The Duel To Become Chief launched as You Kill It, You Bought It: From YKTTW

Working Title: I\'d Kill For It: From YKTTW

Air Of Mystery: Where is that image from?

ccoa: Removed this part of the Incarnations of Immortality example:

"The office of Satan can pass this way as well, if the person who killed Satan takes up his sword in a short amount of time; otherwise, it passes to the most evil person on Earth. Most of the sixth book in the series deals with this, as the current Satan is a mostly-good former priest who fell from grace due to a few vices, who only takes up the office so that somebody worse won't get it."

The most evil person on Earth gets the title of Incarnation of Evil when the previous office-holder dies, unless he rejects it, period. The fact that this was the same person that killed him in the books was more or less coincidence.

Also removed:

" In the PS2 game Phantom Brave, cute little Marona has the power to summon the spirits of any species she or her undead horde kill enough of. Most adorable necromancer ever."

Since this is not an example of this trope - Marona is not taking the place, position, or powers of the creatures she kills.

And finally removed the duplicate Sluggy Freelance examples.

Scud East: Removed the following text from "Real Life" —

  • More often than not, the throne of the Roman empire changed hands in this manner. (Not a law, just dirty politics.)
    • There are many real life examples of coups and hostile takeovers, but they really only fit this trope is it's actually intended to work that way. Rome wasn't.

—for the reason given on the second line.

  • No, no it's not. There is nothing in the Santa Clause that says anything about killing the current Santa Claus.

Lale: Um, that's the very thing that sets the first movie's plot in motion — whoever kills or incapacitates the current Santa or is at least responsible for his death or incapacitation must take up the job.
