''Maple Town'' (''Maple Town Monogatari'') was an animated television series, created by Chifude Asakura, produced by Creator/ToeiAnimation of Japan and originally broadcast on that country's Creator/TVAsahi in 1986 and 1987. The show centered on a community of anthropomorphic animals; its main characters were Patty Rabbit and her friend, Bobby Bear. The town was an impossibly friendly, cheerful place, with the only trouble being caused by the thieving swindler, Wild Wolf, and occasionally by the bratty but generally good-hearted [[AlphaBitch Fanny Fox]]. The series is also noteworthy for featuring the work of a number of staffers who would go on to work on ''Anime/SailorMoon'', including series director Junichi Sato and assistant director Kunihiko Ikuhara (the latter series even features a ShoutOut to ''Maple Town'' in the form of a stuffed rabbit doll of Usagi's, which looks very much like Patty Rabbit).

In the U.S., Creator/SabanEntertainment produced a partial English dub of the series, and added a live-action segment focusing on the moral of each episode, starring Janice Adams as Mrs. Maple. This version aired in syndication and on {{Creator/Nickelodeon}} from 1987 to 1993, and the accompanying toy line was released in the United States by Creator/{{Tonka}}.

The show aired in many other countries, too, including France, Spain, Italy, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the Netherlands.

* TheBusCameBack: It seems that the show was ready to return the Maple Town characters and mothball the Palm Town ones with all the Maple Town characters making a cameo and Patty leaving Palm Town for Maple Town at the end of the second season. However, for better or for worse, the series ended right after Patty boards the boat.

These did not air on TV, but instead were provided to preschools and public libraries and screened as part of the school's curriculum. They have not been released on the collection boxsets either. The only way you'll be able to watch them is if you go to a public library in Japan and request for the tapes, and even then the tapes cannot leave library premises, so you can't just take them home and rip them.

Where exactly in North America is still unclear. Palm Town's location is more ambiguous; {{Fanon}} places it either in Florida or California because of its warm climate and seaside location.
