The level of freedom granted by CGI models adds an entirely new dimension for the characters to move about their rescues. In the first fifty seconds, we see one of the brothers actively moving about his Thunderbird to rescue a father and son. Pulling some impressive maneuvers to try to catch the father when he falls.
While this level of freedom is a boon, I would also consider it something of a bane. In the previous series, much emphasis was placed on keeping the technology of the Thunderbirds and Tracy island a secret. So, readily abandoning their vehicles without some kind of security lock in place seems a little too out of character for such a secretive organization.
Secondly, the issue of Colonel Casey. Following the Paragraph above, Tracy Island had exhaustive measures put in place to prevent their identities from being exposed under the guise of being playboys living it up on Dad's money. So, when Colonel Casey appeared and was already aware of the Boys' status as Thunderbird pilots, it set off some alarm bells in my mind. At the same time, it also opens a few questions about how she received that information, who gave it to her. Did the pilots approach her as a family friend they could trust? Did Jeff Tracy entrust the secret to her after he disappeared? There are many questions raised by this.
I'm tentatively pleased that the Hood has a more active presence in the series, enough that the Tracy clan actually recognizes him, however I'm a little concerned about their Gun-ho attitude to hunt him down.
On a hilarious note, I love the Tracy brother's innate fear of Grandma Tracy's cooking.
WesternAnimation A good start

A very good, action packed start to the series.
