* While Alvin the Treacherous was a villain in ''WesternAnimation/DragonsRidersOfBerk'', in ''Fanfic/TheBerserkersBride'' he dies before his HeelFaceTurn, having planned on murdering Dagur, taking Hiccup (who is a ''young teenager'') as ''his'' wife and then use her and her then-unborn child to take control of the Hooligan and Berserker tribes (as well as to spite Stoick).

** Alvin the Treacherous is more in line with his book counterpart than his incarnation in ''[[WesternAnimation/DragonsRidersOfBerk Dragons: Riders of Berk]]''. For example: He [[TrainingFromHell trained/tortured]] Heather into becoming one of his spies, killed and replaced the king of Vedrarfjord, and, once the Hooligans arrived to deal with him once and for all, [[spoiler:he set his own fortress on fire to cover his escape, [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness killing at least two underlings with his own hands while doing so]]]].
** Mildew is way worse than his counterpart in ''WesternAnimation/DragonsRidersOfBerk''. [[spoiler:Like his canon counterpart, he defects to one of Berk's enemies but is rewarded by being made a jarl of a village in Alba who quickly earns a reputation for being harsh and brutal. He then heads an expedition to a dragon nest in Iceland to capture dragons for Alba and [[SlaveryIsASpecialKindOfEvil enslaves]] the people who live near where his expedition sets up camp. He also tortures Hiccup when Hiccup accidentally comes across the camp. His private thoughts reveal that in his youth, he murdered nearly his entire clan by [[ManOnFire locking them into a hall and setting fire to it]]. He only got away with it because the people in Berk thought the fire was accidental.]]

* ''Manga/MyHeroAcademia: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ciTiwXemSGo Two Villains]]'' (TheAbridgedSeries version of ''Anime/MyHeroAcademiaTwoHeroes'') does this with the antagonists. In the actual movie, [[spoiler: David Shield]] hired the terrorists to [[spoiler: stage an attack he can steal back his confiscated invention, only for them to double-cross him and take it for themselves]]. In this version, the terrorists are completely acting on their own, [[EvilIsPetty upset that KFC cancelled their order because they were busy helping cater the convention]]. However, [[spoiler: [[AdaptationNameChange David Wayne]]]] still takes advantage of this to [[spoiler: pull a BatmanGambit where he knew they would make off with his invention because it's also a mind control device that lets him serve as the FinalBoss by controlling Wolfram]]. The reason? [[spoiler:He understandably wants revenge on All Might [[WithFriendsLikeThese for being a terrible friend to him and practically ruining his life]], [[GreenEyedMonster but he's also]] ''[[ParentalIncest sexually attracted to his own daughter]]'' ([[EvenEvilHasStandards though a joke implies that]] [[DoWrongRight he at least waited until she was legal]]).]] [[{{Squick}} Aside from the latter]], Deku's reason for taking them on is that [[VillainHasAPoint while he agrees about All Might]], [[WartsAndAll he still admires his confidence for giving people like him hope]].

** Twist in the series was just Applebloom's sole friend before she met the other members of the CMC. In this series, she is a [[spoiler: ''delusion'' trying to persuade Applebloom into doing bad deeds, like burning down the school and hurting other ponies.]]

** Zigzagged with Maud Pie, who in this [[spoiler:is a demon summoned by Pinky Pie 2 to serve the Apple family]], but in a comedic turn, is actually a [[ActualPacifist pacifist]] who refuses to kill anyone and doesn't do anything villainous, beyond allowing ponies to [[spoiler: [[DealWithTheDevil sell their souls to her]]]] on their own free will.

* Estrid is portrayed more harshly in ''Fanfic/{{Daemorphing}}'', as her canonical willingness to create a genocidal virus that might jump species is more fully examined and condemned and her doubts and discomfort about doing so are nonexistent, not to mention the usual suite of Andalite -isms that applies to her. [[spoiler: She also decides to secretly clone Toby, apparently ForTheEvulz.]]

* In ''Series/TheFlash2014'', when Barry's daughter Nora came back from the future Iris was described as a distant mother, but over time characters came to realise that Iris's intentions were still basically good. However, in the fic ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13266807/1/Ice-cold-deception Ice cold deception]]'', it is revealed that Iris in Nora's future deliberately poisoned a pregnant Caitlin after Caitlin and Barry had a brief affair under the influence of another meta with the ability to lower inhibitions, leaving Iris [[FutureMeScaresMe horrified to learn what she did in that future]].

