** Rey, first introduced in ''Film/TheForceAwakens'', and TheHero of the Sequel Trilogy is a self-sufficient scavenger-turned-Jedi who is ''extremely'' strong in the Force and pretty much the galaxy's last hope against the First Order and Kylo Ren. Notably, she seems to have learned all of her skill in combat ''by herself'', receiving no formal training other than a brief visit to Master Luke on Ahch-To. Growing up on [[ScavengerWorld Jakku]] means one needs to learn to take care of themselves after all.

*** Yukio introduces herself in a bar brawl and proves competent enough to protect Logan. She later helps him fight Viper.
*** Mariko is proficient in softhanded martial arts and an excellent knife-thrower, helping to [[spoiler:kill Silver Samurai]].
** ''Film/XMenDaysOfFuturePast'':
*** Blink's powers make her extremely effective in fighting the Sentinels, both in taking them out herself and assisting the others in fighting them.
*** Mystique is the only mutant back in the past who's been doing ''anything'' for the last few years (Magneto has been incarcerated inside the Pentagon for a decade, and Xavier's been moping around the house since the start of UsefulNotes/TheVietnamWar). Even when the plot takes off, she's still the most active character.
** ''Film/XMenApocalypse'':
*** Mystique knocks out a few guys who are bigger than her in East Berlin. She later becomes the battle commander of the X-Men.
*** Jean Grey [[spoiler:unleashes the full power of the Phoenix and obliterates Apocalypse, who can only [[{{Pun}} marvel]] at her power]].
*** An unarmed Agent Moira [=MacTaggert=], who is covered in a niqab that hinders her movements somewhat, is able to disarm a man larger than she is and render him unconscious.
** She might be the smallest ActionGirl in the whole film series but ComicBook/{{X 23}} from ''Film/{{Logan}}'' is very much a LittleMissBadass proving to be just as savage as her clone papa Wolverine. She even kills Logan's EvilCounterpart [[spoiler: X-24]] at the end.

* ''Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse'':
** Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff. She may not have any powers, but she's one of the biggest badasses in the entire franchise.
** Sif of ''Film/{{Thor}}'' is a notable example, as she became a skilled, prominent female warrior in a patriarchal society.

** ''Film/IronMan3'':
*** Tony assembles the Mark 42 around Pepper in one scene, which she then uses to save Tony. [[spoiler:Pepper also gets injected with Extremis later, allowing her to save Tony from the similarly super-powered Killian.]]
*** The female Extremis soldiers are {{Dark Action Girl}}s.
** From the ''Film/{{Guardians of the Galaxy|2014}}'' films, Gamora and Nebula, adopted daughters of Thanos who were raised and trained as assassins.
** From ''Film/{{Doctor Strange|2016}}'': The Ancient One, as well as Tina Minoru and the female Zealots.
** ''Film/{{Black Panther|2018}}'' gives us Okoye, the commander of the [[AmazonBrigade Dora Milaje]], and Nakia, an exceptional Wakandan spy. Even T'Challa's little sister Shuri, whose primary aptitude is in designing Wakanda's incredible technology, proves herself capable of combat in the film's climactic battle.
** None of the aforementioned women can hold a candle to Carol Danvers, the eponymous ''Film/{{Captain Marvel|2019}}''. She is touted as the most powerful character in the entire MCU, even more powerful than ''Thanos''.

* ''Franchise/DCExtendedUniverse'':
** [[ComicBook/WonderWoman Diana of Themyscira/Wonder Woman]] (Creator/GalGadot), of course. She's introduced in ''Film/BatmanVSupermanDawnOfJustice'', where her major contribution to the film is to jump in during the climactic fight scene against the monster Doomsday where she holds her own at least as well as ComicBook/{{Superman}}. Later on, she's one of the Film/{{Justice|League 2017}} [[Film/ZackSnydersJusticeLeague League]]'s best fighters.
*** Her [[Film/WonderWoman2017 first solo movie]] introduces the rest of the Amazons, a literal AmazonBrigade of Action Girls, including her mother, Hippolyta and her aunt, Antiope. They also appear in both versions of ''Justice League''. The latter films also have the goddess Artemis during the battle in ancient times against the armies of the New Gods, in which she shoots divine arrows that are powerful enough to down ''spaceships''. She also sees a fait bit of action in ''Film/WonderWoman1984'', of course.
** In ''Film/{{Suicide Squad|2016}}'', there's Katana wielding her eponymous weapon and Comicbook/HarleyQuinn (although Harley [[HeelFaceRevolvingDoor blurs the line]] between this and DarkActionGirl) using a [[BatterUp baseball bat]] and a [[HandCannon big revolver]].
** ''Film/{{Aquaman|2018}}'' has Mera, a LadyOfWar, who kicks butt and [[MakingASplash controls water]]. She's somewhat DemotedToExtra in ''Film/AquamanAndTheLostKingdom'' but still delivers.
** ''[[Film/Shazam2019 SHAZAM!]]'' and ''Film/ShazamFuryOfTheGods'' have Mary and Darla, once Billy shares the power of SHAZAM with them.
** ''Film/{{Birds of Prey|2020}}'' introduces the titular AmazonBrigade. In addition to Harley Quinn, it features asskickers Comicbook/BlackCanary and the Huntress. Subverted with [[Comicbook/{{Batgirl}} Cassandra Cain]] however, as [[InNameOnly unlike the comics]], she's just a teenager who doesn't do any fighting.
** ''Film/{{The Flash|2023}}'' has Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, played by Creator/SashaCalle. She has the same powerset as Superman as established in ''Film/ManOfSteel'', although she's considerably less experienced.

** Jessica shows shades of this later into the film, defending herself ably with a golf club, kicking and using a pair of scissors on zombies.

* ''Film/BoyEatsGirl'': Jessica shows shades of this later into the film, defending herself ably with a golf club, kicking and using a pair of scissors on zombies.

* ''Film/CrimesOfTheFuture2022'': Berst and Dani are young women who masquerade as [[WrenchWench technicians]]. It turns out they're really both assassins, who kill their targets with [[ThisIsADrill power drills]].
* ''Film/CutToTheChase'': Nola immediately shows she's one by deftly fighting off Max when he tries to stop her, thinking he's been sent after her by the Man. [[spoiler:It turns out she's a hitwoman who worked for the Man, and is very capable.]]

* ''Film/Ghosted2023'': Sadie is a highly competent CIA covert agent who shows her skills using martial arts and guns, very much outmatching Cole (at first especially).

** ''Film/MissionImpossibleDeadReckoningPartOne'': Grace (Creator/HayleyAtwell) proves herself very capable even if she's only a thief by trade. Paris, meanwhile, is of the DarkActionGirl variety, being an unhinged driver and wielding a sword in the UsefulNotes/{{Venice}} sequence.

* Imperator Furiosa from ''Film/MadMaxFuryRoad''. Even in a series where being an Action Girl is practically a survival requirement, she's still at the top of the pile. She's a BadassDriver who leads several of Immortan Joe's Wives to keep them out of a constant life of sex slavery. She's also an incredibly good shot and physical fighter, even handing Max his ass several times. A number of critics and fans have begun to call her this generation's Ellen Ripley.

!!Franchises and creators with large bodies of Action Girl work:

* ''Film/{{Willow}}'': Sorsha, although she starts off as a DarkActionGirl before her HeelFaceTurn. She's a skilled swordswoman who defeats several soldiers in hand to hand combat. Throughout the film she also carries a bow along with a quiver on her back, but never uses them in the film. However it obviously indicates that she's an archer too.
