Ununnilium: Pulled out...

The most horrific and extreme form of Coitus Uninterruptus is the gang rape, whereby a villain or group of villains will assault a character in the presence of witnesses who may or may not participate. (If one of these witnesses happens to be a relative or a significant other of the victim, then you know the villain or villains are absolute sadistic scum and will — one should hope — receive a thorough karmic drubbing by the end of the story.)

...because that seems to be getting into another trope entirely.

Amethyst: I don't think we have a trope which covers that (unsurprisingly, since it's not something most people like to talk about.)

Seth: I think most people involved in the debacle around the female on male rape page would understand this. We are not about censorship, rape is mentioned in specific examples and series entries all over the wiki - but i don't think we should ever have a page about rape used as a narrative device. It would provoke a S' Storm we do not want to deal with. In fact the guy who was obsessed with rape and wrote like three entries on it tried to make an entry of rape itself and i actively stopped him (Not to mention the type of editors who would be brought to the site through a search string like that - like he was) i mean look at how much the entry he did make upset some people.

Ununnilium: Up in the discussion pages! Is it a Troll? Is it a Sock Puppet? No! It's Contrary Opinion Man!

I disagree. I think rape, as a narrative device, is something we should have a page about. It certainly comes up enough, especially in recent years. And we're all adults here, after all! (Except you, Pubescent Steve.) We can do this with taste and restraint, and if necessary, heavy editing.

Fast Eddie: I'd agree that it is possible to tastefully address the subject of rape as a trope. We've spoken of murder, assault, torture and other violent crimes. No reason why this particular violent crime should be singled out. We have also spoken of incest and age-inappropriate sexual issues. A lot of story conflict comes from crimes. One thing for sure, if we ignore rape as a trope, it isn't going to go away.

Andrew: We need to clean up this page. There are too many examples that are just "People having sex in public places or as others look on" and not enough that actually exemplify the trope.
  • Also, personal anecdotes should be moved to the Troper Tales page.
