Working Title: rename Cool Ship: From YKTTW
Peteman: In a desperate attempt to satisfy my nerd-chops and delete some natter, here's the low down:
- I believe its class is Star Dreadnaught, or something like that.
- Super Star Destroyer, actually. Dreadnought class ships are a lot smaller, though still cool because they can run on basically no crew at all.
The new Starships of the Galaxy cleared things up: Super Star Destroyers are a type of star dreadnought (as opposed to a star cruiser). The ships that are called Dreadnoughts are an outdated type of vessel, and size for size, they are the least efficient ships in terms of crew still in service. Their inefficiency was actually a plot point in the Heir to the Empire trilogy, where attempts to make them more efficient ended disastrously. Meanwhile, the Rebels retrofitted captured Dreadnoughts to be more efficient, but the process made them very different from their original specs.
