  • ... When Marcus dies a virgin, Ivanova is overcome with guilt that she never let him sleep with her, even though it is clear that what he wanted was her love, not sex.

Ivanova felt guilt because A) Marcus literally gave up his life for her and B) She'd just clued into - and started to return - his feelings.

  • What about sex as a rite of passage for women? It seems to be pretty commonplace in my college; I overheard my roommates discussing a girl in our hall who was a virgin, and they were surprised that she hadn't yet "managed" to lose her virginity in high school. Is this normal, or are my roommates the weird ones? I always thought that college is too early, personally....
