What about a lot of the Disney animated films. The setting usually appears to take place in the past, but a modern attitude and modern language frequently seems to be used. Like, for example. The Little Mermaid and the sequel.
Reply: You're confusing this with Anachronism Stew. Disney films aren't set in a retro modern-day world, they're set in The Theme Park Version of the past.
Jordan: Would Reefer Madness the musical count?- it's supposed to be set in the 1930s but very much fits the stereotype of the 1950s.
Removed:
- Frequently used when adapting older plays, especially Shakespeare. This troper has seen Much Ado About Nothing set just after WWII, for example.
Because that's Setting Update.

- Used in Gattaca, though that film is 20 Minutes into the Future and not an Alternate Universe.
It just doesn't seem to fit the criteria very well.
