Working Title: Sophisticated Like Hell: From YKTTW
Antheia: Cut:
- Done in reverse when discussing the disclaimer on Assassins Creed. The screen: "[Yahtzee] invites religious extremists to suck out his farts and die." Yahtzee: "...who really loves religious extremists a big huggy bunch."
...as that's not Sophisticated as Hell, just an intentional self-contradiction.
George TSLC: It having been apparently established that "adult" language is acceptable in this wiki where appropriate and/or correctly quoting: What the h*ck does n***rs disguise?
Qube: Recommend renaming the trope to "Sophisticated as Fuck." While I have no basis for this (out of laziness more than anything,) but the word "fuck" seems to show up more than "hell." Or maybe they could be split up? Or sub-troped! Just a suggestion...
Wascally Wabbit: I support this recommendation as Sophisticated as Hell sounds like it should be describing the "a man of wealth and taste" version of Satan
Document N: Meh. I like "hell".
Fawriel: If you really want to, you can make Sophisticated As Fuck a redirect. Completely renaming the trope would be too much unnecessary work and would quite possibly offend people. And there's not enough basis for splitting.
Looney Toons: Snipped this example as not being quite what this trope is talking about:
- Not too long ago, a judge in Michigan was confronted by a defendant who pled the court with the words "let it be," in reference to the Beatles song. In response, the judge's ruling incorporated every Beatles title he could think of and reasonably work into the document.
- One of the ultimate usages of this trope is another XKCD strip.
- Really? I'd say the xkcd was a textbook example, and the OHINY wasn't it at all. Perhaps this trope does not mean what you think it means.
