** ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamTheWitchFromMercury'' always had both its passionate defenders and its passionate haters, but the ending saw many who were defending it joining the opposite side. The final battles against Quiet Zero and the Space Assembly League are widely seen as incredibly rushed and anticlimactic, with the latter especially notorious for ending on a near-literal DeusExMachina in which Suletta defeats the League's KillSat by reaching [[EleventhHourSuperpower Permet Score 9]] with minimal build-up or foreshadowing. Much like [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamIronBloodedOrphans the previous series]], none of the primary villains (Prospera, Delling, and the four Peil [=CEOs=]) [[KarmaHoudini receive any appropriate punishment for their crimes]]; Prospera in particular is EasilyForgiven by her family, with Shaddiq taking responsibility for Quiet Zero, the most the Peil [=CEOs=] suffer is indefinite house arrest, and while Delling ''is'' shown to be standing trial for his crimes, it's left ambiguous if he'll actually be convicted, and even if he is, its noted in-story that his assets will simply be acquired by another Spacian MegaCorp. The subplots regarding the Dawn of Fold, Earth's deterioration, and the looming war between the Earthians and Spacians are completely dropped with little to no resolution, very few of the overarching questions, such as why Eri has perfect compatibility with the [[BrainComputerInterface GUND Format]], are ever properly explained. All in all, while the ending is happy, especially for a ''Gundam'' story, the general consensus is that it was too rushed and threadbare for some viewers to be fully satisfied with it and is an over correction of the previous series' bleak ending that breaks its own logic and leaves various threads unfinished so it can have a happy ending.

That said, the full canonization of Suletta/Miorine did do a lot to wash out the bad taste.
