This comic is exceptional, as to be expected from the excellent Josceline Fenton. The art is organic but never confusing. Very well written, Hemlock is occasionally cute, occasionally scary, and one of the few webcomics that keeps me coming back every week. Hemlock never fails to update on schedule as well, which is highly refreshing.
Our story begins on a rather dark note, with the protagonist witch consuming her familiar, but don't be fooled. The story has lighthearted moments as well. The art is skillful in that it makes the cute moments cute and the scary moments suitably frightening. Lumi, as a protagonist, is sympathetic and sweet but still has an edge to her. Tristan, our audience insert, is curious but never comes off as stupid. He asks the questions we as readers naturally want to know. Exposition is handled very well in the writing. The reader never has to face blocks of text. Josceline Fenton has worked on comics before and her skill shows.
What more is there to say? The art is consistently delightful, the storytelling excellent, and the characters sympathetic. I look forward to Friday even more now because I know Hemlock is going to be updated. It's a delightful mix of sweet and dark that keeps the reader entertained and engaged. If you're looking for a fresh webcomic with a compelling story and beautiful art, look no further.
