I've always loved Wii sports, being an action guy. It didn't disappoint for the most part, and yet, I feel like it messed up in some areas.
The Good:
New game, new location! Spocco Square is like a more urbanized version of Wuhu Island from the Wii Sports Resort games; while I miss the Island, Spocco is just as good. This particular entry in the sports series has a nice selection of sports that anyone in the family or group can enjoy, and I guarantee you that this will be a hit with your group.
The most notable upgrade this game has is online play. In other words, if you wanted to go bowling with a friend who lives across the other side of the country or from another nation altogether? Or challenge people from around the world? You're covered! Just figure out the deets and bam, you got a game session where everyone can have fun.
The Bad:
The goddamn system Nintendo set up for unlockables in this game
See, this is the thing I hate about Nintendo. Everyone complains about how Microsoft and Sony don't make people work for unlockables and rely on microtransactions...
Nintendo is the opposite extreme. They'll make you waste hours on end for the unlockables in this game, which normally wouldn't be an issue, except that you have to have a subscription active to even play online, and each set of items is only available during a certain time of year. If you don't religiously play this game on a daily basis and you can't get them on time? Then you're shit outta luck until next year. That they won't let you buy the stuff even is just a special kind of shitty from the game devs on this aspect. This is where microtransactions would be a good thing.
...See why I get angry about that?
Conclusion:
Overall, on a scale of 1-10, I'd give this game a 8. It's a fun game that can keep any party or family entertained, but all the cool stuff is arbitrarily kept for online players, and you can't even buy them separately. I specifically recommend you buy this if you're just looking to entertain, because if you want the cool stuff or are playing for rank? Playing is gonna become less and less fun.
VideoGame Fun sports game, terrible unlockables system.