* The ''Fanfic/DayOfTheBarneyTrilogy'' takes Barney and Baby Bop, who are portrayed as sincere and good friends to the kids, and portrays them as villains who successfully get the world's children to kill any adult they come across, [[spoiler: kill their male Special Friends when they turn thirteen, and take the thirteen-year-old girls away to fatally [[MedicalRapeAndImpregnate mother]] mutated offspring.]] They're even revealed to be [[Really700YearsOld Really 65 Million Years Old]] and to have been the harbingers of many of the world's evil dictators and catastrophes.

** In canon, Oikawa is a WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds whose desire to enter the Digital World lets him get possessed by Myotismon and subsequently, any heinous acts done in the anime is blamed to him. But in the fic however, Oikawa is a PsychopathicManchild who is incredibly addicted to his experiences as a [[spoiler: Digidestined]] in the Digital World so much that he is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve such goals. This includes [[spoiler: arranging the death of two of his own Digidestined members as an accident, creating a Digi Armor, fake Digivices & turned Ken into the Digimon Emperor, and kills Ken without a second thought when he feels that he has outlived his usefulness]].

** Alvin the Treacherous is more in line with his book counterpart than his incarnation in ''[[WesternAnimation/DragonsRidersOfBerk Dragons: Riders of Berk]]''. * ''Fanfic/TheNewAdventuresOfInvaderZim'' does this with Gaz. While she was always [[JerkAss snarky, cruel, and mean-spirited]] in canon, both the show and the comics (more the latter) did occasionally show a lighter side and an ability to care for Dib. Here, she openly identifies as a [[MisanthropeSupreme misanthrope]], who doesn't care what happens to Dib or the world. And at the climax of Season 1, she crosses the MoralEventHorizon by means of [[spoiler: telling Zim about Dib and his friends' plan to go after [[LostSuperweapon Project Domination]]]] purely out of spite.

* ''Fanfic/BreakingTheDeal''[='=]s version of Mephisto is an odd example in the sense that he isn't any worse than he is in canon, but it's his petty and heavily mocked destruction of Peter Parker and Mary Jane's marriage that has a lot more evil intent behind it. In the infamous ''One More Day'' storyline, the only real justification he had to do it was to preserve the status quo that Marvel's higher-ups preferred. But in this fic, he did it so Peter and MJ's future Sorcerer Supreme daughter couldn't be born, and thus wouldn't be able to stop him from taking over the multiverse and twisting it to his liking.
** It became HilariousInHindsight because, during the run of Nick Spencer, we discover that was the reason why One more day happened: he did it so Peter and MJ's future daughter (who isn't seen to be the Sorcerer Supreme but the principle is still the same), couldn't be born, and thus wouldn't be able to stop him from taking over the world.

* ''Fanfic/{{Pandemic}}'' does this with Sunset Shimmer. In ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyEquestriaGirls1'', she was Celestia's megalomaniac former student, who while bad, behaved like a teenage AlphaBitch for much of the movie, but turned over a new leaf. In this story, [[spoiler: Sunset is a MadScientist who, [[AffablyEvil while nicer]] than her canon self [[WellIntentionedExtremist and with more noble goals]], is planning to forcibly transform ''billions of humans beings'' into ponies through biological warfare. She's gone from Queen Bee to trying to wipe out an entire species]].
* Trixie gets hit ''hard'' with this in ''[[https://www.fimfiction.net/story/35169/the-piano-man The Piano Man]]''. While in canon she was mainly an egotistical braggart, in this story, she is an abusive, vicious psychopath who spends the story enslaving and torturing the human protagonist, all so he can play the piano for her shows. [[spoiler: She later tries to murder the protagonist to avoid imprisonment. This is fortunately subverted with the Mane cast, who were unaware that Trixie was enslaving and mistreating a sentient creature, and help him out when they discover the conditions he lived under]].

