* It is Joseph Kosinski's feature film directorial debut. IT IS HIS FIRST FEATURE FILM. (He had previously only directed commercials). RealLife Moment of Awesome.

* The ENCOM security guard looks like your stereotypical fat, incompetent guard at first. But once he hears an alarm and realizes they've been infiltrated, he heads for the server room to confront the possibly-armed intruder even though he's terrified. And when Sam escapes to the crane on the roof, the same fat guard is the only one willing to follow him up there, confront the "thief", and try to talk Sam down. Very brave for some random guy.

** And doubles as a RealLife CallBack; the original movie was Steven Lisberger's feature film directorial debut.

** Directly before that: Sam's reaction to Clu [[KickTheDog kicking Kevin to the ground]]? Running up and punching the bastard in the face. Twice. [[NoSell Didn't do a thing]], but ''damn'' [[DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu it was cathartic]].

* The ENCOM security guard looks like your stereotypical fat, incompetent guard, at first. ** Which is even more awesome and heartwarming if you think of it in terms of FridgeBrilliance - ''of course'' FLYNN LIVES - he's Sam ''FLYNN'' and is taking up his father's legacy.
* Giving Quorra some much-deserved love, this troper loved when she helps Sam take out Rinzler in Clu's quarters despite having her hands cuffed behind her back.

* The visuals. Holy. ''Hell,'' the visuals.
** The TronLines, with their sleek symmetrical designs, fill the entire movie with a distinctive, beautiful style that pays respect to the original film, while still making something unique and modern. Just those lines of light are enough to make the movie stand out.
*** Speaking of the TronLines, y'know how they're also on the character's costumes? That's REAL. Practical effects were used as often as possible, including the absolutely incredible costumes' lighting.
** The landscapes, with their darkness to contrast the lines of light, the subtle geometrical symmetry throughout, it's stunning.
** The way that programs die, shattering to millions of tiny little pixels. Gruesome? Yes. Beautiful? Absolutely.
** Being able to digitally de-age someone was a massive feat back when the film came out. The effect HAS dated a bit, but at the time, that was impressive stuff.

** [[spoiler: Since Rinzler is really Tron, it also adds more guts on Sam's part for facing him twice and surviving.]]
* The face-off at the End of Line Club. Specifically when [[spoiler:Kevin Flynn appears]] and turns the tide of the battle pretty much by [[AwesomenessIsAForce just standing there]].
** To elaborate further [[spoiler:Flynn merely lays a hand on the floor of the club and '''[[PhysicalGod everything just stops]]'''. The lights flicker off, the music comes to a grinding halt, the fighting abruptly stops, ''everything''. Hell, even [[LargeHam Castor]] is left speechless, simply looking upon him in horror.]]

* [[spoiler: Tron overcomes his brainwashing and tries to derezz Clu after repeating his famous line [[CallBack "I fight]] [[ContinuityNod for the]] [[BondOneLiner Users]]!"]]
** [[spoiler: While he fails, credit for trying.]]
* [[spoiler: Flynn sacrificing himself to let Sam and Quorra get to the real world by absorbing Clu and causing an explosion.]]
** [[spoiler:Directly before that: Sam's reaction to Clu [[KickTheDog kicking Kevin to the ground]]? Running up and punching the bastard in the face. Twice. [[NoSell Didn't do a thing]], but ''damn'' [[DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu it was cathartic]].]]

* At the end of the "The Next Day" documentary where Sam pushes past the reporters and enters the elevator: one reporter asks if he has any statement for the press. His response is to open his jacket and show them the shirt he's wearing: [[spoiler: FLYNN LIVES]].
** Which is even more awesome and heartwarming if you think of it in terms of FridgeBrilliance - ''of course'' [[spoiler: FLYNN LIVES - he's Sam ''FLYNN'' and is taking up his father's legacy.]]

** Finally, Clu knocking Sam off of his cycle by slashing the front wheel with his disc. Does Sam run? Nope. He stands there, in front of Clu's cycle, disc drawn. [[spoiler: Fortunately, help arrives JustInTime.]]

* The visuals. Holy. ''Fucking.'' '''SHIT.''' THE VISUALS.

* When Sam first lands in the Digital World, complete with the Flynn's Arcade in the background and a Recognizer hovering above him
* The entire fight between Sam and Rinzler, but especially when they suddenly find themselves fighting upside-down.

* [[spoiler: Flynn sacrificing himself to let Sam and Quorra get to the real world by absorbing Clu and causing an explosion]]

* The light cycle scene like the first movie was one of the awesome moments. Most specifically the scene where it was just Clu and Sam. Sam was knocked off his cycle and rather than run like hell, he faces Clu head on with his disc drawn. [[spoiler: Fortunately, help comes JustInTime.]]

** While he doesn't succeed, he gets credit for trying.
