Calophi: I wanted to note that I included Yuuji from Shakugan No Shana even though he died before episode one. This is because, as Flame Haze's are territorial and it's been noted that Shana was in the city for a while, she is the person most likely to have converted Yuuji into a torch, even though she didn't realize it at the time.

Citizen: I disagree, that's far too speculative. Those demon-guys consume humans in mass, and Flame Hazes aren't territorial, are they? Moving on, I wonder if a mention could be given to Tsukihime; the hero was the one who killed someone, that someone resurrected in the first episode (because undead), and then the series focused on them.

Calophi: Flame Hazes are very territorial. They mention this a few times especially in the beginning of the series, when the blond Flame Haze comes into town and Shana senses her.

Citizen: Wrong sense of territorial. I mean is, Flame Hazes roam around a lot, they just don't like other Hazes moving in on their temporary territory. Shana specifically couldn't have been around long because the doll-master had been setting up his grand plan for the city and was surprised by Shana's interference in the first ep.

Calophi: I can agree with that. Moving on, I don't remember enough of Tsukihime to be able to agree or disagree with that. Would Kashimashi Girl Meets Girl count, since Hazumu died in front of (because of XD) aliens and was resurrected, even though she has no immortality or powers? And, also an iffy series is Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan.

Citizen: I might call Dokuro an inversion, or exaggeration, since it happens every episode. Kashimashi is a possibility, not sure...

Medinoc: I have seen a scene in Beastmaster in which Dar had been cut in pieces and is resurrected by The Demon Curupira, but I didn't see the beginning and cannot tell if it was the first episode or not...

bluepenguin: Removed the Keys to the Kingdom example, since Arthur doesn't actually die. He is given a magical item shortly before having an asthma attack that would have killed him if he hadn't had the magical item, but he does have it, so he survives. Well, it's all a bit more complicated than that, but I really don't think it counts unless the character actually dies.
