Fast Eddie: Evidently, this one needs discussion ...
- The Meldrews from One Foot In The Grave arguably fall into this, although that couple had many Pet the Dog moments.
- I'd argue that they genuinely actually do indeed love each other, not just Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other. Given that in the last episode it is implied that Margaret may have killed the woman who she discovered was Victor's Hit-And-Run killer, and it's made pretty obvious she at least considers it which is beyond the usual Pet the Dog scenario.
Gracie Lizzie (she who did the Justifying Edit): Personally I always got the impression there was a lot of genuine affection between the two. Especially when you take the latter fact in case.

- This troper still can't believe that Yancha got screwed over for a much more 1-dimensional character...
- Firstly, Vegeta is a very complex character. Secondly, technically Vegeta was already in the group, let alone the story. This was just one of Toriyama's Wham Episodes after he got a storyline featuring a Future Badass Super Saiyan, whose Apocalypse How explained why he came back in time.
- This troper read somewhere that Toriyama originally put Bulma and Vegeta together because he thought that no one would like it and he could get out of Dragonball sooner. However, it backfired and the fans (overall) loved the pairing.
- lol that guy really did wanted to stop doing DBZ. Though making a saiyan mate is a really stupid idea if you wanted to turn fans off.
- Not really. Word of God has it that Toriyama did that because he needed two charas to be Trunks's parents, so he wouldn't have to introduce more Saiyans aside of him in the story. Still done rather poorly, IMHO.
