Working Title: Seven Dirty Words: From YKTTW

Triterope: OK profanity fans, here's my first attempt. I tried not to make it a "history of obscenity in America" page, but some context was necessary. Feel free to improve upon it.

Spider: My curiosity trumps my fear of looking like an idiot.... Can someone explain the innuendo in the Spongebob Squarepants example at the top of the list? Is Mrs. Krabs supposed to be the jalopy in which Old Man Jenkins finds himself? Because I think that's stretching things a bit.

  • The point is that in that instance, the horn sound was not covering her swearing, but came from an actual car driving by. Of course this means the characters in the show hear the same "censor" sounds as the audience does, which adds to the humor by not making any sense at all.

Queen of Dorkness: I don't get cable, so I'm not sure how acceptable the word "fuck" is there, but on the DVD release of Dead Like Me (the only time I got to watch the show, thanks to aforementioned lack of cable and an erratic schedule) it's said a few times. Was that censored from the broadcast, or left as is?
