performance of Korra suffering from PTSD]]).

Instead there were three likely endings. Either: 1)Korra would end up with Mako, 2)Korra would end up alone, or 3)Korra would die. Bryke gave them a fourth.