* ''Fanfic/PrincessTrixieSparkle'' does this with Trixie, who in the show was (not counting when she was under the influences of The Alicorn Amulet) an egotistical JerkAss at worst, and even then outside of that aforementioned incident, she arguably had not done anything morally wrong. In this story, she is a [[ManipulativeBastard manipulative bitch]] who tricks Twilight into letting her steal her identity, frames her and her friends, and [[spoiler: she has Twilight locked in the dungeon and sadistically gloats that she will be trapped in there alone for the rest of her life.]] Granted, [[spoiler:she is being influenced by the ''[[TheManBehindTheMan true]]'' BigBad and does make a HeelFaceTurn by the end, but even so, she went above and beyond what she was actually supposed to do and it understandably takes ''awhile'' before anyone is ready to forgive her.]]

** Ash's father was a non-entity in the anime, other than the light novel, which states that he left his family due to the pressures of Pokémon training. Here, he's all but outright stated to be a violent criminal who fathered dozens of illegitimate children and then abandoned them. [[spoiler: Then comes the reveal in [[WhamEpisode Chapter 34]], it turns out he's the [[BigBad Bloodline King.]]]]

* Salem in ''Fanfic/RubyAndNora'' isn't the AffablyEvil BenevolentBoss she is in canon, instead she's a [[EvilIsPetty petty]], [[{{Sadist}} sadistic]] [[PsychopathicManchild child]] in the body of a HumanoidAbomination.

* ''Fanfic/MyFathersSon'': Still being young and learning the Game, Renly Baratheon gets pushed into taking hostile actions against Elia and Lyanna by [[spoiler: attacking Starfall]] out of lust for [[spoiler: Jon Connington]].

** Diesel is depicted in the "Duck and the Diesel Engine" trilogy as making up lies about the steam engines in order to get them sent away to sheds on the mainland where they would certainly be scrapped. And when he was found out, he fully intended to [[spoiler: run over and kill The Fat Controller and make it look like an accident so a more "progressive" controller could take over, before the police sting sprang the trap.]]

* ''Fanfic/RandomDramaSeries'': [[spoiler: Katie]] slowly becomes much more antagonistic as the season progresses, to the point where she becomes the main antagonist.

* ''Fanfic/DirtySympathy'' does this to several characters: Daryan Cresend ([[spoiler:already a DirtyCop]]) into committing DomesticAbuse and abuses Klavier and constantly makes death threats. Kristoph Gavin ([[spoiler: an AmoralAttorney and poisoner]]) into a BadBoss who traps Apollo into AllTakeAndNoGive relationship and abuses him because Apollo has no one else to turn to. Machi's portrayal as an [[ChildrenAreInnocent innocent child]], albeit an accomplice to drug smuggling, is done away with, presenting him as [[FaceOfAnAngelMindOfADemon angelic-looking, disturbed]] smuggler [[spoiler: and he is actually guilty of killing [=LeTouse=]]]. Lamiroir is a cold-blooded MamaBear, who thought nothing of framing someone and threatening someone with death to protect Machi. And the story's leads, Klavier and Apollo become [[VillainProtagonist Villain Protagonists]] (albeit sympathetic ones).

* Discussed in the ''Scooby Doo'' fic ''Fanfic/OldMeetsNew''. The Coolsville Mystery Inc know Scrappy as a well-meaning puppy who simply got bored of Scooby and went to live with his other uncle Yabba-Doo. Crystal Cove's Velma [[NoodleIncident won't talk about Scrappy]] but says he did some horrible things that shouldn't be discussed.

* In the upcoming ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog'' FanFilm, ''[[https://www.miitoons.com/sonic-villains/ Sonic Villains]]'', Sara from ''Anime/SonicTheHedgehogTheMovie'' is shown to be one of the villains! When asked about this, [[https://www.miitoons.com/sonic-villains/villains-by-universe/sara-the-catgirl/ her profile]] suggests she became a villain for a surprising reason.
* Anu is supposed to be the BigGood in the ''VideoGame/{{Diablo}}'' universe. But, in the [[https://videogameshrines.weebly.com/introduction3.html Blizzard shrines]] of the [[https://videogameshrines.weebly.com/ Video Game Shrines]], we eventually find that Anu is actually [[BigBad the exact opposite]]; furthermore, his true name is [[spoiler: Anus]].

* In ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9306030/1/The-Witch-of-Oz The Witch of Oz]]'', a genderbend fanfic of ''Literature/TheWonderfulWizardOfOz'', [[spoiler: the titular character Ozia is secretly evil, and lied to everyone about [[AdaptationalHeroism Elphias]] being a Wicked Wizard. Eventually, the citizens of Oz learn the truth.]]
