Vampire Buddha: Removed this non-fitting example (01:09 GMT, 26/6/2009)

*Averted/subverted in Code Geass when Charles and Lady Marianne try to do this and Lelouch proves to be the Xanatos Gilligan.

Count Dorku: Rewrote the Gargoyles example, because...well...the spelling hurt and the regular failure to capitalise names was even more painful.

Jordan: Regarind Code Geass, "Lelouch geasses God" count as an example? I think it was more like the entity agreeing to act the way the Magnificient Bastard wanted, but the Memetic Mutation shows how fans saw it as an example.

Lale: Would this include people who manage to scam the resident Manipulative Bastard/some character deemed un-scammable? For example, Lyra manages to trick the usurper king of the Armored Bears in Northern Lights when it's been established that no one can trick an Armored Bear, and Mai of Avatar The Last Airbender surprises the all-knowing "people person" Azula who has never before "miscalculated."

Or would this be a different trope like Did You Just Scam Xanatos?

Cambdoranononononono: Removing Matorok from Eternal Darkness. Apart from the general "sort of example" problem, "dying Eldrich Abomination, which was attacked because it was so powerful, beats other Eldrich Abominations" doesn't really cover the kind of discrepancy. The other Ancients even note that they don't fully understand its power and are cautious around it long after it was supposed to have been neutralized.
