Ununnilium: I don't think the Kirby stuff counts. It's very of its time, but not based on a specific fad.

arromdee: Karate Kid was created in 1966. The fad that affected Karate Kid was in the 1970's; he was already an established character by then (though he did get spun off into his own comic, and drawn to look more like Bruce Lee, because of the fad).

Loser Takes All: Karate Kid was inspired by the karate fad of the 1950s and 60s in America that started after the Korean War. He was updated to be more like Bruce Lee during the kung fu movie fad of the 1970s.


I think Soundwave is an example of Fridge Brilliance.. they had trouble updating his musical item status, so they made him a SATELLITE. as in Satellite Radio?

Sabre Justice: Damn. On another note, got any recent examples of these? I have a fondness for personified fads.
