Needs More Hitler
launched as Adolf Hitler
: From YKTTW
: Could Hitler speak English?
: Well, he ordered a copy of The Great Dictator
to him two times, although it was probably subtitled or dubbed. There is also the rumor he spent some time in England. Grant Morrison wrote a comic about that once.
Empyrean: I'm removing the line where it says that inflation shifted the reparations debt onto the poorest citizens. I don't know who wrote that, but it's just bad economics. Inflation reduces the real value of money, meaning that those who are holding cash lose purchasing power. The poorest citizens by definition don't have much cash or they're in debt. Since inflation reduces the real value of those debts, they become easier to pay off using the now more-abundant money supply. Inflation transfers wealth from people holding cash to those who have debts, not the other way around.
: Poor and middle class people keep their savings in bank notes. Rich people are too smart for that, or don't remain rich for very long.
RE: Hitler as the third biggest mass-murderer:
As far as I can find out Hitler never personally killed anyone. Is that a valid distinction to make? I mean, anyone can stand on a street corner and call for death for all the Polynesians. It's the fact that other people listen
that makes a difference. Nazi Germany empowered Hitler; Hitler didn't create Nazi Germany.
: Well, as a soldier in WW 1
he certainly shot a few people himself, and personally ordering the death of people counts as murder (as they would not have been killed otherwise). So Yeah
. Hilter definetly scores the mass murder top five.
: Actually I doubt he shot anyone in WWI. He was a message runner. I don't see Hitler actually ordering
the Final Solution. He certainly talked about the annihilation of the Jewish people, but the order seems to have been given by Himmler. I wonder if Hitler personally knew the extent of what was being carried out, or just had a distant notion that the Jews were being "taken care of."
: That statement would be counting Mao as number two (The Great Leap Forward) and Stalin as number one (the Purges, the Holodomor), which is disputable.
: Despite the lack of orders from Hitler ordering the Final Solution, he was kept well aware of it, and certainly approved of the mass murder going on his name.
