So, I just watched "Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling", and I don't like it, but I know almost everyone else does, and it also isn't as quite as bad as I thought it would be, so I'm just going to briefly sum up my thoughts on it:
The art style and humor is actually quite true to the original, which is probably the only thing that really stands out about it.
Other than that, it's basically the PPG reboot except with Rocko. Characters taking selfies, saying internet slang, etc.
And I felt that Ralph being trans is just there for relevance.
The special should also not have taken this long to come out — production wrapped up two years ago, but it was only just now released as a Netflix exclusive. It felt like the execs didn't care and shelved it — though it was probably good that they did, considering how the special turned out.
"Rocko's Modern Life" is among my favorite cartoons of all time, so I'm sad that this was how things turned out.
Besides the visuals and jokes being surprisingly accurate to those of the original cartoon, I don't really have anything else that I can say positively about "Static Cling". It's a travesty.
I think it's an insult to what was not only one of the best cartoons by Nickelodeon, but one of the best cartoons period.
Though, it at least ended up a little better than what I was expecting. Still bad, but not as bad as I anticipated.
WesternAnimation Not good.
