Camacan: I wonder if this trope is more convenient for writers than real? That is, there are cases where dental evidence has been used, but consider: for the police to identify a victim they would have to pull the dental records of every single person in the area — having determined the area they need to include/exclude. Imagine a victim found in London: there could be 100,000 people within a reasonable range of the crime scene.
