All Monks Know Kung Fu launched as All Monks Know Kung Fu Discussion: From YKTTW

From YKTTW Working Title: All Monks Know Kung Fu

The Ninth Doctor: "Shows up in the werewolf episode of Doctor Who, for some reason. They even get orange robes under their frocks! It possibly had to be Executive Meddling since the ninja thing really didn't come up except in The Teaser." These, however, were no longer Christian Monks, they had instead begun worshiping the Werewolf/Alien. When I saw Tooth & Claw I thought it was clear that the marshal arts and the orange robes were supposed to further drive home the fact that these were not your average monks- especially since the fact that they know martial arts is a surprise to the people they attack.

Satanic Hamster: Just a comment about this entry:

  • And many knights eventually retired to monasteries, becoming actual monks. Further, the term "martial arts" is of Western origin ("martial" being derived from the name of Mars, Roman God of War) and prior to becoming associated more or less exclusively in the public mind with Asian fighting styles described all the skills associated with warfare, from horsemanship to unarmed combat disciplines, so the idea that certain Christian monks might have had formidable fighting skills isn't all that far-fetched.

I was just thinking, is there a "All Martial Arts Are Eastern" written up yet?
