Working Title: Dub Text: From YKTTW
What Naruto dub are you watching? I distinctly remember the bit with the tripping and the accidental kiss showing up on the dubbed version that cartoon network aired.
Fly: I don't get the Die Hard example at all.
- Narvi: See, what's happening is that they took out all the German names, because it's airing in Germany, right? But since they can't dub new names over all of it without it looking silly, they had the protagonist add that he's going to call them by their original names off screen, for no particular reason, so as to explain why they're being called German names.
You know, I'm just curious about the Tokyo Mew Mew example, because I never got to watch the dub... IIRC, in the original, the context for the scene where Minto imagines that random bishie was that the girls were trying to guess what Retasu's supposed new boyfriend might be like. Now, I assume that the dub scene had a different dialogue, because in this context having Minto thinking about Zakuro would've made no sense — they were talking specifically about Retasu's boyfriend, a guy, not about personal love interests (although the images were apparently based on their personal opinions, because Ichigo's version is clearly Aoyama Masaya ^_^;;); whatever kind of affection Minto might have for Zakuro, she wasn't supposed to be so crazy as to be unable to think of anyone but her, even when the conversation is about a particular guy. Question: what was the dub version of this scene talking about?
