Di Gi Charat: A Trip to the Planet is TheMovie of [[Anime/DiGiCharat1999 the original series]] that debuted on December 22, 2001.

The plot concerns Dejiko, Puchiko, Gema, and an involuntary Rabi~en~Rose heading back to Dejiko's home planet of Planet Di Gi Charat. However, along the way, the Black Gema Gema Gang attempts to stop them in their tracks.

When the movie was released on [=DVD=], a short special called ''Di Gi Charat: Kuchi Kara Bazooka'' was included which focused on Piyoko and the Black Gema Gema Gang attempting to come up with a way to defeat Dejiko's EyeBeam attack.

!!Tropes [[VerbalTic gema]]!:
* BatmanCanBreatheInSpace: Rabi~en~Rose has no problem being in space, the worst we see is her dried up after being dragged along for a bit by the spaceship and even then that is cured by her taking a hot bath. The other human to go into space, Rod Young, averts this and is seen wearing a spacesuit when he says his farewells to Dejiko.
* BigDamnMovie: While it is still rather lighthearted, the stakes are a bit higher and Dejiko, Puchiko, Gema, and Rabi~en~Rose end up in legitimate danger at several points in the film.
* BreakingTheFourthWall: Dejiko acknowledges that the movie is in widescreen rather than fullscreen at the beginning of the film by pushing away the black bars.
* CallBack:
** Once again, Rabi~en~Rose gets her ears caught in a gap. This time it gets stuck in Dejiko's spaceship and it causes her to come along for the adventure.
** The gang ends up being saved during the battle against Ky by a giant Abarenou, just like in [[Anime/DiGiCharatSpecials the Christmas Special where he turned giant]].
** Rik, Ky, and Coo mention how Piyoko said they were her father, mother, and sibling respectively in the ChristmasSpecial.
* ComedicWorkSeriousScene: While the movie is still overall very comedic, there are quite a few serious moments in it, such as Dejiko recounting her escape from Planet Di Gi Charat and the battle against Ky.
* DancePartyEnding: The end credits have all the characters celebrating, including the Black Gema Gang. Fittingly, a remix of “Party Night” is playing.
* DemotedToExtra: Minataku, Murataku, Mr. Manager, and the Bukumi guys all only appear briefly near the beginning and do not return until the end credits.
* DeusExMachina: Abarenbou appears out of nowhere to save Dejiko and her friends when they're being attacked by Ky.
* DisguisedInDrag: Rik's attempt to stop our heroes involves him disguising himself as an old lady and trying to give them food laced with a substance to put them to sleep.
* GoodColorsEvilColors: The film introduces a version of the Gebas that live on Planet Di Gi Charat which are white rather than black.
* HandGagging: When Puchiko attempts to tell the Queen and King that Rabi~en~Rose's real name is Hikaru Usada, Usada pinches her lips together.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Dejiko ends up destroying her ship by attempting to fire an eye beam at Gema.
* NeverMyFault: Dejiko attempts to blame Usada for causing the ship to crash. Usada is having none of it and [[WhatTheHellHero calls Dejiko out on how it’s her fault for firing an eye beam in such a closed area]].
* PimpedOutDress: Dejiko, Puchiko, and Usada are all given rather fancy dresses during the credits of the film.
* PinkMeansFeminine: Dejiko's royal dress she wears at the end of the film is pink.
* PlayAlongPrisoner: The King and Queen easily fly away after Piyoko monologues about having them captured.
* RoadTripPlot: The plot of the movie is Dejiko, Gema, Puchiko, and Usada traveling to planet Di Gi Charat and the various hijinks they get into on the way.
* SeriesFauxnale: This would be the last time we would see a work set the original series' continuity until ''Reiwa'' in 2022, with ''[[Anime/PanyoPanyoDiGiCharat Panyo Panyo]]'', ''[[Anime/DiGiCharatNyo Nyo!]]'', and ''[[Anime/DiGiCharatWinterGarden Winter Garden]]'' all being AlternateContinuity.
* ShortFilm: The movie is only about 20 minutes long. Amusingly, this technically makes it shorter than most of the seasonal specials as most of those were four 10-minute episodes.
* ThrowTheDogABone:
** The Queen praises Gema for doing such a good job taking care of Dejiko, this actually [[TearsOfJoy brings him to tears]].
** The end credits show that Usada got a fancy dress made for herself alongside Dejiko and Puchiko.
** The Black Gema Gema Gang gets invited to the party that is held at the end of the film and even leaves with a decent amount of leftovers for their home planet.
* TookALevelInBadass: Ky is much more formidable here, with his plan of a space battle causing the most danger to the heroes.
* TheUnfought: Unlike Rik or Ky, the heroes never directly face Coo as [[HoistByHisOwnPetard he ends up being taken out by his own trap.]]
* VillainEpisode: ''Kuchi Kara Bazooka focuses'' on Piyoko and the Black Gema Gema Gang.
* AWolfInSheepsClothing: Rik disguises himself as a kind, old woman as part of his plan to capture Dejiko.
