Is there a reason for removing these two examples? Just wondering. I'm not familiar with The Ruins so I can't comment on that.
- The horror novel The Ruins by Scott Smith starts out with a group of twenty-somethings on vacation at the beach who decide to explore some old ruins inland. Things get much worse. In The Movie, (spoiler)all but one of them die thanks to a sadistic, man-eating vine, and the survivor at the end is heavily implied to be an unknowing vector for it to spread. In the book, (spoiler)they all die.
- Even lighthearted adventure movies run into the Inevitable Waterfall which inevitably crashes their boat.
blackcat: Does the Riverworld series by Phillip Jose Farmer fit? I can make a case for it, but then again...
- berr: Sure, make a case for it. I'm unfamiliar with the series, So...Yeah.
