Daikiwixep: Whoever deleted Big in Japan, please here me out: Kirby is MASSIVE in Japan. There is so much merchandise. What we have in America is a fraction of what Japan has. Hey, Kirby 64 seems to be heavily referenced in Japan; you barely hear about it in the US nowadays. Also, how many doujinshis about Kirby have you read in the US? Probably none. This series is Pikachu-popular in Japan. I seriously say that this trope remains, and if you have a problem, please post here about it.

Diddgery: I have no comment either way about Kirby being big in Japan, but... Kirby 64, barely heard about in the US? Have you ever been to a Kirby fansite? Kirby 64 is easily one of the most popular games in the series- mainly due to it being released around the same time that Super Smash Bros first came out for the N64, which served as an introduction for many to the Kirby series. From what I have seen, only Kirby Super Star exceeds 64's popularity.

Daikiwixep: I actually came here to remove Big in Japan due to me misunderstanding the trope's meaning (my apologies), although someone already removed it (my thanks). Anyway, the popularity of Kirby 64 in the US is not matched by the popularity in Japan at all. If you read my first post, do you see any of that merchandise/manga/etc. in the US? Maybe I visit different forums than you, though. We really need more Kirby merchandise outside Japan.

Raekuul Just so that there is no confusion in the future: Big in Japan refers to a work being a lot more popular outside of its origin country, not about it actually being big in Japan. Although it does help.

WVI: Attention: Whoever added Marx under Yandere: Please read the trope description next time, so I don't have to use as many colons.

Jordan: Is it just me or does Meta Knight in the most recent Smash Bros. game look remarkably like "Zero" of Code Geass?

Servitor_2152: Okay, so that picture of monster-Kirby? Creepy as hell. Don't get me wrong, I like it (albeit maybe not so much when I'm browsing at 3:00 in the morning and already jumping at shadows), but it's so antithetical to what the Kirby games actually are that I don't think it should be the page picture. Take that shit to Nightmare Fuel.

Raekuul Sure, Kirby has mega-manning, but the most effective weapon he will ever have, short of the Plot Sword for the game, is his power to shoot things out of his mouth. Try doing a no-abilities run of Kirby Super Star or KSS Ultra - you'll see what I'm talking about. Really, unless Squeak Squad does it too, the only game where Copy Abilities are more effective at killing bosses than the ol' Suck and Shoot is Amazing Mirror.
