** The final battle, from start to finish. After backstabbing everyone he could possibly reach and eliminating Kronika in straight kombat, Shang Tsung begins to operate the tower only to be interrupted by Fire God Liu Kang - [[IronicEcho "Cease. Before you doom us all."]] The subsequent conversation is Shang Tsung realizing that he, of all people, was manipulated by Liu Kang into taking the Crown and eliminating all competitors so Liu could come and take it in the aftermath. The subsequent smug smirk Liu Kang gives suggests that he is proud of himself for playing Shang Tsung like a fiddle. So who walks away with the Crown in this near-literal clash of the titans? The game refuses to answer that itself… [[MultipleEndings and instead lets you]] '''[[MultipleEndings Choose Your Final Destiny]]'''.
*** It bears emphasizing the fact that Liu Kang, golden boy hero protagonist who almost never does anything underhanded, had woven a BatmanGambit, relying ''entirely'' on Shang Tsung being a [[ChronicBackstabbingDisorder Chronic Backstabber]] as usual and not being genuine in his desire to help; and it worked so flawlessly, was so ruthlessly effective in doing exactly what he planned and was so completely undiscovered by ''anyone'' involved in it barring the single person he told, that when it dawns on Shang Tsung that he only won because Liu Kang ''let'' him win to guarantee victory against Kronika and stabilize the crown enough to be used without danger, ''[[VillainRespect he looks and sounds amazed and impressed by the revelation.]]'' '''''[[TheChessmaster Shang.]]''''' '''''[[ManipulativeBastard Tsung.]]''''' Was impressed by Liu Kang's gambit. * Kung Lao's ending has make it so that his ancestor the Great Kung Lao defeats Goro instead. As a result, the Great Kung Lao becomes the undisputed Mortal Kombat champion and Earthrealm never loses another tournament. This causes many to join the White Lotus Society in defence of Earthrealm, inspiring rebels to overthrow Shao Kahn. Earthrealm and Outworld make peace afterwards. But just when things look like they will take a turn for the worse as Onaga appears, Kung Lao 'immediately' slays him.

They just get back up and fight the sorcerer for the crown, DefiantToTheEnd.
