Filby: Do Order Of The Stick or Goblins—comics that explicitly reference Dungeons And Dragons but take place in original settings—count as Fan Web Comics?
The Recreator: Not really. These comics are closer to works of parody than fan comics, especially in that they avoid explicitly defining the terms and names they use. "Spot check" is not a trademarked term, for instance, but the definition of "Spot check" in D&D is copyrighted material.
There's also the fact that Order Of The Stick has spawned a number of fan comics itself (including my own) to consider.
