* CanadaEh: The English dub was recorded in Montreal, and the voices will sound familiar to anyone who's watched ''Anime/AdventuresOfTheLittleKoala'', ''Anime/TheMysteriousCitiesOfGold'', ''Anime/TheLittlBits'' and so on.

* AdaptationDistillation: In the original book, Rikki-Tikki-Tavi the Mongoose is in an entirely separate story from Mowgli's tales, but the producers obviously decided that since he is among the best known characters in the book, such a cute hero should be included in the series.

** Some of Mowgli's stories are adapted to have happened when he was ten rather than seventeen with examples including ''Red Dog'' and ''The Spring Running.''

Added DiffLines:

* TheAtoner: A mild version. One of the reasons Bagheera is so close to Mowgli in this version is his guilt over causing his parents' death. Not by killing them himself, but by searching for them in the aftermath of Shere Khan's attack on their camp and accidentally scaring them over a cliff. It's for this reason he brings them to the wolf pack and places his vote for the pack to keep him.

Added DiffLines:

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: Bagheera in the opening episode notices Mowgli wandering around and tries to find his parents. He finds them... but since they don't understand his intentions and assume a large wild panther coming out from the jungle shadows is going to attack them, they end up trying to run away from him.

* AdaptationNameChange: Luri's name in the book was Raksha.
* AdaptationalSpeciesChange: One the earliest examples where Tabaqui is changed from a jackal into a hyena, likely to visually distinguish him more from the wolves. The English dub still incorrectly calls him a jackal.

* AnimationBump: The quality of the animation notably varies between episodes. Some, such as the pilot and Shere Khan’s defeat, have decently fluid animation, while others are notably choppy and OffModel.

* MisplacedWildlife: Mowgli mentions skunks in the first episode of the series, even though skunks are exclusively found in North America. No skunks physically show up though.
