Working Title: Most Tropers Are Young Nerds: From YKTTW

Koveras: This is a dump of my current database I'm using to evaluate the list (status 23.03.08). Do NOT add your replies here, this list is created solely for controlling purposes and as a backup for the primary one on the main page.

Catch The Sun: Hey, I like it. Yours are, at least, in alphabetical order. The same can't be said for the actual page, though.

Don Quigleone: One Question, what happens in a years time? will the whole thing be updated or what....

Koveras: Right now, I keep updating it every few days or so. I dunno how long my enthusiasm will last, however... Statistically, however, once we pass the 100 entries limit, the mean values shouldn't change much anymore.

Shazzbaa: Can I add the difference between nerd, dork, and geek to this page's description? This has been my favourite definition, and the one that fits the best:
  • Nerd: interested in learning, academia, being smart in general
  • Geek: extremely knowledgeable about a certain interest, particularly a difficult (programming) or obscure (Dungeons And Dragons) one.
  • Dork: awkward social skills.

Or is that taking this too close to Serious Business?

Koveras: Sure, go ahead. That'd be actually very helpful, since some contributors apparently have some trouble differentiating between the three. And that may well be the best definition I've ever seen, too. PS: Oh, and this IS Serious Business for us nerds. Be sure to mention this in the definition, too. ;)

Idle Dandy: This is totally depressing. I feel like I'm about 100 years old.
Sean Tucker: Why do we seem to attract so many gay people and furries? Maybe it's just a couple of really vocal ones in each, but I see it come up in Troper Tales or examples all the time.
Nate The Great: Could we add some sort of tool to automate the age tally? We really don't want everybody to update their age every year, right? Especially 'cause a lot of people will forget. Just a little box to add the month and year you were born. Exact birthdays aren't required.
1angelette: Maybe we could try adding some other demographics, like race or average income. Although then it would get tedious.... and possibly racist... *suddenly feels guilty*

Shrikesnest: Nothing is more awesomely indicative of modern racial attitudes than this. Collecting demographic data about something is racist now. Just pure information. What if we're mostly white!? Oh no!

{Erock}}: Holy shit I feel awkward putting myself as as a popular kid. Like, I do geeky things like TV Tropers, but I'm definitely not a nerd, geek or dork.
Ainu Laire: Maybe it's just me, but... wouldn't it be nice if we could get this in alphabetical order? With folders? Why the bold directions at the top to simply keep on adding at the bottom? It could look all nice and organized like the Contributors page. I'd do it myself, but the bold directions were rather intimidating.

Red Wren: I feel the same way... Does anyone happen to know who put the bold directions there? I understand making new entries separate (so they could be worked into the equation), but it seems like it would make more sense to put two sections, one for included and one for not yet included, both alphabetized. Am I missing something...?

Citizen: Regarding the above concerns over outdated ages, what about just indicating birthyear instead of or in addition to age? Like "Troper (29 [1981]/m/geek)". For all existing entries, we could assume age correct as of 2009 (unless otherwise indicated by history or the above list) and figure out a birthyear from there, with question marks to indicate the guesswork: ""Troper (29 [?1981?]/m/geek)". But I don't care enough about this to do anything myself.
