- Since we have a list of bands in the Music section of the wiki, do we want to add a "Notable Bands Appearing in this Series" to the game's page, specifically for bands who have their own tropes pages?
- Insanity Prelude: Sounds like a good idea. I'll add it.
- Edit: Actually, that'd be a pretty long list. I'm not so sure.
- Just going by the back cover we have ACDC, AFI, Beastie Boys, Beck, Blondie, Bon Jovi, Cheap Trick, Disturbed, Fleetwood Mac, Foo Fighters, Grateful Dead, The Guess Who, Guns N Roses, Linkin Park, Megadeth, Metallica, Nirvana, The Offspring, Paramore, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rush, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Who, and others. Then there's the download content. That could take a while.
- Just list the bands that we actually have articles on. I edited the above post just to point out how prominent these bands are among the tropers (probably a connection there.)

Insanity Prelude: The octave not mattering is probably to account for players with a lower/higher range than the actual singer. I still can't sing along with most of the female-fronted songs, though, because I unconsciously try to match their pitch and sound horrible. XD I guess I have a low singing voice for a woman. (Really, I'm a bad singer, period.)
- Guitar Hero is much worse with this. If you duck into training mode the singer from Vagiant will teach you that you can sing at a lower octave and the song will pick up a high low octave, like Solid Snake trying to sing, or a low high octave like Joanna Jett or Hayley Williams. Basically, if your voice is lower the game will still pick up high and low octaves, it will simply adjust to the tone of your voice.
This troper KNOWS a guy who got employed at Harmonix right out of college and completely brushed over the whole 2008-09 recession because he was at the right place at the right time! There's gotta be some kind of trope for this!
kitsunezeta: I know people are going to wonder about the subpoint on the Rock Band Network. here's the very specifics of what you have to do to even be able to make USE of the dev stuff:
- You must have an X Box 360. Sorry, PS 3 users, but you're outta luck on this end.
- You must be part of the closed beta. *
- You must pay a separate subscription fee to Microsoft for the dev-enabled account.
- You must have the current patch (which isn't a big deal)
- You must have a means to have your 360 and PC see each other. *
The rest of the stuff is legal fine print that amounts to "you agree not to create illegal tracks and attempt to submit them, yatta yatta yatta." in short: no, random people cannot put any songs they want into Rock Band 2.
Kalle: So at the risk of sparking an Internet Backdraft, has Rock Band Japan happened yet, or has it fallen into the realms of Vaporware?
