Ununnilium: Did this originate in Doom? That's where I first saw it.
Nirual: Probably. I can't think of any game earlier than the original Doom using them.

Lots42 —- San Andreas has exploding barrels? Granted, I haven't finished it but I do not recall a one. GTA: Vice City has ton loads of exploding barrels. Also, the cars explode when hit anywhere with enough bullets. Great way to frag bad guys.
